I never understood why the girlies would wear concealer that is a shade lighter. When you wear a concealer in your exact shade it makes you look so much healthier and youthful, like you just came back from St lucia and you have a perfect tan. Plus if you have eye bags your exact shade or darker is best for making the bag appear flat. The light concealer enhances the bulging.
I just realized this summer from a candid photo of myself that I was wearing the wrong foundation. I think it was a mix of doing my makeup under LED lighting, matching my face (that never gets sun because of SPF/ hats) instead of my chest, and a big dose of makeup blindness. I'm so glad I saw that photo cause I was walking around probably having people think that I have self hatred and think I'm lighter than I am. Yikes, haha
I still go lighter but not my much. It’s like 1/2 shade difference. I also wear two foundations. My face is darker on the edges. I just try to make it look like my skin but better.
I used to contour my nose when I first learned how to do makeup, because it’s just what ppl were doing, but when I learned what it was meant to do I immediately stopped!
I started wearing full face makeup at 23 (I’m 26, now). I know how to beat my face real well but I refuse to contour my nose. It’s actually one of my favorite features and that’s something I like on men, too. A big, crooked nose. Even better when they have big nostrils lol. I remember wanting a nose job when I was younger. I already had a Turkish surgeon chosen to do it. I was on TH-cam watching ethnic rhinoplasties very often, dreaming about having one. I prayed about it, because I wasn’t 100% sure that was a good idea and that it would please God. Well a few days after that prayer, I had a very real dream where I was looking at the mirror, examining my nose. And the Holy Spirit said : « I am removing any self hate concerning big noses ». I woke up feeling free and I have not watched rhinoplasty videos or wanted a nose job since then. Thank God ! One thing I hate on black women : the extreme, dark lashes. It does nothing for most of us. I like lash extensions that are adapted to the face and eye shape. But the extreme ones got to go. I find that most black women have beautiful eyes but these lashes ruin their beauty. To each their own, I guess.
For me..I do my makeup like lauryn hill. However bw who do alternative makeup and styles its different. Like gyaru embraces darker skin as a way to rebel with japanese beauty standards so black woman naturally gravitate towards it!
And a bw doing corspe paint is way different from wearing a light foundation. Like why are you trying to wear a lightskin foundation when you are dark it makes no sense?
@@UniqaLinesHeyy it’s you again (Ps: I am currently typing out my story to email to you❤) and yes I agree every time I go on tiktok and see a black girl with makeup on it looks wayy too light
I agree 100% with you and I myself do not wear makeup and maintain long natural hair. People will hate on your opinion because they hate themselves for not being able to love themsleves for who they are. I honestly believe we should just forgo all beauty trends and hair trends but people alwasy come down at me for this despite their being research stating that relaxers are linked to cancer and other diseases or that using synthetic hair in wigs or extensions can lead to diseases due to the chemicals they coat the hair in or even that makeup can cause acene and even cancer with some of the ingredients in the products

I truly appreciate the message you're sharing in this video! A lot of us need to hear this because oftentimes girlfriends and people irl don't have to heart to tell you if you're walking around looking crazy. We need more content like this to open the conversation! I'm Liberian and Italian, with my mother's African facial features. All of my features are well balanced, but much bigger than the average monoracial Black American- I've been made to feel quite ugly by Black people, and am even excluded by even biracial spaces because of featurism. My insecurities around the things I was bullied for have taken a lifetime to break through.. This sounds silly, but learning how SLAY my makeup and nose contour has been a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR part of my healing and how I've grown to have so much confidence. Taking control of my image helps me feel like I can "control" how I am being perceived. Even if I have nose contour blindness ( I don't think so, most of my friends think that I don't wear makeup at all even tho I'm wearing 10+ different products) it helps me feel good enough to show up in the world and get on camera and grow my business without feeling insecure about my nose.
I completely agree with your take on nose contour. I stopped contouring my nose because I didn't like how it made me look. I looked pretty, but frankly I felt like it was erasing one of my black features and I didn't like that.
Agreed,I do asian makeup style (east asian makeup) because many of them usually have rounder noses, anf softer features overal whereas european makeup is more suitable for people with angular features (high and slim nose, defined cheekbones/Jawlines,angular eyebrows, etc).
I don’t buy from L’Oréal because they said they don’t want black people buying from them 🤷🏽♀️ I heard this from my mother when trying to get into makeup

I absolutely agree with the shade issue like, why ?? 🥲 nowadays many brands have expended their shade range you have to try to find which is right for you.
04:53- This is my winter/spring/autumn(fall) shade. I'm darker than this rn. I just don't own a summer shade as I tend to prioritse sunscreen!
Everyone looks sm better without nose contour genuinely
I have a wide nose, and when I started doing makeup I didnt contour my nose cos I didn’t know how to, but then began to like my makeup without it 😭😭

This is actually a good tip, I didn’t know as I have small eye bags! Thank you for this

Under eye concealor should be 1 shade lighter but that's it to brighten the under eye area

Amen!!! I have a naturally narrow nose. I prefer men with wide noses...I think wide noses are sexy and powerful
We love all noses round here :))
LOVE wide noses on women. Makes your face look so nicely harmonious and filled out
Like Rihanna, love her nose
Honestly a good skin care routine and some lipgloss will do for me. I do have a makeup collection but I just like to play in it.
Same
black opal brand is great for dark skin girls in the us. sold at walmart

It’s not just nose contour. I find people less attractive after they get nose jobs. Doesn’t matter about gender or race. 😊
Asian makeup techniques work very well on you because we have similar features
