All the fallout games involve you either losing memory of life in the wasteland or being isolated from the wasteland in a vault. I would love to see a fallout game where the tutorial you start as a child raised IN the wasteland, possibly told legends of evil ghouls/ super mutants only to have your perception change in adulthood when you're encouraged to explore
I would love a fallout game in which you could actually somewhat choose your origin, starting in different places and factions accordingly. They could even add an option of something like "the stranger", in which your background and origin is entirely up to you to decide, but in which you start out as a foreign explorer so that you at least have a place to start.
It would be hard to implement though. Would each of these characters have access to the iconic pip-boy? After all, it's the device that allows our inventory management, radio and vats system to exist in the first place.
I don't think it would be impossible though.
Fallout Van Buren was the original Fallout Game that wanted to do a lot more with customization, such as allowing characters to become ghouls and such. It's sad to think the original creators no longer own the rights to what could have been a brilliant franchise.

Or save near the farmhouse, it's a random location spot. Reload until you get a good random encounter, if you don't mind doing that sort of thing. You might get the Fire Lance Alien Blaster.

The wastelanders are basically vault dwellers some of the settlers and raiders again some joined forces and greatly reduced the backlasher numbers down freeing all of Appalachia

The reason why background radiation was worse at Chernobyl was because of spent nuclear fuel rods, which isn’t as deadly as a nuke in fallout. The bombs were delivered by just dropping them and waiting for them to hit the ground. The earth absorbs the impact so it’s easier to go back and re-inhabit the wasteland
Nuclear weapons don't hit the ground before they explode even the oldest nukes like little boy and fat man had altimeters installed to detect altitude and detonate and around 1500 feet to cause more damage

Nature would recover fast much faster than thought. Ask Russia. Their nuclear disaster hasn’t really affected the wildlife or vegetation like thought. Most animals that die don’t die from radiation. They die much more violent deaths from other animals or starvation outright.

Unless you have infinite ammo you will never have enough. A lot of it would be destroyed by bombs since you'd think military bases and military gear factories would get bombed first and no more ammo is produced. Unless you find Eugene somewhere.

Something I've read about fallout: The Guy who invented the microchip apparently died in a car accident and therefore never did his work.
Another danger the Deathclaw poses to survivors. Their intelligence is near human, they are incredibly smart hunters that operate in packs. But the scariest thing about the Deathclaw is the fact the Deathclaw can mimic speech to trick people into coming closer.

They also live in quarry which annoys me as a player trying to explore and trying to fight deathclaws twice my levels, seriously why is super strong deathclaws near the story mission? Anyways since they live in quarry and shit it would make mining and reconstruction dangerous

My dad was a kid when they had videos about nuclear bomb safety in elementary schools and I’ve honestly wondered how they believed a school desk would protect them from a nuclear blast
It was never meant to protect from a close range blast(that would blow away the building) but from glass shrapnel if a detonation further away blows out the windows. You don't want to get that radioactive dust into an open wound.
Also to duck into the next area providing shadow does protect against the initial heat blast(which would otherwise, depending on distance, burn your skin).
In other words those tips, contrary to popular opinion or "common sense"(lol), would help with early survival.
On the other hand most people in such a scenario wouldn't die from the blast or even radioactivity but from starvation because without modern complex infrastructure the land can only support about 1/10 of our current population density(depending on the area you live in).
I mean if that's small wooden desk can protect you from a nuclear blast or the shockwave then I'm pretty sure every building will be made out of wood cuz then you wouldn't have to worry about it

Depends on what kinda dog you have. A rottweiler can survive on the contents of a landfill and can tank a 2x4 to the head with minimal damage while a goldendoodle or Chihuahua needs Science Diet to survive and will die if you glare at it too hard. You might think I'm exaggerating but my Rottweiler has been hit by i dont know how many baseballs, both thrown and hit, while running through baseball fields and loves corn on the cob almost as much as she loves just plain cobs from my compost pile.
Fallout 3's dog isn't invincible, but you can get a perk in Broken Steel where every time your dog dies you can get another outside vault 101

Worse radiation occurred in "Fallout" because vehicles had their own nuclear power plants plus such common use of fission that there were waste dumps all over, which thus led to the incredible levels of fallout after the war

i looked it up, from what i've heard it was abandoned while only partway finished.
It would actually be a horrid existence for the sole male vault citizen. Being forced to non-consensual sex (probably) is not a joke. Might be fun the first few times but once the venereal diseases and female sex fetishes start kicking in, you're basically living a hellish existence. No doubt they would also prevent you from any kind of freedom or from killing yourself, as you're the only way for the vault to survive, so we're looking at a couple of decades being stuck in an isolation chamber.

The cazador is more specifically a mutated version of the western tarantula hawk wasp. Just Google a pic of it, it packs one of the most painful insect stings on earth second only to the bullet ant. They are common in AZ and California which is why they're in New Vegas

Cazador is probably the most aptly named creature in the Wasteland, alongside the Deathclaw. Turned out NV had the most insufferable creatures in the entire series. Fallout Siberia would be fun to play on a survival mode.

you cant compare containment of atomic explosion and Chernobyl disaster. Why? Because what happened in Chernobyl is more like *dirty bomb* - to many nuclear particles that wont appears when atomic bomb detonates.
Could you explain to me how dirty modern nuclear weapons are? In comparsion to Chernobyl or the nuclear bomb on hiroshima.

@@ironczar8975 my apologies for my language - im from Ukraine, but I'll try. Yeah, you correct about optimization. But what happened in Chernobyl technically was not a nuclear explosion, it was much less destructive (destroyed roof and walls of reactor) than in Hiroshima, but put 400 times more radioactive material into the Earth's atmosphere ( because of great amount "fuel" that reactor uses). So we have explosion that contaminated area for a long period of time. On the other hand atomic explosion main purpose of is to cause destruction not a containment. That's why i called it dirty bomb. As i know there was not real tests of dirty bombs yet, but you can read about it here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_bomb if you interested, and make your own conclusions. Maybe I'm wrong))

Ye, though after bombs drop you only really need to hold out for a couple of weeks, month at most, afterwards the background radiation might be a little higher then normal but will far less then what generally get from flying in a airplane, in other words you'll be fine. If you enter into a recently irradiated area just be completely covered up and wear a gas mask and you'll be fine, just make sure you shower (with water, non-irradiated of course) or otherwise wash off all the dust. It's no where near as bad as the HBO documentary makes it out to be. Documentary is really just fear mongering.
They also have to stay fertile, which is harder than you might think. Do you have any idea how easy it is to completely fuck up the female reproductive system??

19:00 Fallout Survivor, a game that lets you do just that would be amazing. Fallout universe matted with a voxel based engine, that will let you dig anywhere, remove stuff from anywhere, build stuff like Space Engineers, mechanism, towns, farms, etc. On top of it having a robust quest system like the one Obsidian developed for FNV and a meaningful perk system, oh boy, that would be truly a marvel.
I think there is a Fallout mod for 7 days to die, sadly it doesn't have quests and perks like fallout

The reactors HAVE fail safes and they don't fucking BURN YOU INSIDE OUT CONSTANTLY, they are managed by A.I. , you really should realize that the society of the Fallout Universe, was way more nuclearly dependent than we were, but reactors melting down every two seconds? That never happened at any of the Power Plants in 76.
real talk tho, A fallout Australia would be an awesome world to explore, all the different creatures Bethesda could make for Australia would be AMAZING it would be the kick in the ass the fallout series needs.

One little detail, is that the U.S in fallout was holding on to the oil, however they discovered fusion technology as a fossil fuel alternative. They decided to also keep that technology to themselves, despite China knowing about it and requesting to work with the U.S to further develop it, in exchange for that technology. The fallout universe may not have ended up the way it did had the U.S decided to share that technology. Though its understandable that they wouldn't, fusion power was going into military applications like power armor and aircraft propulsion. That, and by the time it was discovered the U.S was already at war with China.
I think the cannibalistic tendencies of the super mutants was missed, not that it matters. Plenty of things to kill you. Like that wild west movie with Seth MacFarlane. Still, I find the super mutant viewing of humans as food (and their appalling lack of sanitation within their living spaces) the most frightening.

THANK YOU. The solid reasons we wouldn't probably survive or have a much harder chance doing so is the product of our mistakes. All these mutated creatures lurking around the different settlements would be a very difficult threat to deal with. If we aren't already dealing with disease, rad poisoning, lack of food or proper nutrition, clean water and air, then having to compete with these huge mutated monsters would make things a tad difficult

Slight aside, laser weapons aren't used as a mainstream weapon because they're impractical. They use a large amount of power and, if you have lower end materials, can burn out portions of themselves. Not to mention, if your foe has a shiny piece of a mirror or tin foil on them they could just reflect your shots back at you. That is to say a full sized mirror would be the ultimate shield versus laser weapons and so would tin foil wrapped power armor.
There was actually an energy weapon that was designed with the purpose of proving the concept for what it does. The way it works is that it fires a very high powered laser at the target not to fry the target with the laser, but to create a vacuum between the target and the gun which then, immediately after, fires an arc of electricity like a Tesla Coil down said vacuum. The vacuum is there to make it so the easiest path to ground is through the vacuum and on the target on the other side. This was the concept they were trying to prove. The reason I bring this up is because this was actually deemed far more practical than the concept of conventional laser weapons.

To start with, thank you for your input. Nothing was really detracted from and I was shocked it took so long to get that reply, but it gives me a chance to expand more on what I was saying.
The tin foil thing was more of a joke because the concept is lasers are extremely easy to defeat weapons. It's a directed light at a single focused point that can be bounced back by a mirror because, as was stated above, it's light. And, I know about i6 and how it can punch holes through mirrors, but the point is that if you shoot a mirror with it, the light's still going to be reflected. The reason it can punch holes in mirrors is that the amount of energy being pushed through is great enough to heat the mirror enough to cause it to melt, but most of the energy, until the hole is pierced, is still being reflected.
Also, we do have lasers that are small enough to be considered rifles, yet powerful enough to use as weapons. Again, though, the reason we don't use them is that they're ineffective. I6 can punch a hole through a mirror, but a regular laser "rifle" would be instant fodder for them. Whoever the mirror ends up pointing at becomes the instant target and is just screwed unless they get lucky. It can also be a hazard to planes, boats, civilians, etcetera.
It's much more efficient and there is far less ability to counter ballistic weapons and that's why we use ballistic weapons.
The other reason we use ballistic weapons is that they have stopping power, so even if the person isn't killed, they are disabled in some capacity (FBI statistics show that if a large caliber is involved, the combatant hit is usually down on the first hit; this is also why military combatants in a firefight are supposed to shoot to wound, so the enemy has to drag the person off the field; you effectively take three people out with one shot as the others have to get the person back to medical, whereas killing shots are _boom_, _dead_, _everybody continues fighting_). Lasers don't have stopping power with their force and as such all you do is burn a small hole into a person. Sure, it hurts, but it's not going to be any worse than a .22 shot, assuming you're not using something powerful enough to blast a clean hole through someone in one shot. It's the difference between being slashed by a sword or struck with a war hammer, compared to being stabbed by a rapier. Sure, if you hit a vital, the person is dead, no questions; however, if you miss, the other person is going to fuck you up (unless of course they are also using a rapier, in which case, it's even footing; assuming they're using a laser weapon too, same idea).
Fallout New Vegas has that weapon, the LAER.

Would be interesting, I'm currently writing FONT (Fallout: the Northern Trail), it takes place in Washington and Oregon {unintentionally, but there is a limbo vault [Can't be proven Canon but non-canon either] Vault 6 that was right under mt St. Helens, it's experiment was to slowly expose the dwellers to radiation until everyone turned to ghouls (even the Overseer), it's unclear if it was a successful test or not, but you'll have to find out whether that vault survived.} There's a bunch more stuff I'm working on like Vault 25, where there was 30 Female, 8 Males, 1 Overseer (Female), and 6 dogs of 10 separate breeds each (60 in total), to test how much a person would give up to keep their beloved pets, though a broken water filter (not-intentional) caused the deaths of 40 dogs to radiation poisoning, and six became mongrels, about 2 years after the incident the vault opens up to trade, becoming a somewhat pre war kennel, and even trading away their new surplus dog food, the player character's vault, is [REDACTED].
Keep in mind, it's a just a pitch draft, but it's still something.
