    This bike is no joke. I have an 06.. I’m an experienced 600 rider, and I’m still adjusting to it and it’s only been a couple months. Proceed with caution!

    The K5 is still a mythical beast in my humble opinion. Matt Mladin made this bike a thing of LEGEND. Greatest bike I've EVER ridden.

    I've got a K6, bought it new and assembled it from the crate myself. Still looks like new after 40k of riding. Opinions may vary but it's one of the best bikes I've ever owned.

    That gsxr stigma (squid) has been around for 25 years. It's amazing how far it's made it. I've owned a 96 gsxr 750, 02 600 and now I've had my 05 gsxr 1000 for a while. I've never been a squid. I'm a responsible rider. It's incredible how long the stigma has remained the same

    Ive owned a 2006 K6 GSXR 1000 for the past 4 years. Got an Ohlins shock /fork springs and valves, a Racefit slip on and exhaust valve delete and a power commander. Its a total beast and Ill never sell it. Ive ridden all sorts of 1000cc bikes and for me, nothing comes close for pure, viceral, full power sports bike, and that includes the BMW S1000RR (which incedently was based on the K5/K6.)

    I've had 3 of them! 1x K5 and 2x K6 of which I still have one and its the best bike I've ever had! I have ridden all the current sports bikes available and even though they are brand spanking new with features the K5/6 doesn't have, the K5/6 just feels so good that I simply cannot justify spending the money on a new bike that just wouldn't give me a better feeling when riding. And YES they have insane mid range! So much usable drive and I will say it.. feels better than a big bang R1 for torque! Yep I said it! I'd love to find a low mileage example to keep on display in my house! The K6 I have gets ridden not hidden!

    I have one of these bikes and I'm keeping it forever. The low down grunt and mid-range grunt make is such a good road bike. It's also light and steers brilliantly. The engines last forever too. Get the suspension serviced and keep on top of the cleaning and you're good!

    Every time I ride a GSXR 1k, I get off feeling like I just rode the best motorcycle on the planet, and that's coming from a guy who rode a ZX-14 for 7 years, I really want to ride the 2017 model, I sold the 14 2 years ago, and will soon be in the market for a new bike, and the Gixxer is number 1 on the list right now.

    It's been said before but for the benefit of the uneducated let me tell state this, you simply will not find this bikes limits on the road. I had one for 3 years and NOTHING up to date ever came past me. Small but comfortable ,taught but forgiving, docile as you want but monstrous power everywhere should the mood take you.
    The midrange he talks about so much makes it an absolute joy to live with just twist and go the thing just will not bog down in ANY gear. I've been on most of the current superbikes and yes they are truly amazing however that doesn't take away from the fact that Suzuki broke the mould when they unleashed this baby.

      You wont even find a 600cc bikes limits on the road. The only thing I will disagree with you on is: this is known as the LEAST forgiving 1000cc, but there really isnt such a thing as a "forgiving" 1000cc literbike.

    Just got mine back from the shop after full service, new tires, brake lines. It had been gathering dust for years and it was time to show it some love. Forgot how much of a beast this bike is. Really it's like learning to ride all over again after coming off my HD, 690 SMCR and a slew of dirt bikes. Mad respect for this bike. My 06 is a decent example of the era in Blue/White scheme with 4200 miles and no engine mods other than a Yoshi Carbon slip-on.

    I probably have the most well maintained K5 1000 in the world. Bought new in 2005..has only 1400 miles on it. Front wheel never been up. Bike has never seen rain. Also bike has never been over 80mph. This thing looks immaculate. I will make videos soon as it warms up a bit. Oh and no mods at all. The bike is stock. Hell still got the rear fender on it lol.

    • @cy9254
      @cy9254 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Nothing to brag on by it not being over 80mph. If that's the case then the bike has never been broken-in and given the mileage the engine may never reach its full potential. These bikes are built to be ridden and have a strong high rev motor so the power is their why not use it some?

    Light, compact, brilliant steering, no electronic aids, fantastic engine. It’s that superhero feeling that you always have limitedless extra power in reserve when riding on the street. Did anyone mention the mid range this bike offers? I bought mine two years ago, only 11.000 miles/17.000 km on it.
    I’ll never sell it.

      +East South You are sort of missing the point. A typical K5/6 fan would not want a BMW 1000 rr. That bike has a much more top endy engine with little of the K5`s low and mid range power. The K5 is something of a cult bike at this point.

    I just bought a 05 gsxr 1000 about 2 weeks ago keep in mind it's the first bike I've ever rode in my life never even say on one before I bought this and I'd have to say it is super easy to ride I love my bike it's easy to ride it's easy to corner with maintenance is easy on it so if you'd looking at getting this bike I highly recommend and just for everyone wondering it is fucking fast being a new rider it's put me in place a couple times but it's a very nice bike and yes the midrange is fucking crazy if anyone has questions about this bike shoot away

      You’re wild bro 😂 I started on a 600 and My K5 still feels crazy sometimes. This bike does not like slow riding through the city.

    nice vid, question though. i have owned a modded out 2006 gsxr 1000. , 750, 600 and currently 2014 zx14. the 05 gsxr was fast but honestly is no match for a newer bike. the gearing and stock rwhp kills it. i think you should reconsider your thoughts on the gsxr being a top contender. i even have a video racing a busa on my gsxr and the zx14 with no effort blew me away after he flagged it. again nice vid. just my thoughts

    What makes the 05/06 the cream of the crop? I thought the 07 was the least restricted and fastest whether it was a 600 to 1000

  • @nwbklr

    They came with fantastic tunes from the factory. Which is very unusual for any manufacture of bike or car. We would all throw power commanders on these and then to the dyno tuner and not get much more out of them.

    • @nunyabusiness896
      @nunyabusiness896 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emissions killed car and motorcycle tunes. After 05 the Euro laws for emissions changed and so they just made it a universal change to things like cats and ECU tunes.

    I miss my K5. I let my wife ride it and told her to be extremely careful because it will throw you. I was so worried i followed her in my truck. When we got back from the 5 mile trip she said everyone was going so slow. I had the truck floored most the time trying keep up. She was going 90mph and had no idea, she though she was going the speed limit.

    i liked that video a lot. i'm coming from an sv1000s. i like my bike a lot, but im kinda tired of the v2 sound and rough riding style caused by the v2. i want to get a sportbike, but i set myself a ps limit to around 160ps, cause i think more would be way to much (upkeep costs and i like my life, its hard enough to drive resonable with 130ps...). i have looked around and really like the k5 gixxer but also the r1's around 04-06. would you say the k5 is a bit to much for me? or the r1's? because its really tough to find sportbikes with a newer construction year than my 03er sv with not complete insane power and ps numbers
    regards from germany

    Do you always ride with your hi beams on ???? Not sure if that's a great idea with reference to pissing off cagers. I will sometimes do it in heavy slow traffic when filtering to give me that extra edge of visibility and safety, but not outside of that. In your country, I am sure the chances of some driver getting rankled would be much higher.

    I highsided mine and I miss it something wicked. To me this bike is like an old mopar. Bad assed but quite good manners. I recommend like 200ml of motor-up stuff and the box gets way easier to shift.
