This is great my husband is Colombian he immigrated and is now a soldier and a medical professional, when my parents met him my dad said, I thought he was Hispanic. My husband has no accent and I guess he doesn’t look Hispanic enough to people. Funniest part was when my mom asked him how he came to America not the US but America when he is from America; South America, and she meant what brought him here but without skipping a beat my husband just said a plane. Lol I never heard someone make my dad laugh like that, my dad really liked him after that. Too this day we rag on my mom about that.
Sounds like your parents have stereotypes regarding Hispanics. “He doesn’t look Hispanic enough to people”?? Sounds like your parents are “white Americans” and they were surprised to find out that descendants of White Hispanics, actually exist throughout “the Americas”. The White Hispanics are the ones running their countries, not the blacks and indigenous people. Hopefully, he has one of those typical Spanish surnames for you & your kids to inherit via marriage, so when your RESUME comes across an HR person’s desk, they can make all those Hispanic stereotypes about you. And if you get the interview, they can then subject you to all the micro aggressions of: “Wow, you don’t look Hispanic or in your case “Hispanic enough”. Comment on how well you speak “English” and the worst one is when they whisper “Are you a U.S. Citizen/here legally?”
He mentioned he saw it when it first came out in theaters - it came out in 1997. I know in another one of his shows he mentioned he's 42. But, he looks so young that when he mentioned he saw it in theaters I thought to myself, "how could you have seen it in theaters, you look too young." then I remembered he was in his 40s.

Actually, when I meet some Puerto Ricans, while some say they look black, I think they look black/white mixed, and some speak Spanish w/ an American accent like white guys-like me 😂
