I grew up in Tulsa, which is adjacent to Osage County where all this happened. We studied Oklahoma History in high school for an entire year. I first learned about the murders this year.
Well the state/government has a vested interest in as little people knowing about this as possible. That goes for most of the history of Native Americans post European arrival. It makes the government look terrible 99% of the time .
I'm glad I watched this before going to see the movie. I don't care about the possible spoilers. I'm also aware that not everything in the movie will be accurate. I just find that it helps to have context.
I think for historical films I like to know the plot going in. It’s fun to see how it unfolds. I found myself a ton during Oppenheimer waiting for events and the payoff being a good time.
