Simply... one of AE's best song... for in those days... Autechre for sure took an other route in creating music. I know many people liked their first albums and they can't feel the vibe of their new work anymore. AE is more like a science of music in the form of sound impressions... True masters of electronics...
Indeed. Check out their albums Tri Repeate and Amber, when you look for more tunes like that. Their music style changed a lot from the older tracks. I think this track, used in the clip, was released shortly or some month after they had released a, can't remember the name of the EP right now, ep that had also hypnotic tunes but with changing samples through out the tracks. Because back then the government of the UK tried to ban monoton electronic music, for some fallacious reasons. "That kind music makes people take drugs". As if everyone that listens or is surrounded by monoton sounds automatically is forced to take "drugs". By that logic, anyone that listens to monoton rain coming down while standing in a forrest would have to behave like they claimed. Ridicolsosususussssss But it would create wonderful warning signs like "WARNING: DON'T STAY IN THE ROOM WHILE THE WASHING MACHINE IS RUNNING." "DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR BREATH WHEN YOU BREATHE IN MONOTON RIDDIM...rippid ripped."
dont be silly. there is exceptionally good music being made now, just as it was 10 years ago or 20 years ago, or as far into the future as humans exist
Excellent work...ARTwork. Just came home from getting' smokeable coffin nails in the middle of the night. And was surprised when I heard that one of my favorite Autechre tracks is playing and then I got remembered of the beauty of existence while I stared paralyzed at the moving pictures on the retina display. "Nightshade like trip", crossed my mind. Well done!
Amazing. I love this video, 'edging on genius'. I keep coming back to this edit, beautifully atmospheric, incoherent and all the better for it. I think it reminds me of the video in The Ring!
god bless this is exactly why i love the internet bro this very well maybe close to the first top 5 tabs pon the intro web yaanoo …. …. …. thanks again much so for sharing your vision's visuals add along with audio ruffage pon Mr. Sean Booth & Mr. Rob Brown audio surely one of the three y'alls must be christian so therefore => "Peace In The Middle East!" omg..foil combined with this b/w video brings tears of joy to my eyes.. it just fits perfect together. the footage of the WW2 and the aerial views from the bombed cityscapes is so powerful in its visual expression and the track perfectly captures the intense feelings of anxiety this vid creates. watchin this brings me in a dark and but also lovley and almost euphoric mood^^ ...very great work ..i´d rather like to see less bullshit and more stuff like this one here on youtube
i think this song warrants more abstract primal mysterious imagery... the beginning, as zimant said, was excellent... it doesnt want any kind of perceivable narrative though, just images...
Thank fekk you didn't venture Lisa Stansfields Studio. Not taking anything away guys but fekk me, it's hard to get your bonce around the fact that a borough steeped in Gracy Fields an poverty, has produced possibly the best fekking act to step so far into the future, the establishment have shat their pants. Nice one, dudes.
Apathetically staring while sitting at a red light on a dark summer night, new moon. Hostile green, blue, and amber glares of street lights. Playing Foil through the radio with a shitty cigarette lighter transmitter. A crackly airing of a late night talk show intrudes in the background...
@KphexTwin00 beatiful day in the summer ,is the only BoC track i remember ......classic though . always wondered was the version i heard live . or deliberately thin sounding
I think most, if not all, people who listen to Autechre would also be fans of Boards of Canada. If ya never heard of them, shame on you! Autechre, BoC, and Aphex Twin would be in my top 10 artists of all time
Dude. I love your video. I'm an aspiring film-maker myself, just now in pre-production with my second short film. This was inspiring. I suppose you graduated now. Have you made any other shorts?

Sick track. The rhythm is hypnotic.

@Bengaltiger1 Nostalgia was better back in the day.
This song is perfect for driving on the highway at night. Those orange lights.
Do you have a license for that, hero?
licenseless rider yeah, always when he sitting on his toilet
step out of the vechile for me
the way the percussion keeps getting more intense until it reaches its limit and completely collapses in on itself at 4:58 is very emotional to me
Probably my most favourite piece of music EVER!
Nice, feels like some cheeky tech-gremlins playing the bongos & xylophone on my whole spine
Excellent work...ARTwork.

21st century Autobahn driving music.
One of their all time classic tracks. Utterly alien but quite addictive.
Been comming back to this track so often through the years, it really resonates with me
the track that made me fall in love with these guys' music
The perfect opening track for this album, I imagine being lost in a desert
An alltime classic tune that influenced me on so many levels!
this is it.I could listen to this the whole day long, without guilt.Thankyou....clever
Deeply disturbing and scarefully comforting. Love the track, love your work.
You're an amazingly talented filmmaker. More than impressed; I'm inspired.

anything looks outlandish with this tune in the background
One of their best ever tracks. So minimal but so so original.
The footage nearer the end of video combined with the music is really great.
i`m new with autechre but they impressed me, so i`m downloading entire discography to make sure i could like them.
Love it, been comming back to this clip for years, weldome comrade

+music is a secret but video sux
I think its enigmatic video strange sinister impression, I mean how old is that clip, looks old.
+music is a secret The description says: "Music Video
My first student video captured on 35mm film foil
2001" ;)
Just what I needed for this moment right now. Something to just BE in. Thanks.
The foil makes an interesting snare. Great sounds!
video perfectly suits with the music
great work
1:24 that change came out of nowhere....trippyyyyyy
I play the Amber album and drift off to Neverland. I think it makes my dreams more dynamic. Perhaps you should give it a try.

TOP!!!i like very much this industrial- radioactive vibes which breath CCCP with solid beats and 'nuclear' sound ambience of the Foil.NICE NICE NICE
AUTECHRE rulez... i adore the cold edges in the sound
Absolutely beautiful and utterly inspiring

Thank you!
sehr gut. Danke
Fair enough. I applaud. This is not bad. Hertzfeld would be getting in touch.
This is a serious tune...I love it! Very fuckin dark.
Very good.
i think this song warrants more abstract primal mysterious imagery... the beginning, as zimant said, was excellent... it doesnt want any kind of perceivable narrative though, just images...
Great song
This is great with a side of robo
this goes too fucking hard
As much as I love Autechre's post LP5 outpt, Foil will always be among their top creations.
Psychedelic.
i hear yer !!!
This is what post- Brexit winter sounds like.
Adam Holdsworth It’s going to be really bad. A dystopian nightmare.

They were on some other shit and this is sadly missing from todays music.
if this was playing full volume in a venue i would dance, otherwise it gets plaid when i'm on adventures through urban waste lands and the wilderness.
this would go great in the Neuromancer movie adaptation
amen to that!
Kiev !!! Ukraine Represent !!! This video is like childhood memories.
Oh yes we will, it may just not be exactly like Autechre, which is normal. The world is full of great things, even in crisis times.
good job, I like
