Hey Sean, I just received my first GoPro. A GoPro Hero 11 Black, yesterday. I have found your videos to be greatly informative and they have been highly influential in my choice. Since it showed up yesterday, I have done some practice Vogging and Star-trails, and I am very pleased with the results! Looking forward to more of your reviews and your valuable insight! Have a great day, Tom. ✌️😎
I liked your relaxed presentation. You weren't talking like you were in a race. That's a good thing and makes things easier to understand what you are trying to say. Great video. Thank you!
I love the Go Pro 11! Hands down the Best ever Released! 10 had so much problems, freezing & overheating! The 11 been so Smooth & No Problems! Thankyou Go Pro for getting it Down! 💯 🔨
I have a GoPro Hero 9 which I am quite happy with, except it doesn't do well with sunrise or sunset video recording, it just doesn't like poor lighting (video is not sharp), I would up grade to the Hero-11 if this was much improved? Great clip.
I had sold my hero 9, purchased hero 10, now sold 10 and purchased 11, but honestly say still low light is a great hurdle in the way of good filming with gopro !
Amazing review. I'm planning on buying a GoPro for myself on Christmas so every positive and negative review is good. In some of the videos I've heard people say there's a lot of problems and then there's people like you that never had a single problem with it. Hope there won't be any problems. The footage is just stunning. Amazing quality, amazing stabilization and the difference between 8-bit and 10-bit colors is pretty big I'd say. What was really holding me back from buying a GoPro or generally a newer action camera was that the video quality was great but the photos not so much and then I would get to a point where I would film with my GoPro but if I wanted to take a picture I would have to take out my phone to take a better quality photo. Now that both photos and videos are amazing I think it's absolutely worth it to buy the GoPro Hero 11 I have an action camera I bought in 2016 and it's pretty bad for what you can have today. The max resolution it can film in is 1080 and with only 30 FPS, has no stabilization, can film for like 3 minutes before the battery is dead and the photos are pretty much unusable. I was using it when snorkeling in Egypt because I didn't have enough money to buy the newest GoPro so rather than buying like a GoPro 7 I think it's worth it to save up some money and buy the Hero 11 the snorkeling was absolutely amazing the problem was that the battery was dead almost immediately, the quality wasn't so great, colors were awful if there wasn't sun shining at the reef and I literally had to turn the camera off after every shot because if I didn't the battery would die in like a minute. It takes maybe like 10 seconds for it to turn back on so you can imagine that there was so many moments that were absolutely amazing but I couldn't film because my camera was turning on. Once I had an eagle ray like 5 meters away from me. It was swimming just a few inches above the reef and before the camera turned on the eagle ray was already swimming away so I only got a video of it swimming away. There was a lot of moments that I could film and I missed them because of it. The fish wouldn't wait like 10 seconds for my camera to turn on. Before it turned on the fish was already either gone or swimming away from me so you couldn't even see it at all. At least some of the videos are usable. I took almost 500 videos on that vacation. Not a lot of them were usable. Most of them are extremely shaky or it just doesn't look good.
@Olivier La Buse Do you not see the difference between 8 bit and 10 bit color? There's a pretty big difference. The 10 bit color looks more realistic and does way better when for an example you're filming against the sun. It also does way better when it's a bit darker, the shadows look better. It's a lot better that 8 bit color. Also never heard anyone say the image isn't sharp. Most of the time it's maybe too sharp I'd say. And of course the software sharpens the photos. If I would buy a phone that has better photo quality it would literally do the same. That's why it's sharper. I want to get the GoPro because of the water resistance and also being able to take good photos and good videos. The thing about the camera being buggy is I guess sometimes true. Some people do have problems with it but I'd say it's a pretty small percentage. I've heard way more people say they haven't got a single problem than that it sucks and it's buggy. Hero 8 was released 3 years ago. The Hero 11 is whole 3 generations higher. If you don't have the hero 11 or at least the hero 10 you can't tell me that it's a buggy camera when you don't even own the GoPro. And if you're looking on a video on your phone in like 1080p and then you say that the 10 bit color is not so better than there's the problem. The hero 11 improved in a lot of things.
Unfortunately another TH-camr tested it and found the 10bit was 420 and not 422 😕 Otherwise this may be my first GoPro seems fantastic. Would love to mount it on some drones
I returned mine. The scheduled capture didn't work at all. No confirmation or help form Gopro for the issue. I have used Hero9's and 10 with external power source and scheduled capture (4K video) a lot. Seems to be a firmware bug, but probably folks don't use Gopro 11 that way as I do...
Great review and lovely shots of my beloved Niagara region (Canadian side of the border)! I own Hero8 and do similar videography like you (without the FPV drone stuff). Would you recommend upgrading to H11 or wait for future editions of this otherwise great product?
It really depends it’s a great camera. There are some new features I really like about it but it depends what your needs are. Of course there will be a hero 12 in about five months so if you’re in no hurry, you may wanna wait but if you want to capture now, then it definitely is a great camera.
I totally agree about the flexibly of the 8:7 I just release a video about it on my channel, but I was wondering do you have those weird artificial lines in the video when shooting in 8:7? it is especially visible when you rotate the camera, it's not too bad but it's definitely visible to me and it's not there when I shoot at 16:9...
Great video. I have the 10 and yes, great image stabilization, great video, but it still locks up like the other 2 versions I have had. Really unbelievable they did not correct this nagging problem. For this reason alone maybe upgrade to the 11. Although for this reason I have been looking at the competition. Most of my gopro videos are motorcycle rides and the auto leveling takes a bit of excitement out. When watching previous version videos people commented how they would kind of tilt their head while watching (me too). With the 10 some of this goes away because they are leveling the landscape. Is there a way to turn this feature off?
Nice 30 day in review, these GoPro's just keeping better each year. But at this point these cameras are very refined so the changes are not earth shattering, especially if you owned last. years model. Video quality is excellent for a action camera and stabilization is near perfect. Low light performance is what I would have suspected it to be. Great video Shawn, thanks for sharing.
Hi Sean, you have a new subscriber. Great video!!!. During this year I bought my first motocycle and looking for my first action camera... I have no experience at all using a GoPro. I really appreciate your video and hoping to learn more about it. Greetings from México.
The only reason I didn't buy the hero 11 and bought the Osmo Action 3 is ... subscription services. I never buy any product that forces me to buy a subscription. Hence dumped all my ADOBE products. IN this case to be able to get the excellent pricing. So, Osmo A3 is my game for the next hear of action videos.
Nice vid! Was that the Niagara River? I have a suggestion for a video. The GoPro Labs QR code allows the camera to shoot at 180 Mbps. That should boost the image quality a fair bit. It would be interesting to do a back to back comparison of it.
Well, you know with a GoPro there’s a limit to file size so if you’re recording a long video, you get several segments. With the hero 11’s file size is larger end up with one video file
@@AirPhotography ah ok. I wish GoPro would allow a new file for each minute. Sometimes I accidentally do not press stop recording. Most of my clips are 1 min or under. I would be interested in knowing the file size difference between cameras at 4K 60fps and 2.7K60fps. I use a 1080p timeline anyways. Saving space and battery is important for me
No mention of the connectivity which is constantly failing. After I call them I Monday to ask about this app issue. I'm most likely will be retuning it after I speak to them. Very very disappointed because I thought that this would be fixed. I've had every gopro and they all fail when it comes to using the app. It's key for me and I have to have it reliable. It works but 50 percent of the time it does not. Bummer because other wise I really like this camera.
I’m still debating between the A3 and 11. I still consider myself new but the A3 seems to blow out the whites easier. Is that able to be adjusted out? Also, are you going to review the A3’s 10 bit update when it’s available? How will that help image quality?
im in the same boat. Ive heard problems with unreliability with go pros in the past. I need a camera I can feel at least 95% confient with. Wich one did you end up choosing?
Too heavy for FPV. Even the new mini is 133G. Which is still heavier than the hero 8 at approximately 120g 🤷🏽♂️. And yet the Hero 8 has two screens fail on GoPro’s part IMO. Great video Sean 👍🏽
Nice review! I just received the Action 3 a few days ago and I really, really wanted to love that camera (I love pretty much everything DJI) but the new Osmo seems half backed in terms of image quality. My Hero 11 arrives today and it looks like I’ll be sticking with Go Pro for another season. I just wish Go Pro let me use my DJI wireless mic system without the Media Mod. Thanks Shawn!
Whoever is reading this, i pray that whatever you’re going through gets better and whatever you’re struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
I actually had one on order. But the shipping times to Canada were well over a month away so I canceled it once I was reading about all the focusing issues I may still order one yet. I have no affiliation with GoPro I’ve never had any contact with them. I really enjoy the phone factor of the action 2 that’s one of my favorite action cameras
@Air Photography Thank you for acknowledging my comment, i would still appreciate a DJI action 3 review as I am looking to move on from my Gopro 9, I highly respect your opinion and have somewhat lost faith in Gopro, thx again
👍 indeed. But believe it or not, I’ve lost over 50 pounds since spring on my E bike. I actually do peddle it quite a bit and a healthier diet. Still a long way to go but it’s a good start.
You can pedal an e-bike with selectable manual power input. I can get 180kms on mine.. and I'm not in great shape. Much of the time assistance is not really needed, but it's nice to have.. on the flat I normally don't use assistance.

thought you were gonna stop the ride to demonstrate auto boost expanding the fov because there was little stabilization needed.
