      How do you rate the sr+ with the upgraded 4 speakers to the long range?

  • @GaganKeshav
    @GaganKeshav 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    hahha..this is exactly what I've been researching since this morning and this review sums it up..here in NZ the almost 24K difference in the SR and LR is just way too much for an audio upgrade and some extra range..

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Haha I must have read your mind. Totally agreed! For that price difference, it's only really worth it if you absolutely need the extra range and AWD of the dual motor.

      @@farmerfarmerer3847 So far we have been averaging about 380kms of real world range from a full charge which is plenty for our needs. We are doing a big road trip all the way to Bluff from Auckland next month so will have plenty of videos covering range details, where we charge, etc.

    I've had the SR+ for almost a year now and the first thing that I really disliked about it was the audio. It sounds good when you first start listening but after a while it gets fatiguing and I'd eventually turn it off. You just can't lop off 7 speakers and expect it to sound good. I think the door tweeters relieved the dash speakers of the burden of producing the high end, and that's one thing that gets harsh. I have recently replaced the 3 dash speakers with Infinity REF4032 drivers and it is a great improvement as these drivers are good up to 21khz with a separate built-in tweeter, and have much better response on the low end. Once you pull the Tesla drivers out you see what the problem is, those drivers feel like a piece of cheap plastic, hardly the high-end driver they'd let you believe they are. The install of those Infinity drivers is a bit of a PITA but if you work slowly and methodically you get it done. I'd love to use a pair of Infinity to add to the rear deck but that is a big job.

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Zac, thanks for your detailed input. This is super useful for me and rest of the viewers :) Hopefully in the future I will be able to give the Infinity drivers a go and see how they sound.

    Curious how it compares to my 2017 Golf with the Fender system. I absolutely love the Fender system - it can get VERY loud with 0 distortion and bumps hard while remaining clear and crisp. Considering trading it in for a M3 and prefer the standard range with LFP battery, but value audio quality enough that I'd splurge for the LR just for the better sound system 🤔

      Thank you! Yes that's correct, the 2 rear speakers were unfortunately removed. I've the full speaker kit on order with the rear speakers and the subwoofer too. You don’t need to purchase higher trim levels with Tesla. Everything is built in and software locked. That Tesla has 14 built in and only 8 unlocked. Same goes for rear heated seats. They’re built in, but cost 270$ to unlock the software.

    I had no idea the standard plus was limited in speakers.. that's disappointing. makes no sense why I would have to buy a bigger battery and extra motor just to get a better sound system lol. If there was an option to upgrade just the sound system I would.

      @EVKiwis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To me it's such a con the difference in the cars should only be battery size and performance. You can upgrade to white seats but not have a better stereo! That makes no sense!!
    A better choice would be Rear Wheel Standard or Long Range Battery, AWD or Performance..
    All the interior the same except Performance which should have something that is a little more special red seat belts, carbon fibre trim. Come on Elon sort it out!

So battery and performance are the only differences. Until then, I might just twitter bomb Elon 😂
