I love the use of calibrated hammers. I was blessed to be born with calibrated wrists so my torquing is always perfect!

Lol! I know, I'm working on a torque wrench! I have been flogged mercilessly!

Thank you. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. There are alternatives to compressing the calipers and also to clean the rust. I am doing the brakes on my 2010 CX-9 with 168,000 miles and having fun all along.

@soriar000440761 it is fun isn't it!? Lol! Wish I had a lift in my garage, THEN it would be a joy! Working at ground- level is getting old!

Things to improve on next time.
    1. Always have Jack stand on Jack stand points and lower the jack just below jack stand. If you rely on jack alone, you will shorten /ruin the life of jack and put yourself in harm by just resting on Jack.
    2. Spray rust penetrant few min before try to remove bolts. Instead of using hammer to loosen bolt, give few seconds good effort to tighten the bolt. Then reverse to remove the bolts.
    3. Smooth the hub by sand paper(may need wire brush), Use Anti seize compound on the hub surface receiving the rotor.
    4. Remove Brake Pads from Caliper brackets. Clean the brackets where Brake Pads rest. Use grease on on where it rest on brackets, and the back of brake pads.
    5. Always good to use new pads.

I did live in Arizona for almost 24 years! I live in northwest Pennsylvania now, so I get to deal with rust now.

Salted roads cost drivers a ton of money maintaining a vehicle. . .

Stick a Flat head in between rotor and pads and pry pads away from rotor before removing caliper. saves time.

what a fantastic video. will check out other videos. I wonder if there Is there a product to spray on that hub to help slow down the formation of rust?

Thank you! There is a solution called "Move to SC, AZ, CA, NM, TX, FL, GA or anywhere the Highway Dept. doesn't use salt in the winter!" Taxes will be better too!

Nice video, but I would have taken a wire brush wheel on a drill and taken a lot more of that rust off that hub before putting the new rotor on. It's important that the rotor sits absolutly flat against the hub or you will quickly have the same problem again. Always replace the pads after driving on warped rotors as well.

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate that...I have a wire wheel and will use it next time!

Also wondering why, if you live in such a rust-prone area, not take a little more time to apply some no-seize on the hub before placing new rotor on. It'll definitely help with the removal next time. Great shots of work!@@fixeverything4u
