Try putting Heli bars on it 1 1/2 inch rise or Apex bars 3 inch rise, makes a massive difference in comfort & doesn’t affect handling, I’m 60 & have the same bike & love it!

I bought a K4 exactly like yours in 2004, brand new. Loved it, probably my favourite out of all the bikes I've had. I sold it after two years as I thought it would kill me. As you said, the bike is much more capable than I am as a rider and it just wants to go faster, and it's effortless. A wonderful thing. Yes it's uncomfortable after a while but the grin factor is huge. Everyone should own one at some point, they're brilliant. Thanks for the review

I ride a K8 750 flashed and tune by Chris Moore and it Stupid Fast 134 RWHP and 58 lv ft of torque, also the best looking gen! I push it very hard coming out of 3rd I am approaching 145 mph. I have hit 177 and it still has more. 46 years old. The first bike I rode on front of was a 1985 KZ 1000 which was my Uncle’s. I have been riding since I was 5 years old. We usually ride about 200-250 miles on a Sunday. Living in Western NC I have my pick of the best twisties in America. Once I port a polish the head it will be right where I want it. Stay safe out there!

If you push it, it should top out 186mph. Mine was a k4 when I had it. It had a yoshi full exhaust and a k&n high flow filter and nothing else and it was limited to 186mph. It looked exactly like this one. Loved it!

Good review. Agree with most things you say here, you speak a lot of sense. Apart from the comfort thing. Its not comfortable by any stretch but its nowhere near the worst (for me). For me the worst was my ZX7R, I think it did permanent damage to my spine it was that bad (for me). Just recently took a day trip round the Scottish highlands on the K4, about 350 miles. I was only temporarily crippled afterwards, no permanent damage... I've been riding since I was 15 and I'm 55 now. My GSXR is the same year as yours, with a chip and a cut down Akrapovic and a TAS Racing TYCO paint job. In my opinion it is one of the best looking sportsbikes out there, forget all this new horrible jaggy stuff. I agree that this thing handles sweet as a nut, and is way faster than me. To me the 750 is the perfect size motor. Not too small and buzzy but not so powerful you can't use any of it. And I still much prefer a four, maybe a twin or a triple does everything better on paper, but I like what I know, and I've just never got on with twins. Cheers from sunny Scotland....

    Hi,
I'm 6 foot 7, 120kg and have size 16 shoes and I have a 2011 GSXR 750. I have had many bikes from SV's to Hayabusa's and the 750 fits me pretty good and is an awesome bike to ride to work on. I flipped the clip on's from left to right and put them on upside down that gave me about a 2inch rise and about 2 inch wider grip on the bars. This made it so much better to ride and control. I also dropped the front sprocket down one tooth and the rear sprocket up two teeth. This has made it SO much fun on the streets. Love the GSXR 750

Now that´s an honest review, thank you. I am considering a GSX R750 or a 1000 and I have decided the 750 is way more than enough for the road. I ride a built 600 and it is a beast, almost enough to leave alone but I want a smidge more torque in the mid-range. Thanks for the honest and level-headed review.

I bought a 05 750 gsxr new off show room floor and i wish I still had it. it was a quick bike it would go 81mph in 1st gear lol and handled amazing all stock plus it was one of the lightest bikes for the power it had I think the dry weight was 353lb. this is one of the best sport bikes ever made still to this day in my opinion!
I saw that video your talking about pretty impressive to buy a 2005 gsxr, make it dependable and put it up against a new bike and they switched drivers as well just to make it fair both drivers time was faster on the gsxr so that's really impressive and shows Suzuki w ahead of the game in 2005 they hit the nail on the head on this build. I'm looking to buy another one just like what I had here soon

My wife loves her 03 GSXR600. She races it for SCTA land-speed racing and has a blast. I enjoy riding it on the streets and mountain roads but have to stop and take a break after 30 minutes of riding. My 2000 Hayabusa is much more comfortable. I still want to get a 2004 GSXR750. As you said, they are tough to find in very good condition with low mileage.

  • @JeremiahHartmanPhotography

It sucks that all the advancements that "could" happen get stiffled by the EPA and Europes version of the EPA...otherwise we'd be getting a lot more performance (and better gas mileage) lol Great video and I totally agree...the K4/K5's 600/750/1000 are pretty much the pinnacle. Now that I'm in my 40s, I ride touring bikes but usually have a sportbike to act up on.... but now I have major back problems and I can't ride these anymore...currently looking at ZX14, K1200/K1300S, or maybe an older ZZR1200...not for the top end, but more comfort and still able to get (a little) stupid..lol

Great question. I am drawn to the 929 and 954 as well. They are light and fast as hell. Both would be a little faster than the 750, especially in the low to mid-range. If you can find a good one they are a great choice.

I test rode one of those back in the early 00s and really liked the low end torque compared to my 02 R6 but man, the bars were so low I couldn't deal with it even though I was only 46 at the time. I really liked Yamaha over Suzuki so sort of wish they made a R7.5 but they never did. The 1000 bikes were just too fast for me even though I owned a few. Cool that Suzuki made the only good 750 of that era.

when i tell people my 01 1K is 22yrs old they are shocked. Ive got the black and silver one. and its 420lbs, thats lighter than a lot of modern bikes and with a tooth added and removed here and there its so much usable power. Love my K1! Oh, and its going up in value every year lol, got it for $2900 8yrs ago, could get $4500+ easy but what would i get after that. And the 01 I dont have to take off fairings to change oil and filter.

I'm 42 and I have this same bike and you are absolutely correct about the pain it puts on your wrists. I wanted to throw my rider off one day because she kept leaning on me and that really kills the wrists. I put a cowl on it now and removed the back seat. No more passengers for me.😂

Just bought the exact same bike….same colourway and everything 😂 love it, it’s faster than my old K1 600, handles better, better equipped and looks prettier. Just had it set up by a local suspension specialist and it is waaaaaaay more capable than my riding would ever be 😂
You can change the oil without taking off the fairing….if you want to change the filter it’s five hex bolts and a few plastic push plugs to get the side panel off…not exactly a strip down 😂🤷🏻 I agree on the comfort points though, it’s definitely not a tourer

i started riding on the road at 16 .im now 53 . i have never owned a car . i have k4 1000 ,and i have to agree ,it,s a very uncomfortable bike in stock form , higher clip ons ,soft tank pad ,and a shaved seat ,make,s a huge difference ,plus lower the rear end slightly also helps . and it makes next to no difference in handling .

Haha I have a very similar love hate relationship with mine, k5 , had since new. Always on the verge on selling it then I go for a ride and think "I can't stay mad at you! 🥰"
Just did 1200kms over two days and it was rough at times, passing all the guys on their BMW rs standing up and stretching their legs. Made me weep in my helmet.
But the negatives are this bike positives. The fact that it's so highly tuned suspension wise means I can feel every variation in road surface which would be great for racing, but it also means that every pothole turns my wrists to talcum powder. 😢
