I get super tired of hearing about pop stars. I feel like media outlets just try to find the most minute things to use as headlines just so that they can say yet another thing about whatever celebrity is most popular. Apparently, a heavy metal star doing a philanthropic act (that goes beyond bringing someone onstage) is less interesting than what outfit a kardashian wore that one time they went to a gas station...

I'm 3 years late, but basically if you have lots of money people will offer you more free stuff than you have room for. The same thing happens with fame ,everyone makes sure that whatever a famous person is doing everyone else must know about it because once you are in the limelight everyone tries to keep it shining on you . Just like an ugly man with no money that is a jerk that goes to a singles bar with a girl will attract 10 times the female attention than a good looking wealthy nice guy who goes into the bar by himself

A lot of religious people put themselves on a pedestal thinking they are better than anyone else. They probably feel as if they can just do immoral shit one day & pray away the immortality the next. But oh Jesus help you if listen to metal oh god it’s so bad 🤦🏼‍♂️

I frigging hate that! I listen to heavy metal but when I have the time I like to volunteer at the animal shelter. Meanwhile there have been cases where people who are religious have been so quick to judge people simply because they might be gay, listen to a different type of music etc. Yet there was a huge scandal in recent history where over 90 priests were convicted of molesting children and the church tried covering it up... Seriously how hypocritical can you get

For me metal kind of saved my life. I used to be very close minded and a sad person but upon finding the genre it opened my mind, it helped give me a purpose for mg existence and it makes me feel as though I belong somewhere. I've never felt like I belonged somewhere but being a metalhead really makes me feel like i belong somewhere . It's even influenced the way I dress considering all I wear are jeans and thrash tees lol. I think metal really helped me out in a low point in my life and bc of the bands and people I looked up to I'm pretty happy with who I've become. Metal changes people for the better and I've gotten very close with friends over the genre and making metalhead friends is very easy since we already share a common interest. Metal is fucking legendary and I will listen to it until I die🤘

The only things metal really influences are creativity, individuality, and independence. Look at me. Before I started listening to it or any other form of rock, I was unsure of who I was and trying to write stories, I'm a writer, that had been done over and over again. Now, I'm trying to overcome my social anxiety and developing a style all my own. I couldn't be happier now.

Metal has definitley had a positive impact on my life, it inspired me to learn guitar drums and bass, and I've made numerous friends because of it. Metal influences people but not in the way that most people think, it helps to have an open mind and be willing to learn about subjects like religion, beliefs, and political standpoints

Society is very emotionally repressed in both very subtle and very unsubtle ways. People are essentially told that they can't be angry, upset, or unhappy about anything. They deny the reality that those emotions are just as much a part of us as the positive ones. Society has a warped perception of what it truly means to be real, because we can't be honest about our emotions. Where am I going with this? Heavy Metal music (with some exceptions) usually relishes the emotions that people typically deny. It embraces the anger and expresses it wholeheartedly. In that respect, Heavy Metal is a truth we all need to hear, as much as the sheep don't want to hear it.

You were talking about morals and you said that metal doesn't make you satanic or pagan, that it doesn't make you believe in something but that it can open your eyes to different ways of thinking. I have to say that I completely agree with you because I am a living example of that statement. Metal didn't make me satanic or pagan, but it made me want to know what Satanism and Paganism are. I did quite a bit of research, I read the Satanic Bible, and understood what Statanism is, but I am not a Satanist. Some Metal songs picked my curiosity and I wanted to know what Satanism was.
I am still figuring out what Paganism is, I'm not quite done yet, I'm looking for more information. That doesn't make me a Pagan. I am just naturally curious and some metal songs talked about Paganism, which made me want to learn more about it.
But that doesn't only apply to Metal. It can be true for a lot other genres too. The music in itself doesn't do anything, the lyrics do and you don't need Metal to talk about Satanism.

I've been influenced into metal when I was 14. The first four band I've started listening to was Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Judas Priest before I got into the extreme metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Nile, Amon Amarth, Sodom, Anthrax, Darkthrone, Gorgoroth, Marduk, Lamb Of God, Toxic Holocaust, Havok, Machine Head, Deicide, Cryptopsy and Morbid Angel. None of those bands ever influenced me to murder someone and worship satan and all of that shit. Those bands have influenced me to get into the metal scene and become a metalhead. I'm also learning my Death Metal vocals since Death Metal have gave me the influence.

Metal has always been a strong emotional outlet and fans react to what speaks to them. What Rob Zombie said about not being a casual person rings true. You never meet somebody that listened to Slayer for a year or so, you meet the guy with "Slayer" carved in his chest. Metal is a rare genre that has staying power with fans, it's not a passing gimmick. What person says "I was going through a rough time and Justin Bieber's music got me through it"?

To answer your question at the end of your video:
I don't think Metal has a negative influence and I think it is extremely unfair that media keeps trying to demonize Metal (well I guess the devil IS quite metal...). Metal could have a negative influence on mentally weak people, but that's not the music's fault. It's not the people's fault either. These people have a problem, you can't blame Metal for that.
I think Metal can have a positive impact. I get angry or upset quite easily and listening to music helps me calm down. Since I listen to Metal, we can say that Metal helps me to calm down. That's definitely a positive impact.

Metal has influenced my appearance, but more importantly, it's influenced the way I think. It's open my mind to a lot of things, and helped me to think critically about the world, as well as brought about interests in all sorts of subjects because of all the diverse, interesting themes and aesthetics the genre has to offer.
More than that, however, the experience of being a metalhead, appearance and all, has impacted the way I view the world. You learn a lot about people by being an outsider, especially in school. An interesting experience was the transition from high school to college. Most people in college value open-mindedness and intellectual discussion, so you have far fewer people who treat you differently or maintain distance because of something as absurd as having long hair and liking metal.

For me, metal gives me an outlet for my anger, aggression, etc. I’m more of a stand-offish, shy person and it allows me to get out all the stuff I hold in. It’s my way of coping with whatever negative stuff I have going on in my life and I’m sure a lot of other metalheads probably do the same. Judging from encounters I’ve had with other fellow metalheads, usually we r some of the nicest and most easygoing people u will ever meet. I’m not sure where the stereotype that metalheads r always angry, violent, and evil comes from, but from my experiences that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Metal is an underground music genre, and it isn't understood by most people. People generally fear what they don't know/understand. That might be a reason why they demonize Metal and call it the devil's music. Christians did the same with Rock before Metal even existed. It is also a music genre that is extremely diverse and the lyrics are about a lot of different things, including "disturbing"/"morally incorect" themes, that's an other reason why it is seen as bad by most people.

I think Metal gets a bad rep because ppl don't understand it. Sure the lyrics can be dark and aggressive, but there's much more to the genre than that... But sadly that's all any of the outsiders see. As soon as they find out you listen to heavy metal, they alienate themselves from you almost as if you are a walking plague that will corrupt them. They never think to ask you why you like it, or how it helps you, they just make faces and shield themselves in whatever music they listen to as if to drown out your music. For instance, i myself have to thank heavy metal for increasing my vocabulary and linguistic skills, partially due to the lyrics i find in certain songs. That is a clear benefit, but everyone seems to Ingnore it, because in their minds heavy metal is just "noise". As mentioned earlier the lyrics present within the genre can be dark, but if one simply looks past that, they can see the true art that goes into the song. Everyone has a dark side, weather they like it or not, its just human nature, and just because a genre chooses to explore those themes doesn't make it inherently evil or wrong.

I feel like metal music or any art can influence a mind in ways, but to say would drive someone to do an insane act would be irrelevant to the fact being that persons mind would of been sculpted in the first place to commit that act from the beginning.
I feel they would use any influince around them to justify the act itself. Even if they say it was metal that drove them i believe they Would of used something else if metal didnt exist to do so, because they are looking for something to pander to.
I think metal has more of an effect on making someone a better person and more of an intellectual.
The lyrics of metal and intricacies of the music open the mind to understanding complicated things, musically and philosophically really, because even most lyrics in metal are based around life complications and science themes using words and perspectives you dont see in the norm of the world.
These give people more understanding about many different aspects of life and start questioning things around them because of it.
Even the brutal death metal lyrics are cast basically as satire and funny entertainment. Harmless and can be more therapeutic than anything.
Every metal head i know seems to be calm and collected.
If any music causes harm. Metal is the last to do so.
If u want to find harm look at the mainstream driven music controlling the masses telling them how they should want to live and who do be in their lyrics and fashion, making them proud to be materialists and sheep to the markets and cliches of controlled society.

Metal can have a very positive impact. Unfortunately what is harder to report are the masses who’ve managed to use metal as a pressure release valve to unload stress. Or the people who were lost and found an identity in metal. Or the people who were at a low point in life and metal helped them through it. I believe these positive things are very common, and we have metal to thank for it.

All music has a certain influence over us regardless of the genre. I think that Black Metal gets the worse end of opinions and reputation due to the graphic art, “angry” sounding lyrics and vocals--you know, all the heavy screaming and stuff. But, once again, ALL music influences us.......🤘🤘

My history teacher (he's actually really cool) saw a Slayer pentagram I drew in my book and ge asked me if I was going to shoot up the school because I like heavy metal. I just told him that if someone really loves jazz he would be capable of the same thing as someone who liked heavy metal and had done it. He said I had a good point, and we laughed it off. One of my more pleasant stories relating to my experiences with other people.

Whenever I'm teaching, as the kids (I say kids, they are actually between 11-16) walk in to my lab I always play metal (or classical), when they come into my class which they think is really cool. Some people it shocks, but others are really surprised. One lad now in his final year (16) saw me out with the wife shopping, and I was wearing my battle jacket and he was really impressed, that not only did I own one, but the bands I had on there are some of his personal favourites. I've heard him say to his mates that I'm his favourite teacher and when I'm not teaching him science we often chat about metal, his band, and his guitar playing.
He's a really bright kid too and should do well in his GCSE exams next year.

I don't think a lot of people watching your Channel are thinking that metal is a bad influence...
Personally, I'd say that metal made me less strange, so definitely yes, metal can influence people positive. However, I think if someone is capable of killing; but is a little insecure, he/she could find strength in music and especially metal, because it's not just feel good music. I think the problems metal had especially in the 80s and 90s, are because it's way easier to find a scapegoat than to really fight problems, and a lot of people are accepting it. The best proof for this is one of the most tragic moments in history, the german Nazi Party's rise to power by basically blaming everything on the jews.
The story of the girl in your school is somehow funny, but it also shows that humans are bad at noticing their own mistakes.
    Greetings from Germany, Hendrik.

So, i would say metal has influences on people. mostly, id say its positive. you ever see people at shows, most people are there to have fun. if there is a bad apple around they usually get put down fast when they screw up.
ultimately, id say that blaming music for a persons behavior is ridiculous. there are millions of metal fans who every day, break no laws. one here or there is an exception, not a rule. troubled youths are going to act out no matter what they listen to. thats a mental health issue, not a music issue.
no artist wants them or their music associated with negative things and im sure that those who get accused are innocent but are also deeply saddened to hear someone killed themselves or others.
its my opinion that Varg did nothing wrong. but there are millions of black metal fans who every day dont burn down churches, they dont kill their coworker/business partner.
you dont have to do as artists do nor do you have to agree with their views on things. i dont let what they do or say get in the way of enjoying the music nor do i give a fuck if people think im not a true fan because i dont worship the artists. if i like what they say off stage, cool. if not, i stay away from that and keep on playing the music.
metal gets it bad because metal is the only type of music that cant be bought and popularized worldwide. because real metal musicians make real music. and it lasts. in 10 years, the pop artists of today will be forgotten, replaced by new teens and new garbage computer generated 5 word songs. and in 10 years people will STILL be listening to and talking about the great metal music of the last 40 years and the current music, such as Judas priests "Firepower" album. its packed with several instant classics.
metal will never be mainstream because metal talks about real stuff and the other people only sing about fake stuff or stuff that could generally apply to anything. the real stuff, its in metal. \m/ \m/

Now I will point out that here where I live in America Rap music does get a bad rep like heavy metal but, it really depends on the group. For example there's a huge population of people in the US who listen to stuff like Insane Clown Posse and Twistid there fans label themselves as juggalos and juggalettes and they are some of the most easily manipulated fan bases going. I see more stuff in ICP lyrics that are more harmful than what I see in heavy metal lyrics.

Honestly metal music never tells you to do crime or murder people etc. Its mostly about getting your anger out tho out the day if i put cannibal corpse on and any songs about murdering doesnt make me wanna get up and kill people... if any its release my frustrated from people.. i say metal has always been a positive impact for me.. now the other 50% if you look into black metal stuff where varg had murder someone i belive he always been screw in the head since he was a kid to be honest.. the media are always forces on pop music and rap were clearly you can tell they do more crappy things then metalheads. 😞 no matter what music you like or if any you can do crime like jack the reaper where he murder all those people back in england time... if you take away metal music your gonna have the same issue.

The only terrible influence on kids would be how they are being raised by their parents...adults repeating what they were taught as children...metal can be a good influence with people in the way that it provides an outlet for their strongest emotions ( anger, sadness, happiness etc) the bad influences with any human can come from the evening news , parents( especially when there's an addiction, or abuse of any kind), religion ( some of the stories in the bible are very violent & very abusive towards women etc) metal helps me with a couple of serious health issues...deal with my lousy childhood & release for my pent up emotions...as far as suicide goes..metal couldn't be a influence with that
, because it either be biochemically influenced, heritary ( passed from parent to child) , brought on by hardships, child abuse etc...it ( depression ) never has been instigated by heavy metal !

Anyhow in the USA gangster rap has been blamed since the 1980's for being a "bad influence." Oh and your personal story, it sure doesn't surprise me that a kid would do that. To me it was a very positive influence but it could be argued that the influence totally depends on the person. Metal is just simply a form of music. So it is possible that the amount of influence of metal is fairly equivalent to that of pop or any other genre.
