    This is one of your best tutorials yet! Love how you go slow with the instructions, but show EVERYTHING and the video isn't overly long. Although I could really just sit and watch you all day. You give so many great tips and details to make new quilters and those of us who just jumped into quilting with no real instruction be able to do a truly beautiful quilt each and every time. Even teaching us some color theory along the way. You are absolutely THE BEST teacher I have seen, on or off the internet! Thank you, thank you for all you and Matt do. It is easy to see why you are such a success. God bless your whole family. I know the kids are involved and help a lot. You raised them well.

    I agree that knowing how to measure for seam allowance on pinked edges.
    Don’t forget not all manufacturers measure from the same place. Just knowing where to lay your straight edged cuts is a relief that my blocks will fit together the way it should.
    The 2-1/2” is inside the strip. It’s either top to top, OR valley to valley.
    The jellyroll can use the top of the hill, or the bottom of the valley. It will be consistent for all strips so you can use the same “sight line” for sewing each strip.

    • @mgs783
      @mgs783 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Mary Whalen another video she did gave a good tip...regardless of the manufacturer be sure to measure your strip width because sometimes the strip when pinked will include out to the tips of the pinked edge instead of from “the valley” of that edge. I now pay more attention to the difference when choosing/looking at jelly rolls or cut strip sets.

    • @johovey9864
      @johovey9864 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some you have to measure from the outside. Measure the precut before stitching. I got one where they only measured 2 1/4" instead of 2 1/2" and that WAS an outside measurement. Not all are alike. Not even all Moda.
