"It doesn't have to make sense, I can just make this whatever I want!" Love your tier/ranking videos, so many folks lean on how an item 'should' be valued rather than how they actually value it, especially within different contexts. Tuff Lite in B, XM-24 in F, on point!
You are the reason I got into knives. I love the way you are sarcastic about what others would comment on. The way you laugh is funny as s***. Thank you for being one of the best content providers on youtube. Oh yeah. My wife says I am spending my kids inheritance because of you. Lol.
I agree on many of your points. There’s a difference between edc and a great design. Some knives are bought with a purpose in mind, while others are more about how they make you feel when you hold them.
I am a lineman and my Kershaw Blur has been through a lot it has never failed me from cutting tape, rope, plastic conduit pipes when we do underground work, and various other objects
As always, excellent video. You've added a lot to my thinking on knives and collecting. I can't quite get on board with the super expensive safe queens, but I get it as collecting goes. Thanks again for great content.
Based on my budget and the quality and design I would pick the Kershaw Blur and the Civivi Elementum; most the other knives are impressive as well. Thank you for the review. 😎👍
The Blur was my first USA made knife and I still love it ,,,, mostly nostalgic of course. Haha I remember thinking “damn this inexpensive and I don’t wanna scratch it when I use it” LOL. I mean you know !!! I don’t abuse any of my knives but you know what it’s like,,,,,;
Great video. I took notes of all your S rated knives to eventually buy a couple of them for EDC. I had to turn on captions to identify some models! Thumbs up!
Absolute favorite edc is the microtech utx-70. Tiny tiny otf I can pull out and put back easy. The tiny handle is slim and just feels great in a pocket. The exocet is pretty wide for me and the utx-85 is still probably too big to use in public even if it's legal here.
What was the name of the one at 41:42 you didn't put a link in the description so I couldn't find it. It looked interesting, plus that pocket clip on it looked cool.
I love your "hate" for the bugout. Because that's the reasons I love it, but I also have other preferences for the knife than you. And your points are valid about the Grivory scales, it's all about "in the eye of the beholder".
I love my Eklipse but I am so confused why the access to the lock bar isn’t the same as on the XM-18. Access on the Eklipse sucks but it’s better in almost every other regard.
VBR has been updated with thumb studs. He's putting together a preorder now. Had it open for a short time a couple days ago and will be re-opening soon.
What do you guys think about para 2 and para 3? Hes right about para 3 being able to do everything pm2 can do but its great to pull out the bigger knife sometimes lol
You absolutely should get another F3NS. I bought mine to be a high end user, and it cuts just as wonderfully as you'd think. I can't imagine a more comfortable useable pocket knife has ever been created. They come up on the secondary pretty regularly for good prices. I kind of wonder if it will be awhile before we see another run of them considering the Carbon Plate situation.
I'm looking to get my first spyderco, going with a USA Para 3. Does spyderco do restocks frequently? Would you recommend preordering one from a retailer like knifecenter?
I’m with you in size. I carry ultratech and utx 85 but I have utx 70s because well they just so damn awesome being miniature ultratechs with full on quality and build just tiny and cute lol
Your explanation that the PM2 is "only" in class A is that it is bigger and heavier than the Para3. But the Shaman, despite its size and weight, is in class S!?
Does anyone have any thoughts on the WE knives Subjector? Looking at either it or the kitefin as a benchmade bugout alternative (huge framelock flipper fan)
Of course me being the Bug fanatic...You should rank all the Bugouts next. Wasn't expecting the Bug to be an A...hell, I wasn't expecting the Altus to be an A! Makes snagging up an Altus all that much easier.
I paid $8 more per Shaman that I purchased from Scheels. Their prices includes tax which is something I don’t pay when ordered from my number one knife dealer, DLT Trading. However, Scheels had my Shamans in stock and they provide superb customer service. I have no regrets for the slightly higher prices because no one else had my knives in stock.
Good breakdown. I am waiting for my altus to arrive as I watch. The only thing I would personally change is that I would downgrade the smock one grade. It's a very fun knife and has a nice grind and blade shape but it's kinda square in the pocket and there is a decent gap between where you're meant to hold it and the back of the edge.
I love my Spyderco CPM-M4 PM2, Spyderco Spy27 Manix LW, Demko AD20.5 textured Ti sharksfoot, ZT 0562ti and ZT 0095BW! I may need to a ZT 0392, looks like it may be a nicer and slimer version of my 0562ti.
Oh my goodness I can't believe he said that, I literally use my Ontario rat one to chop down a small Christmas tree for my brother's apartment in the mountains last month lol
What do you think about spyderco yojumbo and yojimbo 2 how are those for carry. I have no spyderco knives I’m looking to get at least one but it’s hard for me to decide which I want. I’m thinking shaman pm2 pm3 yojimbo 2 yojumbo. I also really like the watu and it’s also in my cart waiting for my decision but it’s a little weird looking also not sure how good it will flip the way it’s made.
Civivi altus or Spyderco para 3 LW. I really like the para 3 LW but I feel like it's overpriced now, especially for having frn handles without metal liners, while the altus seems underpriced and has g10 handles. I'm trying to basically completely ignore price because im willing to pay the price for either, but the para 3LW does seem a little overpriced now. Which one do you think I should go with.
Feel the same about the Bugout, just flimsy and I got rid of mine soon after it came out and I got it. Will probably get another but the money to buy it and then get scales just so it feels like an actual knife just bums me out.
How's it going man BrokeBoyTactical here I have a TH-cam channel as well dedicated to EDC. You inspired me me to get more into the metallurgy and nerdy aspect of knives which inevitably led to me becoming a serious knife enthusiast. And I have to say this is the first time I have ever completely disagreed with you just on one knife. The baby banter has absolutely no business being in the C-Class. Even if fifth pocket carry is not your thing that little guy brings so much to the table for its price and it's super comfortable to carry as a secondary option. Even if you don't like it and it's not your thing I think it at the very least belongs in B class. Solid G10 Construction, solid liner lock, titanium thumb studs, Nitro V Steel and really outstanding ergonomics for its size and not to mention a flush mounted deep carry pocket clip and Civivi's great quality control all of $65! I can't personally decide between the 2, I love them both in separate ways.
Also thinking about the Manix. I like the PM2 a lot but the Manix is 50 dollars less so it looks like a much better deal. What did you end up doing? I am also considering some other similar knives from other companies.
