    The lack of ARCA Swiss is making me go a bit crazy. 😂 Actually modified the plate to be able to install a Falcamn quick release on the M3/M2S and it works! Still waiting for Smallrig to release a an ARCA Swiss quick release for the M3/M2S like they did for the M2. Hope it happens!

    Thanks for this review. You just confirmed my choice of the Crane M3. Even though I'm using it for APS-C, it gives me a little bit more room for expansion to full frame. My question is: how did you setup the gimbal to control your camera? I have a Sony a6600, attached the included cable to the M3, but I couldn't figure out how to control the aperture, ISO, etc. Only the record start/stop button is working.

The gimbal motor vibrates ridiculously hard then stop. Maybe I have a defective M3? I don't know but I have no problem balancing the Gopro 11 with media mod on the M2S.

    Could have been the really perfect travel gimbal.. why they screwed up on the size , they could add like just 3-5 cm on the back and we would have been gucci.
    On sony AIV A7S3 you can remove the eyeviewfinder but still can't put a big lens, on panasonic you can't remove and you have to really use light and not long lens.
    Motors are powerfull enough to support way more load (if balance correctly ) but it's the arm going in the way that screw up the best travel gimbal.
    Im waiting for my counter weight adjust , i might gain some extra cms and put just bigger lense (like i use to on moza aicross 2.)

  • @inwardlens

    Jason, thanks for this video. I’m thinking about ditching my Ronin SC. Have you flown the M3 with the shorter Batis lenses? (18, 25, 40) - I wonder if they’ll be light and short enough to pair with the a7iv.

    • @dval823
      @dval823 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Word of warning....I tried the M3 with an A7Siii and very light Zeiss 18mm F2.8. The M3 can not really handle this weight. It will balance, but movements, such as panning, will introduce vibrations that ruin your footage. I sent it back two days later!

    If you've never used a gimble but are familiar enough with shooting videos for instagram/tiktok/youtube you name it, don't get the Q4 or Q3. I've used different types of tripods for my social media stuff and was finally ready to upgrade to a gimble to get the camera moves I know I really wanted and found the Q4 is very limiting in its tilt and rotation maximums before it would "wobble and freakout". The Crane M2s and M3 aren't going to have that problem.
    If you've never filmed anything in your whole life the Q's will be fantastic for you to learn from. They're a great Christmas gift for your friend or family who just started vlogging. If you already know how to shoot things pay the extra for a better gimble right away.

    • @CC-gt3ro
      @CC-gt3ro ปีที่แล้ว

      28-75 cannot be balanced with crane m3 and a7c. Too much front heavy. 17-28 can from reviewers, but this gimbal is limit to my opinion. And stabilization is not perfect and reviewers use warp or gyro post production to finalize the video. It is better to wait or go with weebill 3

      You won’t find any future gimbal that have replaceable battery anymore. I think there is only the weebill S still sold for 299$ CDN at the black friday. But the locks are terrible and break (technically move. Only two are self repairable to my knowledge. The pan axis does not have the panel to access the locks and fix it). So it is like throwing your money. It is better to go with the weebill 3 more professional maybe. This is probably what i will take personally. Best Compromise between payload and weight and quality. Until they do a crane m4 with embedded bluetooth, more capable, universal plate, light and mic expansion, maybe in 2024.

It wasn’t user replaceable and had to send it in…bad news is their US repair center “closed down” probably due to the whole covid thing back in 2020 and they said I had to send it to to their Chinese repair centers. Seemed like a major pain so never did it. Don’t think I want to deal with this company again.(Yes I am a little bitter lol)

    The best travel gimbal is no gimbal at all. Few travel youtubers use gimbal because it's just time consuming to use. They rather let camera shake shown in the final footage than use a gimbal or stabilize it in post. Use a gimbal only if you are shooting cinematic footage. It's just cumbersome to use when you want to film a story.

    • @LifeofJohnG
      @LifeofJohnG ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. Surely if ya gonna take a selfie stick or tripod, and then stabilise, you may as well use a gimbal. It gives you something to hold, has a tripod, and you don't have to stabilise!
