  • This is How to recharge AC in a car. On this weeks episode, we show you exactly how we fixed our AC in our Lifted 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon. Although we show this on a jeep, this strategy will work for almost every make and model. Want cold air in your car this summer? This is the fastest, cheapest way to get FREEZING cold air just by recharging your system with refrigerant. If you have a leak in the system, this is the perfect refrigerant as it also has sealing properties. If the leak is too large, you may have to do an ultraviolet test. I chose this refrigerant because the sealer in this product is a conditioner so it wont damage the ac system.

Good video but I wouldn't use those charge cans they have sealant in it and can damage the system. I own a shop and do a lot of A/C work. That low side Schrader valve was leaking that's oil you saw when you took off the cap. 😁

@@Garagecouple Ya if the compressor is coming apart the pressure could exceed 400 psi. That's why I always hook up my machine or gauges to see what's going on first.

Normally a AC unit only cools approx 30 to 35 degrees below outside temp you can get more by overcharging it like you did , but that will “Cause “ leaks if you didn’t have any before you will now eventually.. that gauge is relatively accurate regardless of what car its used on it doesn’t change .. you can plainly see the Freon is leaking at the low pressure valve and needs replaced , and then will need to be vacuumed down and replaced and charged properly . Running it overcharged the way you did will cause damage to the system , just a FYI for ya...

Greg... gotta say I luv your videos, very informative, and I cant lie, if you used that thermometer on Aleen, temp reading would have been FIRE.
Did sound/look like you may be leaking from the low point valve. I have a 2011 JK and it was leaking from there. I did grab the tool with extra "stems" (Its exactly like a tire valve stem). You can tighten the stem, replace the stem, or for now, just be sure that cap is on tight. Keep up the great work Aleen... oh... you too Greg!

the system needs to be pulled down into a vacum with gauges to get air out and any particles out, then let sit for a while to see if you lose vacum if so then you have a leak if not then you can recharge and with the system being in a vacum it will suck a can of freon in seconds , tip: turn can upside down every so often to get some of that oil out of the can to lubricate the system

That hose/gauge is only reusable with the same canister and the company that made it. If went with the cheap route, I would have purchased the kit with the trigger. It can be reused with all makes of of cans, resealable or piercing. Or spend a little money, stop by Harbor Freight and get their AC kit. It measures the high and low side for more accuracy

Just though I would let you no that they sell Freon with stop leak in it. Not sure if they sell it in the big cans like that, but they do sell stop leak that is added in the small cans. I'd ask your parts guy about it. Thanks for sharing your videos.

It should be in the same location, trace the piping from the compressor

Every time you work with freon wear safety glasses you can go blind. also is better to vaccun the system before charging. God Bless.

Bruh, definitely leaking and from that low port valve stem. You can clearly see the freon that came out. You can get the tool from from your parts store to replace it yourself but it'll never work at its full potential until you vacuum the system.

I had a leak and was able to find it using soapy water. Ended up replacing the condenser cause it was shot. I can’t figure out why the AC now seems to work better at stop lights or at lower speeds.

Because your fan clutch is shot (or fan shroud is missing). Though you've probably figured that out by now
