Sigh.... memories. I walked along this beach holding line from my Dad's reel while he untangled massive birdnests. Thankfully he learnt to cast with his overhead reel quickly. Nice fish. That reel looks like a performer!
Love watching starlo be watch my hole life now carnt get enough fishing. Love the new reel.looks good .hoping to get my one .one day. Woulbe orsum for fishing in Queensland. Fresh or salty water. 😊
What a beaut of a morning! I’ve just set up mine for surf, the older Sedona 2500 with a spool of cheap 6lb kastking 12 strand braid,it’s a full 300m filled neat! I’m so far impressed with the lines casting and handling performance no wind knots or other concerns and casting into a stiff nor easter with 20g the distance is impressive! I’m yet to test it’s knot vs rated strength and durability, there’s a spool of power pro in the bag just in case!
Love those beach fishing videos Starlo.Looks a good reel. Love my Shimano Ultegra 14000xtc . Hopefully I get a few mullet that size in the cast net tomorrow morning. Love fresh mullet.😊
Hi Starlo mate that is a lovely beach that headland is very nice looks great where is that area mate would love to have a look at that ripper looking spot
I see the reel is American style left side handle. Although I’ve loved watching you fish all my life I’ve never noticed that lots of your reels are like this👌👍it’s a great morning fishing when you get a couple tasty species. Your dinner looked amazing🍺🍺
Yep. Actually, winding spin reels with with the non-dominant hand isn't just American - it's the rest of the world apart from Australia and New Zealand! ;) There's no "right" or "wrong" way, but if you get the chance, have a look at this one I did on the subject: th-cam.com/video/iBQvIgTW7_I/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
@@StarloGetsReel - I tried LH winding on my threadlines, but much prefer righthanded. Funny that many LH winders on threadlines are still using right handed baitcasters! Shimano makes LH baitcasters and they are readily available, but it hasn't caught on. End of the day, it's all personal preference. My best mate uses a closed face spinning reel and will never change.
Hi Mate, can you describe the rig you were using. Was it a small ball running sinker down to small swivel with an adjustable Snell hook?. I didn't think mullet like pillies?, was I wrong?
You've pretty much nailed it, although the snell is fixed. Most mullet don't usually fancy pillies, but the yellow-eye is a different beast and quite carnivorous!
@@EzraSwannellFishing No. I do what I choose, and I choose to use Shimano gear. I have for 30 odd years. I haven’t seen any reason to change. I’m sure there’s plenty of other good gear out there, but if it ain’t broke… 😉
should stick the mullet out live i bet there was a big jew stalking them. mullet that is one species i really wish were a targetable species instead of lucky accident
Hmmm. Sounds like extremely good value to me for a reel of that calibre. I wish there'd been gear as good as that and as affordable when I was a younger angler.

It is!
Absolute beautiful feed there well done starlo and jo another brilliant episode
Thanks so much!
Best reel for the money hands down! I just retired my Sedona 2500 after 20 years of fresh and saltwater use…
Yes, incredible "bang for buck". You really don't need to spend a fortune on gear these days, that's for sure.
@@StarloGetsReel 👍🏻🎣
Good one Starlo, I like my older Sedona's, still going strong after around 15 years. Don't mind a mullet or two for the smoker as well.
Cheers!
My my my Sedona. 😂 love it
Love see you both fish such a great experience doing it with your wife
Thanks 👍
Another masterpiece Steve. Shimano kicked a goal when they engaged you mate! Now I’ve got that tune in my head 😵💫
Nice one! Me too!
Nice one Starlo. Love your work.
Thank you kindly!

Good to the winner
Could be you! Are you entered?
Starlo's got The Knack.
🤣 Spot on.

Was about to say, after watching this I pulled my old one out after about 3 years, forgot how good a reel it is for the money.

Fresh or smoked, delicious.
Oh yes!
Nice morning fish you pair, well done, so you are happy with the 2500 sedona?
the fish cakes looked fantastic, cheers.
Yes I am! Thanks for that.
Always love going fishing together With my wife too. My best fishing bady. Special if she always out fish me. LoL 😂 🤣 😆
Right on!
smoked mullet is good!
Sure is! Scrum-diddley-umptious!
Do you feel a huge difference between the Sedona and say the Vanford or Stradic? And if so, what do you find the biggest difference is?
Very little difference straight out of the box. I think the differences show more after a year or two of fairly intensive use.
Hi Starlo mate that is a lovely beach that headland is very nice looks great where is that area mate would love to have a look at that ripper looking spot
Thanks 👍 It's at Tuross Head, on the far south coast of NSW.

Sorry if I came across as a dig, I definitely didn’t mean it like that. Just saying I’ve never realised before

@@TrailerYacht completely agree. Whatever works for you. I talk about why I don’t use lefty baitcaster s in that same video mentioned above.
Another informative vid..What outfit is Jo using, looks like a nice light rod but fairly stiff...
Cheers. Jo's on another (older) version of the Catana Coastline Light/light Surf rod I'm using. We love 'em! She's running a Vanford reel.

Nice video
Thanks!
I remember that one hit wonder from the Knack lol, what rod were you using please?
Yes, they didn't have much of note after that! But I remember wearing it out on the juke box when I was at uni. ;)
Hey Starla great vid. Just wondering how far do you cats out while beach fishing?
Normally not far. I'd guess 30 to 50 metres?
Cool thanks 😎
Any tips on targeting that size mullet I find it hard to catch
Those yellow-eye are pretty keen. Just try what I did in the video - drag your bait in close!
👍
Cheers!
Do you know if there are many mullet along the 90 mile beach?
No, sorry, I’ve never fished it.
There are a Lot of gummy shark around at the moment :)@@StarloGetsReel
What rod are you using?
One of the Shimano Catana Coastline Lights. Love 'em!
Ever try a Daiwa infeet? I know you’re Mr Shimano but it can’t hurt to give it a go behind the scenes.

True enough! Didn't have the heavier gear with me though. Luckily tose yellow-eyes are a pretty regular bait eater.
160$ price point for the sedona - these " " classic "" reels are getting spastically expensive
