Can a Wilson golf ball really be compared to the likes of the Titleist Pro V1, Taylormade TP5, Bridgestone Tour BX, and Callaway Chromesoft? We take the time to test and review Wilson’s Staff Model premium golf ball, to see how it compares to the best golf balls out there!
Among our tests, we did a blind test and created a softness chart, testing which of these premium golf balls had a softer feel, and which was firmer. The Wilson Staff Model golf ball was closest in softness to the Titleist Pro V1 and Kirkland Signature golf ball.
A big part of our tests for the Wilson Staff Model ball had to do with feel around the green, doing multiple chips, pitch shots, putts, and shots out of the sand.

I’ve been playing this ball for months now. It’s amazing! It compares closer to the ProV1X, except slightly clickier sounding, slightly longer, and slightly more green side spin. For me, anyways….

That’s cool if they become a big name golf brand. I’ll definitely start checking them out and seeing how they feel. Maybe see how they compare to big name brands in distance and height. Could be cool to see the difference.

Right!? It's nice to see Wilson up there with the big boys! I honestly couldn't tell a difference in height or distance compared to the Pro V1. The ball seemed to be hitting all of my numbers.

So you didn't do any testing other than chipping around the greens? No spin numbers or wedge/iron/drivers? No launch conditions or ball speed tests?

We know there are other companies and channels that give the spin numbers, distance, data, etc. We wanted to provide opinion of play, feel, and comparison to other premium balls. And then give an opinion from average golfers for playability and value.

One of the best balls out there right now. I'd put it against anything even the prov1 x and that's saying something. It's definitely as long if not longer than the zstar which for me is one of the longest I've played.

gonna try this ball....golf town currently has them buy 2 dozen get 1 free.....so thats 43.00 ( Canadain ) or 33.00 (US) ...I use the Callaway chrome soft Truvis and like them but am gonna try these Wilson balls....your thoughts ?.... cheers from Canada

This ball is also very spinny. Low spin players should give this a look.

Spinny like a ProV1. We remember the stark difference of ball spin the first time we used a premium ball, like the ProV1. It makes a difference when getting the ball to sit on greens.

What makes a ball a premium ball?

Construction is usually 3 or 4 layers. This in turn makes the ball feel softer/better off of your club and produces more controlled spin. If you ever get the chance, go find a Titleist Pro V1 and a Top Flite ball and give each of them a putt...you will be able to tell a difference imediately.
