    She said fill to 14 cups with the vinegar but she only filled it to 12 on camera. She didn't mention if we should leave the coffee basket in place. She did not mention what to do with the filter gizmo that I pulled out of the machine before cleaning. My gizmo looks awfully dirty - how do I clean that? She also didn't say whether to run the put of clean cold water under the "clean" button or a regular coffee button. She actually did a poor job!

    My assumption is that it is a second "clean" cycle not a "brew" cycle. Since it's not actually stated in a way that's obvious, to me, I did a second "clean" cycle dumped that water then did 12cups if water and "brewed" cycled that.

      @@sarahjoyce769 I did "clean" a second time with plain water then "brew" a third time with clean water. I ran on the premise of "when in doubt, do the extra step" as I don't want vinegar tasting coffee. It worked well for me.

    It should be noted that the cleaning cycle on the carafe part takes quite a few minutes. It stops and starts, stops and starts. At first I thought something was wrong. The single serve cleaning was just like making any regular cup of coffee. I cycle vinegar 2x and rinse out (brew cycle) several times. Model# SS-15BKSP1

    How about telling us how to "really" clean the thing after it overflows and grounds are all over the interior of the unit. This seems to be a problem with this unit as my UN-scientific experiments conclude that trying to steal a cup of coffee while it's still brewing can result in an ungodly mess. You must have the speed and skill of Indiana Jones and get that pot back under the spout quickly in order to reduce the risk of an overflow disaster. The first time that happened, I placed the whole unit in the sink and rinsed it down. That, for obvious reasons, killed the coffee maker. And for those that think it was a dumb move - I agree. But without coffee in the AM, thinking is difficult.

      You're absolutely right. After several months of use coffee grounds and stains are in the interior of the coffee maker and there is no way to get brush or rag in there. The instructions in this video is just what the included booklet indicates to do.

    I rarely comment on videos, but this content and these instructions are really poor. I’ve 3 questions: 1. Yes or no? Filter BASKET (the conical one); in place during CLEAN cycle (I got that bit about the charcoal filter being removed first.), 2.how about ounces/ml vs cups for the water vinegar mixture. I know this isn’t rocket science, but it’d make it easier, 3. As asked by others, and not answered by Cuisinart, is the second cycle just a plain BREW cycle, or the another CLEAN cycle? Thank you.

    • @1AFVeteran
      @1AFVeteran 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Answer to #1 - Yes, make sure you have the filter basket in with a filter inside to catch the calcium deposits. Major mistake in the video that she didn't mention that. If you don't have the filter basket in, you will have a mess! #2 - Use the carafe for your measuring regarding cups. I believe their cup sizes are 6 ounces but try 8 ounces if you have an actual measuring cup and if it fills to one cup line on the carafe, then it's 8 ounces. #3 - Clean cycle, and I would advise to use it about 3 times and then a regular cycle. This insures you get the vinegar out of the coffee maker unless you like a little bit of vinegar smell or residue in your next cup of coffee. Mistakes and experience are great teachers, and that's all I have to say about that. LOL!

    Why would you remove the filter stick? It is in need of cleaning as much as the maker. Just remove the filter cartridge. At the end you say run another cycle of fresh water. Which cycle? The Clean cycle, or the Brew cycle? Confusing...

  • @UTV2020
    @UTV2020 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    First of all, after the 9.3 "coffee-cups" of water, you said to fill the carafe all the way to the 14 cup mark with white vinegar; you only filled it to the 13 cup mark. Probably doesn't make that much of a difference; but you are Cuisinart so please be consistent. Second, you never precisely (seems to be a habit with you) answered F. Daleo's question and subsequent statement: "they want to know if the 2nd cycle is brewed normally like you would with a normal cup of coffee or do you put it on the Clean Cycle again during the cycle with just cold water." Please be specific. Thank you!

      I decided to read the manual to get the definitive scoop on this:
      To clean:
      1. Fill the water reservoir to capacity with a mixture of 1⁄3 white vinegar and 2⁄3 water.
      2. Press and hold the CLEAN button. When the CLEAN LED indicator flashes, the coffeemaker is in Clean mode. Release the button.
      3. When the cycle is completed, 5 beeps will sound and the coffeemaker will shut off.
      4. If the CLEAN indicator illuminates once more, repeat the cleaning procedure with a fresh solution of vinegar and water. NOTE: One cleaning cycle is usually sufficient.
      5. When the CLEAN indicator remains off, run one cycle with a full reservoir of fresh, cold water to rinse the unit.
      6. Return the charcoal water filter to the holder inside the water reservoir and your coffeemaker is ready to brew!
      Still doesn't say which cycle to rinse! Still, pots without a clean cycle say one brew cycle with vinegar to clean, two with water to rinse, so I assume if they say one rinse cycle is enough they mean the clean cycle.
