    No one needs a spring compressor of any type to do this work, you just do it using a floor jack under the LCA. Remove the two bolts under/either side of lower ball joint and remove the nut on top of the shock and take the strut out disassembled, leaving the top hat in place, it's simple and no need to break ball joint/tie rod loose. Obviously, you can then reassemble a new shock and spring back in place.

    Nice video. What are your thoughts on using KDSS drop spacers (1 front, 2 rear)? Can those help with KDSS issues? I've read that it's necessary for getting maximum articulation from long travel rear shocks, and it seems to make sense to me.

    • @CodyCrafted
      @CodyCrafted  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree.
      I use Dr.KDSS parts. This vehicle is pretty much street driven.

    • @timnoble4278
      @timnoble4278 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CodyCrafted Thank you, that's interesting.
      About DR.KDSS, is it sufficient to do the 2 rear KDSS spacers and the two front sway bar relocation brackets for a 2" lift? (as opposed to the 3-part kit from Treaty Oak) Do the front sway bar relocation brackets also resolve lean, or do they just resolve fit issues with the sway bar?
      Something else I noticed was that Dobinsons offers both KDSS and non-KDSS lifts for these vehicles. Apparently the KDSS version features springs with different heights on the right and left to physically correct lean (without addressing the KDSS system directly), so it seems that it would be preferable to get the non-KDSS version for installations where DR.KDSS parts are also being used.

    Thank you for posting this awesome content. I'm a GX460 lift newb... My wife has a 2020 that we're looking to level/lift for look and occassional elk hunts on nasty forest service roads. How do the Dobinsons compare ride-wise with the Old Man Emu kits in the 2-3" medium spring rate? We'd prefer to be close to factory ride quality. Thank you in advance!

    • @CodyCrafted
      @CodyCrafted  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The good news is you're not going to get factory ride quality. Stock is over damped and under sprung. Causing wallowy sway over bumps and braking, with a tendency to blow through the stroke
      The IMS is just a more advanced setup than OME yellows. They're not bad per-se but the IMS is my favorite kit and after 50-ish of these kits, never a complaint.
      The Nitro shock can be stiffer in my experience but not a bad ride quality

    • @BeowulfHagen
      @BeowulfHagen 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CodyCrafted Any feedback on the OME MT64 kit? They seem to the more than half way between Nitrochargers and the full remote res BP51 kit.

    • @CodyCrafted
      @CodyCrafted  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BeowulfHagen I haven't had the opportunity to install yet. However, more (quality) options in the market are always a good thing. ARB makes good stuff, I'm sure they're a solid choice.

    Do you not do anything to the KDSS like spacers because you are changing the geometry of the suspension ?

    • @CodyCrafted
      @CodyCrafted  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at this height for this vehicle's intended usage. We use Dr.KDSS and TreatyOak for KDSS correction on rigs that see more offroad and more that 2" of lift
