    I haven’t been able to get my hands on the new FX 25cal slugs yet but have been shooting the Griffin 25, 30 & 35gr hollow base slugs in my Marauder & Skyhawk and they shoot great, especially the 35gr in my guns but both were tuned to shoot JSB king heavies which are close the same weight. I had tried a few other slugs over the years that were of the flat base design and none of them shot well at all unless 8in groups are acceptable. I have an assortment of 3 different weights of AVS (cup base) slugs on order just to see how they shoot in my guns, however the FX & AVS will have to shoot extremely well to be better than the Griffin 35gr hollow base 25cal slugs. I’m grouping the Griffin slugs 5/8in to 1in at 50yds and haven’t even tuned my guns for them just started shooting them in my Skyhawk and my Marauder. The Griffin hollow base slugs shoot just as good as the JSB kings in my two 25cal guns but should carry more velocity and killing power out at longer distances. I’m going to try them all at 100yds the next time the weather allows me to shoot again but it looks like the hollow base design slugs is the answer air gunners have been looking for whether there made by FX, Griffin or other makers. We’ll also see how the AVS cup base slugs perform as soon as I get them later on this week since they are made in between a flat base and a hollow base slug.

    Heavy pellets tend to fly thru birds and still able to punch a dent in for example doors made out of sheet of 1mm steel or aluminum - even if the doors were not directly in the line of fire behind the bird. So those light slugs are gonna be perfect around any farm buidings.

    Very informative video Justin. I shot some NSA .30 caliber 47.2 grain hollow Point Slug for the first time yesterday out of my Impact MK II 700mm barrel and the accuracy was great, and yes, they shot slower from the additional friction / drag compared to the pellets. I need to talk to your tech guys about increasing the power on my Impact. My regulators on 150 BAR as of right now. Power wheel is on Max. I am right now at 780 to 790 FPS. I know the slugs need to be pushed faster.

    As the industry is going the way of slugs , and as the FX slug liners are reported to shoot Pellets "well" would you agree that it would be prudent for FX to start fitting "slug Liners" as standard?.

      gerald Williams they hybrid will shoot well from the stx or the slug liner. The one common results of the lead in the barrel is yes they lose accuracy after 50 shots but if you are patient for a few more shots they actually start to gain more accuracy than the clean bore... this was discovered while testing several slugs.

    How'd you tune your airgun to shoot those slugs at a 930fps? I can only tune my crown at a maximum of 870fps and that's on a .22 18gr pellets. I wonder what I'm doing wrong with my tuning.

    • @UtahAirguns
      @UtahAirguns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ruel Rule start low with your reg and hammer spring settings and work your way up with small adjustments to the reg, check each hammer spring setting with each increase of the reg and repeat, you will find a sweet spot!

    • @RuelRule
      @RuelRule 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UtahAirguns you mean put the hammer spring at min and let's say around 100bar on the regulator? I observed that my crown only has a maximum of around 875fps @105bar. going higher on the reg decreases the fps.
      Anyway, I'll try tuning again using your method. Thank you for your help!

    What really pisses me off is, as popular as the .30 cal is they still keep pushing the .22 cal. I been wanting a .30 cal slug liner for a year now and cannot get one. Now if the Hybrid slugs are accurate in the pellet barrel then that would be fine, but I am tired of waiting. I am Seriously to the point that I wish I hadn't purchased an FX .30 and just went with the Daystate .30 or something that I could easily have a good slug barrel made for. The only reason that the .22 is so far ahead is that certain people in other countries cannot use anything but a .22 or lower, which cuts out all of us in the USA that have .30, don't get me wrong FX is one of the finest Airgun manufactures in the world, but if they can build a new AG from start to finish in a few months there is no reason why they cannot produce a slug liner for the .30 cal.

    • @UtahAirguns

      No caliber limit here (Canada) - The "dirty 30" has awesome power and is great for larger critters but for many people the .22 is more practical - plenty of power for pesting and small game at typical ranges, the pellets are far less expensive and they have a much greater shot count. The .30 caliber may be popular but I think there are way more .22 and .25 caliber users. Hope you get your liner soon!

      @@UtahAirguns I will put in an order tonight, I have done testing so many bullets for bullet makers over the years from .25 to .357 cal on standard stock barrels and never did get anything to shoot very accurate. I would love to finally get a barrel to properly shoot .30 cal slugs. I want to do some medium size game hunting (coyotes/ small deer) and I think the Impact .30 with the slugs out of the 700 mm barrel would be great use.

      @@hankvana2149 Thank you for the reply and I agree 100%, I do wish the .30 pellets were cheaper.
      The .22 and .25 are popular but I want a good medium bore shooting slugs for larger game. I have a dozen .22 to .357 AG's and I have just fallen in love with the FX Impact .30. It is my favorite over my Daystates and Crickets that's for sure.

      @@wmnapier I have a .22/700 Impact on order and am a bit apprehensive as I have never handled a bullpup; think I will be fine once I get used to it. Most of my AGs (AA; FWB; Weihrauch) are .177 and .22 which suit my pesting/plinking and target shooting needs. I have a .25 Royale for hunting and larger pests but if I need more power I will resort to a rimfire or centerfire powderburner - we have bears around the property. Still, a .30 AG sounds like a lot of fun, maye end up getting a barrel-kit for the Impact. Cheers! Hank

    • @trinitymaker5833

      You should buy some to just test how they shoot in your gun. If they outperform the NSA slugs, you may bite the bullet (no pun intended) and invest in them for future shooting trips. Mad Dubber just did a great video on these slugs. He went very deep into explaining the physics behind them. They are in between pellets and regular slugs. Watch the video. It's worth it.
