@@tise2277 Damn right ! Man he does it so well , so authentic . I love his way of singing Roger Miller's songs , same energy as him but different tonality .
I wish i could hit the like button an extra 50x.. all of Colters covers of John Prine are really amazing and id even argue elevate the originals... and i really love John Prine. Colters voice and guitar playing are just something special.

Ive been a fan of Colter for some years now. Hes a legend and the real deal in ny opinion. Im thankful for all the amazing workn hes done. It would be cool to hear him play Clay pigeons by Blaze Foley , and mamas dont let your babies grow up to be cowboys by ed Bruce.
Im confused. A full step down would make the top string D, but a capo 2nd fret would put it back up to an E and all the rest back to normal for that matter. Im not a guitarist im a violist trying to picture this in my head. Are you joking or does he do that for tone or some other reason? In my head im thinkin "all that happens is hes got less fingerboard" tell me what I'm I'm missing, please.
He's holding a c to start, pause and starts singing on f. Then the whole song is just f, to c, to g, back to c and repeat. Also dont let his capo fool you, he tunes a step down and capos to make his guitar hum and slightly buzz.
I'm probably gonna get bitten here but this is the third song of colter's I've listened to and I just can't see his value as a coverer of Prine. Weak voice, nothing on the guitar and I get no feeling that he cares about the actual meaning/feeling of the songs. I maybe will change my mind if I listen more but right now I'm not much impressed.
This guy's voice has a direct line to my emotional balance system....
He needs to do an album of John Prine covers
Buy a John Prine album. He's the real deal. Period.
I like how every country artist covers their idols songs and gives it a different feel to the song from their own perspective...
And one with Roger Millers'!
Pllllllease!

John Prine would be proud. Excellent job!!!
I miss old John Prine! Nice work Colter- great stuff. Time marches on
Guy makes every cover he does that much cooler than they already were quite frankly. THE Voice!
Have to disagree with you on that one. Jp was the goat

Man just keeps getting better. From 2016 to now
Great rhythm player too.
I keep coming back to this after a few weeks
Before I leased to this man singing to over TH-cam I thought he was a good singer and he is a good singer so keep up the work I'm proud of you
Thankyou for uploads. I do not know how I miss these streams, but this is wonderful. Your voice, music reaches deep inside.
Alaska here. Excellent. I am a JPrine listener, you do this song just wonderful.
This is what i needed in my life.
This is incredible. I’d love to see this song on the next album!
Dude your Badass and John Prine was quite a goal to push for...
Nicely done Colter, Mr Prine smiling !
Need an official cover of this on the next album Colter, please!!
Colter is the king of kings when it comes to covers man goddamn like fkn cowpoke damn did he kill that song

Colter Wall sings John Prine's music better than anyone, except John Prine!
So it's a fail !
Why aren't our radio stations playing colter?
John ends this song in Canada & Colter powerful soulfulness sure gives us a big hint of why John was attracted so much to the Northwoods.
Colter Wall and John Prine perfect pairing.
Very interested to know the alternate tuning here. Great stuff!
to awnser that guys his question. Colter uses full step down tuning and then capo on second fret a lot.
one hell of a gibson as well

Miguel Marquez makes the strings looser, easier with an old guitar
@@marksoftime cool thanks
@@miguelmarquez4192 old guitars dont have a trust rod to adjust the guitar neck and tuning down is easier on the guitar neck
I used to roam Hollywood and Vine. But before that and after, in a lady’s room or a shit saloon, I’ve been crazy as a loon.
Sadly, John Prime died from Covid 19 in 2020.
Can anyone tell me what chords he’s playing? I know they’re right there but I can’t quite see what he’s doing..

@@bigcase4449 ah thanks so much! I’ll be playing this one tonight.
Cheers!
I want that hat.
Fantastic

Correct me but I don't think anyone ever died in a John Prine song. Townes killed hundreds in his singing career, but Prine was peaceful.
I stand corrected.
Would love to hear Sam Stone
Pretty soon a met a woman, pretty soon she done me wrong ..

Weak voice, nothing on guitar?? Are you referring to Prine or Colter
I like the guitar and voice combo instead of a band.
