    Nobody in India claims that heart transplants happened in ancient times.
    But yes, Sushruta, the "founding father of Surgery" was performing rhinoplasty (nose reconstruction) and other forms of plastic surgery 2600 years ago on the banks of river Ganga.

They are ridiculous and hilarious, yet they are taught to students in the beginning of the course because it is the fact that they tried it for the first time. You are mistaken to think that people are assuming a modern doctor wearing gloves and holding precision tools was doing surgery?

      @@heavenlypot what are you talking about? No where in school was I taught that greeks invented atoms or physics, nor is it believed, infact in many academia their descriptions are laughed at. The only ones that like to talk about it are euro centric or ultra Greek nationalists. Same goes with alot of these Indian pseudo scientists as well.

    Sir, @51:05 u mention that Aryabhatta believed that the earth was stationary and that the sun revolves around it, this is absolutely untrue.. Aryabhatta in his calculations of a Yuga (which is appx 4320000 years) mentions that the earth revolves eastwards on its axis 1582237500 times, this translates to 23 hours 56 mins and 4.1 secs, which is remarkably close to the now known number of 23 hours 56 mins and 4.09 secs.. he’s also presented a calculation of the number of rotations of earth per lunar orbit which matches the correct figure up to 7 decimal places..
    I know u are a man of science sir, but I humbly request you to kindly go through a few such works by Rishi’s in the ancient past of India.
    As far as ancient Hindus believing in the earth being flat, the Hindi word😢 for Geography is ‘Bhugol’, which is made by combining 2 different words : Bhu - means land/earth and Gol - means round.. the name itself is self explanatory: Round earth..

      Combination of Sanskrit and math is a difficult topic... We can manipulate math equations and show both geocentric or heliocentric model.. we can also manipulate as if Mars is center of universe , different people need different calculations.. few need sun in center few need Earth in center.. but how actually universe looks is different.. depends on need and depends on perspective...

      even our temples that date 1000+ years back have nav graha ( 9 planets ) center of which is surya ( sun ) , our calendar is based on Surya Siddhanta.. again shows sun🌞 is the centre not earth 🌎

    If aryabhatta correctly calculated solar and lunar eclipses, how would he do that without knowing that earth orbits around the sun ? Can you explain? I think Dr hoodboy has presumed without any basis that the planetary model used by aryabhatta is wrong! Is it a coincidence that his calculations were correct but his model was wrong? Wonderful!

      As far as I know the first nose transplant and the first cataract surgeries were actually done by Sushrutta in India - I haven't watched the video but the prof seems to have dismissed that claim alongside the vimana stuff

      Aryabhatta opined that earth rotates on its own axis and sun & moon revolve around earth in epicyles.
      So we can deduct from this that Aryabhatta consider earth to be the centre point of the solar system.
      And for the calculation of eclipses, Aryabhatta thought that when the two epicycles of sun & moon overlap, eclipses occur.

      @@Vishal_Chintal So he was still correct relatively, because he worked on the principles of relative motion. Even if that's assumed, one can't say that he assumed earth to be the centre of the universe. If relatively sun rotates around the earth, then earth also rotates around sun. Doesn't prove anything really. It would only prove anything if we have any manuscript of aryabhatta that specifically states that earth is the centre of the universe, otherwise things remain inconclusive and hoodboy is assuming things unnecessarily!

    You refer to indian science like it is from another land . Pakistan was at the centre of most of it with the University of Takshashila at Taxila and the indus Valley.
    You should refer the Surya Sidhanth, most hindu festivals are based on astrological events and revolve around the planting and harvest cycle . Predicting weather was one of the major functions of the astrology.
    India also had the caste system which was one of the first and most efficient systems of management and social sciences .
    In the question answer session, I found it disturbing that the audience seemed incapacitated to allow their minds to aentertain any idea that departed from the Holy Quran . You fight a loosing battle with an audience that will not cross the lakshman rekha of the Holy Quran .

    Sir, You did mention that you are not a historian, and I am happy that you made an effort to enlighten students. You did not touch upon metallurgy in ancient India, Zinc purification was first done in India, and Indian steel was supposed to be superior. The iron pillar in front of Qutub Minar in Delhi is rust free after more than a thousand years or more. As far as Ayurveda is concerned, it is a holistic approach to healthcare, that includes Yoga, nutrition, mental health, herbal medicine, surgery etc. Rhinoplasty is used today in the same techniques that Sushruta had described 2600 years ago. Shshruta had created 126 surgical instruments that resemble today's instruments. He did many major surgeries including intracranial surgery (written in Sushruta samhita). I am a general surgeon , and modern medicine is moving towards a holistic approach. Sushruta is acknowledged as the father of surgery by the surgical fraternity all over the world. I believe there is a statue of Sushruta in front of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in Melbourne.
    There were 12 universities in ancient India. Takshila, and Nalanda were the more famous. 60 subjects (streams including medicine, politics, economics, mathematics, astronomy etc} with a faculty of 3000 (in Nalanda). Nalanda library was burning for 3 months after Bakhtiar Khilji's attack. He slaughtered the faculty and students., and more than one lakh original manuscripts were burnt. Students came from all over the world to Indian universities. Takshila university was built many centuries before Alexander.
    I appreciate your efforts. Takhshila university was in present day Pakistan. Perhaps you will consider going into depths of history.

      Bangladesh is not ahead of its neighbours. Its way exaggerated. They are progressing but not at a better pace than others. And regarding religious teachings. There was never a concept of religion in Subcontinent. Philisophy as a matter of fact is wat included debate, discussions , manuscripts and it goes way back. Back in the day you could argue, debate and hence improve the hypothesis. And sastrartha as we say in sanskrit happened everywhere.

    Indians since ancient times knew that Earth is not stationary. "Jagat" is the sanskrit word used for Earth or our world. This world is again made up of two sanskrit words, ja and gat, meaning that which is in motion..
    Dr Hoodbhai, I hold high regards for you, but it appales me when I see you deliberately denying ancient indian advances is fields of Science, Maths, and Astronomy..

    Sushruta is considered the "Father of Plastic Surgery". He did surgery somewhere between 1000 to 800BC. This is even taught in western university.

    Chinese travelers came to India, studied in Indian universities, and took back loads of books and manuscripts, got the mandate from the emperor of xian to translate in to Chinese. This was in 3-4 century ad. Surya siddhant is more than 12000 years old.
    You have to deepen your study about Indian science and mathematics.

    Aryabhatta, a mathematician and astronomer, wrote Aryabhatiyam. He stated that day and night were caused by the rotation of the earth on its axis. He developed a scientific explanation for eclipses. He also found a way of calculating the circumference of a circle. He wrote how the Earth was not the centre of the universe, but in fact revolved around the Sun.

    People of Indus Valley Civilisation traded with the Arabian peninsula during the time of Harappa and Mohenjodaro (ancient Harappan seals were found in the Arabian peninsula). So contact was from many thousands of years ago.
    Allopathy (not modern medicine) is treatment of symptoms, and Ayurveda means knowledge of life.

    We Hindus do not believe the earth is flat Dr Pervez! That’s an abhrahamic belief. In fact, we were one of the few civilisations who made accurate calculations about space.
    Also, Aryabhatta never said the earth is stationary. Where on earth as you getting this information from? This is absolutely disappointing.

    Disagree with Dr. hoodbhoy on certain points about india (especially about indian medical science). It's well established among scientific and historian community across the world about the Origin of Plastic surgery procedure and medical tools associated with that. The effectiveness of some aspects of Ayurveda is visible but the problem is that authentic Ayurvedic knowledge has been very much diluted by unnecessary noise and false information due to which people think it's a sham. However, still i very much liked the fact that someone discussed it in detail and specially the conclusion part that no single civilization can claim the credit for discovery of entire science.

    That is incorrect that there was an empty space after 1_ for 10....Take a look at how ten is written in roman numerals. That gives a good clue of what the issue was. It was written as X. 50 was written as C. Multiplications & divisions wasnt possible other than to count.

    In Iran they are successfully implementing the herbal medicines system alongwith the modern medical allopathy system. So far so that even modern physicians are also prescribing herbal medicines and it is also officially recognized by the Health Dept.

    Aryabhatta calculated circumference of earth with an accuracy of +- 60 miles. Bahot hand waving kar dia Dr. Sahab ne. Indian achievements ko ye log man mahi sakte warna reality difficult ho jati hai inke liye. Confused kaum hai.

      maybe you need to use your brain a bit more instead of being a troll. The oldest calculation of Earth circumference is from Eratosthenes, which is 500+ years older than Aryabhatta. Why tf should proff waste time on things that were not discovered by Hindus. He gave credit wherever it was really due
