    The difference in ball speed with 7 iron likely came down to your strike (you had a more downward attack angle with the Pro V1, likely leading to more solid contact). Today's Golfer did a robot test a few months ago and on their robot 7 iron test the Triad actually had 0.3 mph faster ball speed then the Pro V1. Both were around 5600-5700 spin. Either way this Triad ball is an incredible bargain... They're $49 Canadian dollars here vs the Pro V1 being $72 canadian. Literally $23 CAD difference.

      Hi Enzy! Yep that’s highly likely! Good call!
      I do hit a LOT of shots in each part of the test. It’s usually close to 180 shots so 90 per ball split across 4 types of shots but regardless whilst my content is relatable because I am an average golfer with that comes the risk that I am always the biggest variable and I do try to be objective where I can and call out subtle differences in delivery which can influence results.
      Regarding Canadian prices and the Triad being a bargain; it’s hard to disagree! Thanks for watching my video, giving my channel a go and for your great comment! All the best! 👍🏼

    I bought a dozen Triad balls and floated them in salt water to see how many were perfectly balanced. ALL 12 OF THEM were perfectly balanced. I’ve been playing them for 4 weeks and they are the most accurate balls I’ve ever played.

    At 63 years old, I am not much of a fan of stats and data... I rely mostly on feel and performance during my game and have used almost every kind of ball on the market. I prefer a harder ball, and was mostly using Titelist Velocity... however, for some reason, they do not make them in yellow... recently, I tried the Wilson Triad yellow and am quite pleased with how it performs on the course... as long as any other ball I have tried. Very durable as well. Fits my game perfectly.

I’d never consider gaming a Wilson ball where they, perhaps, aren’t as ‘fashionable’ or popular as the bigger brands who pump loads into marketing but the numbers were great throughout and it’s at a really competitive price point in the ball market so credit to Wilson. @@weekendtourpros Thank you. Yes, our research is for just that purpose but a couple of factors thwart efforts for cut and dry consistency: 1. brands regularly "upgrade" their ball model design or even cease model production altogether. The mitigation of buying a lifetime's supply in the sale leads to... factor 2. plastic and rubber have finite shelf and play lives, especially in higher UV climates, and that's before wear and tear (YT could do with a vlog on fresh vs stale vs played vs high UV-exposed balls). Like vehicle tyres, balls which appear visually intact (eg. new-in-box) shouldn't be assumed to play consistently beyond a 5 year shelf life.

    Thank you for your outstanding review. I have used the Triad for about a year and have been quite pleased with it. The relatively low spin off my drives tends to keep them straight yet it gives Pro V1 stopping power on the greens. Among the premium balls, the Triad may offer the best value per dollar.

      My thought exactly. I'm over a year in to using it the triad now and I'm most pleased that my drives stay straighter and short shots spin to a halt really well.

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mike! Thanks for watching my video and for the kind comment about the format! I’ve hit a few putts with the Wilson but only on an indoor putting mat rather than an actual green and I think its always hard to give a conclusive opinion when that’s your only evidence but my gut instinct was that they did feel similar to the Pro V1…
      I personally prefer the Tour Response over the Wilson; it’s the ball I’ve gamed longer than any ball ever without wanting to change it and where I’m experimenting at the moment, it’s the one I always go back to as my benchmark. But that’s as much to do with the soft feel as it is the performance as like you say the Wilson spins more in my hands. However if I was looking for Pro v1 performance and feel without the price point I would game this Wilson though… hope that helps! 👍🏼

    • @mikechislett3115
      @mikechislett3115 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@weekendtourpros I'm currently gaming the tour response stripe, started with it this year to work on putting and i love the alignment aid, don't know if i can give it up, though i wouldn't mind a bit more greenside spin...triad is another good option though...i am not willing to pay for proV1.

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That all makes sense Mike! I putt with a line on my ball so tried the stripe originally and really enjoyed them. The only reason I don’t game that version is that I often found it difficult to find in the rough due to the grass/stripe being similar colours. Now that more colour options are available in the UK I do keep reconsidering it! 👍🏼

    try using the same swing with the 7 iron . you looked at the smash factor of everything but the 7 iron . which was worse on the triad. if it mattered on the rest it mattered on the 7. if it had been the same the triad would have come out on top. but at least you displayed the club head speed.

      Hi Film Them All Watcher! Thanks for watching my video! It was a good few months ago now that I filmed this review but my overriding memory was that the ball was excellent overall throughout the bag. I do always say that in the biggest variable here and I do try to keep the data on screen for people to interpret it in their own way too so if I’ve missed the smash factor on the 7 iron that’s an omission on my part but I wouldn’t let that change my overarching conclusions on the ball in my hands, in this test! Yes, a very fair test. Performance is what I see. Now, I don’t hit a driver, I hit a Cleveland 2 hybrid. I can get it out there about 210 total, playing from the senior tees. I’m 70. I do play other balls to see how they play. Yesterday I played Precept Laddie in a scramble, off the tee for a few holes. It’s a long ball, then switched to my old reliable Pro V1 (last years model) was pleased with that as well. I will play the Inesis 900 Tour today for 6, then Triad for 6, then ProV1 for 6. I may hit a Diawing, two piece on the par fives. Thanks again Luke!

    A lower smash factor can mean two things.

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Golfish! Totally agree. I say this a lot in my videos that as a 13 handicapper with a an average swing speed my content is super relatable but with that comes the risk that I am the biggest variable in the tests given my skill level.
      However to negate point 2 I hit about 20-25 shots with each ball in each part of the test and that allows me to remove the couple of really bad shots that would unfairly skew the data one way or the other and I do try to mix the balls up a bit to negate impacts of fatigue. It’s not perfect but it’s the best I can do. I also don’t think my swing on the day changes too much but it does from week to week so I avoid comparing data sets from two different days! Hi Stacey! Thanks for watching my video and for your comment. I normally show dispersion in my club reviews but in my ball reviews I don’t usually bother as I’m a bigger variable in terms of dispersion than the ball. I hit about 15 shots with each ball in each part of the test and take out any ‘horrible’ shots that I hit as a handicap golfer which would unfairly skew the numbers (e.g. a chunked 7 iron that goes 130 yards). As a result there’s never a lot in it which is why I don’t show it. However happy to share it or show it in future! Thank you for the constructive feedback! Have a great day! 👍🏼
