- In today's review, I test the Wilson Staff Model Tour ball. With only a silver ranking from Golf Digest on their annual Hot list, can this Wilson ball compete with the likes of the Taylormade TP5, Titleist Pro V1, or Callaway Chromesoft? I dive in to find out!

Anybody tried this ball? Let me know what you think!
I use them, switched over from Bridgestone BSX.
Love the Wilson.
I swing at around 105, and I LOVE this ball. Long, and workable off the tee, with amazing green side spin.
And what I'm also realizing now, is how underrated Wilson is. Now that I work at a golf course and can talk shop daily, I was surprised at how many people I worked with that thought Wilson was an absolute terrible brand. I told them they are mistaken and that Wilson has more championships than anybody. Apparently that knowledge isn't as common as I thought it was
my current favorite ball is now the WILSON STAFF MODEL ....great ball...good distance nice feel and great spin around the green....was a callaway chromesoft fan boy ( TRU TRACK , TRUVIS ) not a fan of PRO V1's.....am a 7 handicap....cheers from Canada
You have good taste friend
I've been playing the Triad and I really like the feel, putting and driver. I just bought a box of the Staff Model R, which is the unpainted ball, more of a buff finish and I must say it really goes and I like the sound/feel.
Great to hear! I enjoy the firmer feels around the green and love how Wilson performs.
I play mostly Wilson Staff Duo Soft and the Zip but have never played these. I don't like to play high compression balls because I mostly play persimmon woods. When I do play my modern clubs I will play more like a Pro V1 or equivalent. For that price tag I would play the Pro V1. Good stuff! Looking forward to the next.
Thanks brother., I completely understand why people stay away from higher compression balls. I don't fault them at all.
I bought 6 dozen of these as they were on offer. Been using up my stock of other balls, but now I'm into summer golf properly and going to start using these at the weekend. I swing driver between 105 and 110 so I'm going to be very interested to see what driver distance is going to be with them and I'm really hoping for more spin than I'm getting from the Vice Pro.
I absolutely love these golf balls. I think they're criminally underrated. I would be interested to know your feedback once you test them out a little bit as well. But I think you'll be really surprised how great they perform
The TH-cam Channel - Todays Golfer did a robot test and the Wilson Staff Model ranked amongst the best. I think I’m going to have to try them out.
I saw the video. Excellent Wilson results. I still have my Ball Hawk Six from when I was 9 years old. I'm 68.😺
They are definitely worth a try if you swing 90 or faster.
I owned a machine shop for 30 years. The reason for the 50 dollar price? The tooling for this specific ball. You don't need a Check Go to balance it. It's perfect out of the mold.😺
Hey that's awesome! Thanks so much for the insight
Interesting...
Won a sleeve of 3 tried them enjoyed them and being a senior golfer can’t really say I noticed a big difference probably because I fall into the slower swing speed category certainly doubt I would pay the extra.
Yeah they definitely are for faster swingers for sure
Well done brother. I am currently studying the Wilson golf balls for a recycled golf ball business that I am helping. The Wilson staff is good but the price is definitely the reason i wont be playing this ball.
Yeah it's really difficult to spend that kind of money on golf balls. Knowing there's so many good values out there. Although if I do see that buy to get one free again I might jump on it.
I completely agree. I really like the OnCore because of the price. I am an ambassador using their ball for beginners and kiddos
Great shirt!
Lol thanks brotha. 💯
I haven't and of the group of 25 guys that I play regularly with, no one plays or has even tried them . Basically it's the $$ angle - if they're willing to pay that much, many go with the Pro V1, but most go with the TP5/TP5x or higher end Bridgestone. However, a lot play the Wilson Duo and would play the Zip if they could get them, lol.
I think I mentioned this in an upcoming video, but I talk about how Wilson needs to up their marketing game. They relied so long on their past championships, and now the new generation of golfer knows nothing about them. They're going to have to push to get back into the market. Because their balls are really good. I would say they rival the top of anything, but no one knows that.
Oh, for sure. I think they get played more in the U.K. and I've seen a LOT of different varieties of Wilson balls that I dont think ever reach the North American market. We find a lot of older Wilson balls on the course too - 50 elite, 50/50 , smart - core, Chaos, Tour Velocity, and many more
i found one of these balls on the course last summer....Played with it for the rest of the round...Im in Scotland...Was hugely impressed with the ball....It feels firm, was going miles off the tee for me (reviews had said it was spinning of the driver), not for me! ....and was great around the greens..
gonna try these.... right now golf town has them buy 2 dozen get one free....thats 43.00 a dozen ( Canadian ) 33.00 ( US )
That's an amazing price honestly. I saw this deal on an advertisement and was surprised to see it. I think the value there is awesome.
@@GolfBallAddict played a round with them today and shot 74.....loved these balls...surprised me actually...will continue to use them...cheers from Canada
Never trust a dude that wears two golf gloves
Touched base on this in one of my podcast episodes. I use two gloves while testing because a testing session can last up to 150-200 shots. Then I will usually have a practice session the same day. I have to keep my model-like hands in pristine condition for the TH-cam channel as well as the Allstate commercials. 🤑
@@GolfBallAddict hahahaha. I have to say I tried these today for the first time..actually need to adjust to the quick check up on chip and pitch shots. These do not roll out very much at all
can i ask you what is your swing speed with your irons and your driver
92 mph driver. Irons are in the 80s
Haven't played them in years. Might think about it.
Always worth a shot. Honestly Wilson's one of the few brands that will still sell a sleeve of golf balls. Might be worth testing out for 10 to $15
What’s up, with the 2 gloves?
Sometimes it it's chilly out I will wear two gloves. Also if I'm testing multiple golf balls in a day
