Right considering the new nasci is the old stradic for 100 dollars, they always pass down the stradic to a nasci every time a new one comes out so why even bother with a stradic or vanford for what they cost.
Both would work super well, but I would swing into your local tackle shop and feel both to see what you prefer. They are quite different as far as feel goes. Also, a 2500 size would be best. Hope this helps!
One thing to consider is if you are using the 500-2000 size reels more for ultra light finesse fishing then usually you will be using a light enough test line that will fail or break before the maximum drag on the reel will be what causes a problem.
What a great video, nice job bro . . . Gulf of Mexico Application: I own the Sedona Fi and FJ, but the Nasci is on my radar for sure. So thanks for dropping this!
I've had a sedona 1000 for around 14 years and it's been great, I use it for freshwater creek fishing and I cant fault it at all. I recently bought a Sedona 5000 and a Nasci 4000, For the minor price difference the Nasci is the better bang for buck. I took them both out the other day offshore and landed a 1m mack tuna on the Nasci. Definitely rate it, a great reel!!
That was something I should’ve mentioned in the video, but all 3 reels do contain the Hagane gears. I think it’s a big reason why I love Shimano products so much, the smoothness on all 3 are unmatched for their price points. More info on the Hagane gears can be found on their website as well. Appreciate the comment, thanks for bringing this up!
I’ll probably be going for a nasci 4000 or 5000 xgfc (that would do probably 99% of the fish I want around my area) kinda got burnt a bit with shimano and got a sienna 4000fg combo …only to realise that when I was fishing it can’t reel for crap ….then I opened it because I thought it was strange that it barely had cranking power …to find it had all plastic gears ….and my answer was found ….so I’m giving them 1 more shot and going for the nasci fingers crossed it has a bit more crank
@@humbugvideos dude I just tested it out (got a 5000) not on a huge fish but we will say a 1kg fish) and it performed a hell of a lot better than that sienna …this is what I was hoping Shimano would be like …paired it with a Daiwa rod and it performs pretty solid …the drag is amazing …so smooth to wind …(has a bit of crank even under some tension ) I reckon this boy could tackle some big fellas …more than I will ever need 😎 glad I gave Shimano a second chance 😎 glad I watched this vid cheers 🥂
Something I've learned about shimano is the lower drag strengths generally are in the light line finesse category and higher drags are in the power fishing line. Shimano has the two lines of reels for a reason. There is no actual comparison due to they are meant for two different fishing styles/techniques. Now the components may be comparable in some ways.
The only difference in the 2022 Sahara and the NASCI is the rubber seals and asthetics. Tear it down or just look at the pars list. They are identical.
great review man! I'm wondering if you could help me with one of the question that I have. I'm currently looking for a st croix trout series. That's means I'm looking for a trout setup, what would be the reel you would suggest to paired this rod
The Sedona in a 1000 size would pair up really nice with that, if you’re looking for something higher end I’d check out the Vanford or the Tatulas. Hope this helps👍🏽
Thanks for the reply, just want to be sure when you say tatula it’s from daiwa right? Because I always have heard that shimano reel are better than daiwa, but maybe I’m wrong
Great video! As beginner what rod and reel do you recommend. I really want to get into fishing but I know nothing. I would like to start racking up some fishing hrs. I would like to fish trout, catfish, carp and even bass.
Hi, which one of the three would you use for jogging or wacky rings ? Thanks ! I currently cast with a Sahara for Bass, Pike/Musky, Perch, Walleye, Trout, but jig and wacky with my Nasci, both C3000HG. I don’t have a Sedona.
I'm from Australia and I thanks for your video. I'm sure going to get the SHIMANO Nasci 2500 for my 6"6' ultra light rod and the 3000 for my 7" light rod. Thanks 😊
Ive been using Shimano for 20years and they are amazing reels.
I used the sahara for a year now worth the price tag!
I use the Sedona c5000xg for pier fishing, will be trying it for plugs and spoons in the summer 💪🏽
Love the rear drag quick adjust of the Saharas. I have 3 in different weights. Get them before they are gone!
You always do a great job on all of your videos... Keep up the great work!!!
Appreciate it, thank you!
For the money, the Shimano Nasci is really hard to beat. I personally find myself using that reel more than I do my Shimano Vanquish or Twin Power.
Right considering the new nasci is the old stradic for 100 dollars, they always pass down the stradic to a nasci every time a new one comes out so why even bother with a stradic or vanford for what they cost.

I thought Hagane simply means steel, what’s the fuss about hagane?
Could you please advise best reel size for 7 feet spinning rod. Please help clear.
1000-2500 would work best!

Yah the Siennas are not my favorite, let’s just say that. You’ll see a huge step up with the Nasci

The shimano sahara, sedona, nasci in 2500 series has the same max drag power of 9kg or around 20lbs.
Came here to say the same, the Sedona has a 9kg/20lb drag rating. Bit of a mix up there.
Hi, is it a 2500 sahara reel too big for a 6ft light rod?
No that would still work! If your just fishing for trout and panfish I’d go to a 1000 size though
@@humbugvideos how about for shore casting light 8.6ft rod?
@@kulas8325 what species are u targeting? For all around I’d go 2500
Hey bro, do you know which shimano spools are interchangeable with shimano sedona reel?
I honestly don’t know, I’ve never swapped out spools before. Maybe check for forums online?

Crazy the number of models they make.

Me too, totally agree!
Very happy with my sedona
What is best reel size for 10 feet spining rode please
I say 10 ft, medium light to medium, a size 4000 will be just right. If its a heavie rod, youd need a bigger reel.
