From the moment Ishtar's scream was mentioned until the song ended, I forgot to breathe. This is sublime art, and hints at a now almost forgotten art of dramatic, musical storytelling that was how stories travelled through the centuries and milennia. Thank you for this astonishing piece, and keep up the priceless work!
Very beautiful thank you for this moving piece! For those who are wondering: it is actually Akkadian. The singer recites part of the Flood story from Tablet XI from the Gilgamesh epic, starting at line 97: mimmu sheri ina namari, ilumma ishtu ishid shameem urpatum salimtum, Adad ina libbisha irtammama etc.
I only recently read of the destruction of the Golden Lyre of Ur, it made me feel sick. So it's beautiful to see its reconstruction playing accompanying such a beautiful voice, the lyre lives on.
What an astonishing performance of a beautiful, terrifying and haunting epic. Stef's lyrical and emotional connection to these ancient words is a marvel to behold.
I happened across The Flood in comments on a Dead Can Dance vijeo. I am honestly surprised that I never heard of it before. Absolutely stunning vocals and amazing what skilled artists can accomplish with a lone instrument! Hopefully there is enough interest to continue.

The Lyre was the WMD! ;)
Speechless
Magnificent ❤
So beautiful, thank you for adding subtitles for the less Sumerian-savvy of us!
Тhank you very much for your tender voice coming from old times to nowadays.

An ancient soul returned. Welcome back.
