Why do people who can't handle these breeds buy them ? I'm looking at re homing a Belgian malinos . I wanted a pup but there are so many of this breed abandoned I feel I must have a rescue

She may have missed the initial socialization period but socialization is never over. but that’s to sounds and new environments. We got our corso at 4 months imported. I spent the first few months taking her everywhere with me introducing her to new places, ppl, sounds. She’s VERY well socialized. Almost looks for ppl to gloat and fawn over her. DONT ever stop socializing.

So good, Will. Thank you. I have known for three months that I am the problem -- mild-mannered, soft-spoken, 100 lb lady, with a 50 lb Belgian Shepherd puppy. Pup is now 11 months old. I have tried being the 'tough boss', but tend to slip back into my genial, easy-going manner. This video is a reminder to me to work harder at being 'hard-nosed' leader; to practice every day, on every walk. Still, this puppy is very intelligent, very clever, and I'm sure she has me figured out. She knows who I really am. The two of us are so great together when we are rambling through wild woodlands and wild moorland. We can be ourselves. But, I know it's true that we must be different when we are in civilization -- on guard and alert, as it were.
They don’t listen to tough they only listen to calm confidence. You’ll notice people who are high energy, insecure, nervous, distrustful tend to have high energy bad behaved, reactive dogs because the dog is mirroring the human. If you want to achieve a proper relationship with your dog you have to do the inner work first. Become calm confident love.
I love these videos, another fantastic result. I've got a 9 year old Carolina dog who was very reactive to other dogs and people just like this Cane Corso. Using Wills techniques and realising it's all my own doing, my dog is now a completely different girl (after just over a week at this point) who is a joy to walk, we can meet other dog owners and stand around chatting while she just sits there happily looking up to me. She's also more loving around the home which is a nice byproduct. Her new behaviour is fantastic and I thank Will and his team very very much for making these videos, and making possible something that I never thought I would see.
My little 5 month corso is showing some behavior similar, no aggression, but fear barking and backing up when confronted with something/someone that makes her nervous. I stay calm and hopefully she grows out of this. But I'm not sure how firm to be with a 5 month old
Glad to hear this can be done with older dogs. I have a 7 year old pitbull who is amazing except with other dogs. She used to be great and then she got sick and couldn’t socialize for a few months and is extremely reactive to other dogs ever since. She’s wonderful with people and children and is sweet as can be it’s just other dogs, will definitely try these techniques to get her back to sweet overall. She’s not aggressive in the sense of wanting to fight, she’s just overly excited and it gets to the other dogs and that turns it into a fight usually. Hopefully me and the wife can start enjoying walks with her soon again.
Dude sweet dog. American dingos are cool AF. My mom had an aussie dingo mix that was mostly just dingo, only dog things he took were fur related and his shorter legs as far as I could tell. Coolest little personality.
Tough love. Much more of this is needed between owners and their dogs. My Corso is the most amazing dog. Got her at 4mths old with no socialization, previous owner was shameful. So much work, but SO rewarding. Calm confidence is key.

She loves to lunge at dogs which comes across as nasty when she's a mix of dominance and play, but I'm working on that. Used to bite her lead at first but rarely barks. I can potentially help you if need!

Thanks man just adopted a 2 year old male Corso a week ago very fearful & timid when I first met him. My aunt has a male rot & was very aggressive towards him while he was still very scared & calm forcing him to be aggressive back & I believe since then he’s been stuck in that. Now he’s pretty antsy when others dogs are around & when people are walking by he starts to move around a lot, growl a little & try to go towards them. The other night we were on our usual walk & I believe he didn’t want to go this way we usually go. He began rubbing his snout on me which I noticed then kept trying to walk he stopped then started jumping on me then started gnawing on my arm a bit harder each time I kept pushing him off telling him no then once I started to walk in the direction back towards home he stopped. Grew up with mainly pit bulls having them in the backyard but this is my first Corso & started walking out in public hopefully your video’s & some others will help until I get him into a program.
You are the best Will ! You explanation is great. You break it down for novice dog owners like myself. I have a medium sized rescue. After I got it home, second day I had him, he was aggressive towards people. It is through your videos I've learned the dog's mindset, and behavior's CAN be changed. I've just started training for loose leash and am confident in how to do it because of your videos. I've also been focusing on entering doorways first, and "planting the flag". Great training tips ! Love this so much! People are the problem, I'd love to see more about how to project that confidence and leadership to the dogs. I feel like I'm doing well but he does get reactive although we're just starting getting out on walks and working on loose lead walking, not formal heel yet.
Running into this same issue right now with my corso. He is 8months old he was socialized as a pup but has recently started reacting to other dogs and people. I tend to get nervous when we meet new people as he is so reactive and strong. (I know I am the problem.) Im just not sure how to snap out if that mind set to be able to properly guide him. First time Corso owner. I've really learned alot about controlling this beautiful dog. At three months old he acts like a gentleman. He will always be on guard but now its controllable. Thank you sir.
I’m happy I came across this video because I now realize proper fitting of a prong collar, proper stance and what I need to change in my actions so my cane Corso knows what I expect. It's funny watching Cesar Milan for years when at a families home treating their dogs problems, the smart people would say "Cesar hasn't come here to train our dog I think he's come here to train us"! Spot on advice but such people can't do it on their own.
Every time I go for a walk with my Corso alone I get tense in areas I know there will be other dogs. I know it’s my fault. I hear you in the back of my mind saying take charge, have a lose arm, and shoulders back. We work every day together to become carefree and happy together on walks
Our Xolo is REALLY excited and reactive which makes me struggle to walk him or make him focus on me and obey me when there are distractions. I tried every dog training channel on youtube and sure treats and toys work, but most trainers dont show punishment / corrections that are stiff enough for Xolito. You fixed everything, I feel like I know now how to correct, at what intensity, and when. THANK YOU I can now walk him without my elbow being pulled out of socket lmao also nice Mjollnir and perfect attitude, I suppose you are into what I am into. Love it

Sorry in advance but im gonna steal your line "if you're the problem the nice thing is you're also the solution". I always find it hard to explain to people that theyre not bad dog owners for making mistakes, especially since most mistakes come from a place of love w a lack of knowledge. And more importantly that we need to just forget the past and move forward
Leash work skills and commands like Here and sit are important with reactivity..a owner who knows how to walk with their dog will have the confidence, time to observe and scan their environment in order to take action before the reactivity shows itself !!
FionaClaire was a stray that landed on my lap unexpectedly. I was challenged everyday by her wanting to lead me. She is pure muscle. I am not afraid of her. I stick my full hand in her mouth to yank out pinecones, palm frawns and ground garbage all the time. I did have to resort to a training collar that I pretty much only beep and vibrate. This was due to her busting out of a leash and being able to chase cars at 35 miles an hour. She is a gorgeous runner regardless of me being petrified watching her chase cars on a busy street. Her static level is the lowest 1 out of a 100. I used it on myself to make sure it wasn't painful. I might have to use shock once every two weeks if that to remind her that my voice is the leader. I take this collar choice very seriously, it was hard for me. The beep and vibrate are an extra long hand that reminds her that I am here, I got this. She now checks with me instead of nearly yanking my arm out of the socket when cars pass. She now listens 99% of the time when I tell her to heal or stop. She has always been social with people and other dogs that I usually have to gauge the other human and their dog's body language. Very slowly she is becoming a chill dog. You can find many beep, vibrate, sonic, and static options. Never ever use static on aggression. I use it on her car chasing obsession. FionaClaire actually huffs at me now as if to express 'fine' with voice commands.
Hey Will, with the chnage of direction technique I find my German pointer ,Greyhound cross puppy gets frustrated and starts to bite at the leash and starts to chew it and try to pull it away. Any suggestions on why this is the case or how to manage it?
Try rewarding more! If you command: "Pointer come" and make the turn. -If you didnt need to pull, praise and reward! Make sure he/she knows how to heel walk in the first place before you try these techniques. Also only use these slipleashes/collars if you know how to propperly use them, its not recoomended to use them on puppies if you aren't trained well using it. Make it exciting for your dog to listen to you, start teaching heel walking without the leash first and bring it outdoors afterwards.
I have a 1 year old Aussie who has 6 different incidents of attacking other animals out of fear. I know it's my fault and I'm doing what I can to work with her. I get upset when she's labeled as a bad dog because it's not her fault, it's on me.
Too many people acquiring dogs that they have no idea how to train...with incidences of dog attacks on the rise people really need to do their research before they choose a breed....shame about the cropped ears, barbaric in my opinion!....well done Will, you know your breeds....🐕

And is worse behind a fence or barrier. Including a crate. She is coming along great now. I've had her since December. I have a Pomeranian and will not use a pronged collar. My Pom has been attacked by a large dog as a puppy on a walk and now has developed a large fear towards dogs. She will chase after and bark hysterically at them. She’s close to 7 months old. Any advice for training in this sort of way - without using collars?

In 95% of problem situations it’s the human that’s the issue. He’s 199% correct. I know that in the issues I currently have with one of my dogs it was me that was the issue. We’re now all doing great. So please people, do not be offended by constructive criticism. Take it. Learn. And change. Your pup will love you for it!

I got a 2 1/2 years old Cane Corso her problem. I got her when she was about a year, so her training is kinda late. She don’t like loud noises and passing trucks or cars. She tries to attack them.. She don’t know that’s dangerous.. I think it started by lawnmowers and other loud motors when she was younger.. how do I stop this?
How can I make my dog not be aggressive with dogs or friends/ family but still guard me against strangers? Right now it’s more fearful reaction and I don’t want that but I also don’t want her to be nice to everybody. Anyone have resources? She’s a Border collie/ Lab mix
I do wish breeders/importers would stop cropping and docking! I get docking in working gun and such dogs due to injury but why mutate their ears? My 5 month old puppy has beautiful floopy ears and it is part of her character. Beautiful corso in video and I'm looking forward to seeing my pup, Ouija, when she's fully grown
Our nacho is as big as her if not a bit bigger , he is a cross between a dog de bordeaux and a scotts American Bulldog and he is an excellent guard and family pet he went through a stage of being a bit growly with other dogs but more we socialised him with the right dogs he is turning out fine . Your videos are helping me out though so thanks . 👍

Cane Corso are not for everyone. Just lost my 11yo girl (90kg) and she was the sweetest best dog ever even if she was crossed with Presso canario to create a fight dog ( story short she was seized by the police at 7mo) adopted her at 9mo. But Cane Corso are trend dog, fashion dog and here it is. 10 years ago no one ever heard of Cane Corso now they are everywhere (just my office when I left I had 5 colleagues who adopted one,... including one brought from Moscow by private jet... cough cough mr ceo). This said, this dog is not for her.

I have a very big cane corso that goes 63kg, we need some advice as she was 8 months old when we got her she is now 5 years old, was never socialise as a puppy and the owners was keeping her with a male but they started to flight well we was told it was dad and the male pup so she need rehoming as he wanted us to have her, she is so good with us but I can't walk her because she is to big for me, we have a problem with her she doesn't give any warming she just attacks, she had a go at our 6 year grandson so they don't come and vist any more, she pinned a small dog when out because we think it spooked like because it came out from some brushes, she has attack my daughter dog, and again attack it last weekend she doesn't give any warming signs she just attack we don't let her of lead any more because she just jumps and pulls when we see other dogs, its not nice walking her I don't know what the best thing to do, as the next time she might really hurt someone, People say once a dog attack it will always attack, and with no socialising we do try but sometimes she just wanted to do at them. help won't the best thing to do .
I've had my cane corso for over 10 years I wish folks would resesrch what these dogs need in a responsible owner Their a dominant breed so you have to lead these dogs & be the alpha If not yr going to get into trouble & as such give the breed a bad name Breeders have to take responsibility also by placing pups in the right environment & owners But sadly most breeders are in it for the money not the betterment of the breed

Hello Will. My girl goes for my cats when they are feeding on the side. This is after she has been fed. We have been acting on and following your guidance. She cuddles up with the cats and plays with them at all other times good is the trigger.. I can pick up her bowl, take her food away..etc I’ve had major improvements following your guidance and regaining our connection. Aisla is so intelligent and not what I expected at all from an old thyme bulldog. I’ve worked with a variety of mastiffs for 23 years but I’m not sure how to resolve this issue.

Hi Will, just picked up my Cane Corso from 4 wks of board and train, trainer said I need a behaviorist, thats she's not a usual Cane Corso, meaning she's unpredictable..do you know anyone I can contact here on Oahu, Hawai'i?? Trainer said it will get worse and I may have to put her down...she just turned one years old.
Wrong dog breed for the owners ability maybe? In reality, many people buy the wrong breed and usually a working dog breed, wanting it to just be a pet. Working breeds are highly intelligent and need a certain level of ability to keep them balanced. That said, it's usually owners that need training, as demonstrated here, to get the best out of the breed.
You need to work on who is in charge. He needs to work for everything he gets. Nothing in his life is free. No free petting. No free food. He works for it all. He needs tons of structure. You set the rules. He cannot exit or enter the door without your full consent. He cannot come out of his crate without your approval. He cannot go down stairs without you allowing it. And limit his interaction with the other dogs until he has his attitude adjusted.

I have a rescue malinois from a working line. Unless you can devote every hour of the day to the dog, don't do it.

I got a tied up, beaten unsocialised 14 month old cane corso X bullmastiff, its hard work but pays off

I've just started training for loose leash and am confident in how to do it because of your videos. I've also been focusing on entering doorways first, and "planting the flag". Great training tips !

Love this so much! People are the problem, I'd love to see more about how to project that confidence and leadership to the dogs. I feel like I'm doing well but he does get reactive although we're just starting getting out on walks and working on loose lead walking, not formal heel yet.
Running into this same issue right now with my corso. He is 8months old he was socialized as a pup but has recently started reacting to other dogs and people. I tend to get nervous when we meet new people as he is so reactive and strong. (I know I am the problem.) Im just not sure how to snap out if that mind set to be able to properly guide him. Thank you for this video I’m going to try this in hopes I can get my boy back on the right path.

First time Corso owner. I've really learned alot about controlling this beautiful dog. At three months old he acts like a gentleman. He will always be on guard but now its controllable. Thank you sir.

I’m happy I came across this video because I now realize proper fitting of a prong collar, proper stance and what I need to change in my actions so my cane Corso knows what I expect. Love cane Corso more now that I own one after years of wanting one. They’re unbelievably great breeds if trained right, as is any breed. Thank you for posting such great videos.
It's funny watching Cesar Milan for years when at a families home treating their dogs problems, the smart people would say "Cesar hasn't come here to train our dog I think he's come here to train us"! Spot on advice but such people can't do it on their own.

Every time I go for a walk with my Corso alone I get tense in areas I know there will be other dogs. I know it’s my fault. I hear you in the back of my mind saying take charge, have a lose arm, and shoulders back. We work every day together to become carefree and happy together on walks

Our Xolo is REALLY excited and reactive which makes me struggle to walk him or make him focus on me and obey me when there are distractions. I tried every dog training channel on youtube and sure treats and toys work, but most trainers dont show punishment / corrections that are stiff enough for Xolito. You fixed everything, I feel like I know now how to correct, at what intensity, and when. THANK YOU I can now walk him without my elbow being pulled out of socket lmao

Great vid. I recently adopted a highly intelligent but highly reactive dog. Although progress has been good and he is calming down, it only works when I’m projecting high confidence. Looking forward to turning it up to 11 in tomorrow’s session with my good boi. Love the channel.

Sorry in advance but im gonna steal your line "if you're the problem the nice thing is you're also the solution". I always find it hard to explain to people that theyre not bad dog owners for making mistakes, especially since most mistakes come from a place of love w a lack of knowledge. And more importantly that we need to just forget the past and move forward
Leash work skills and commands like Here and sit are important with reactivity..a owner who knows how to walk with their dog will have the confidence, time to observe and scan their environment in order to take action before the reactivity shows itself !!
FionaClaire was a stray that landed on my lap unexpectedly. I was challenged everyday by her wanting to lead me. She is pure muscle. I am not afraid of her. I stick my full hand in her mouth to yank out pinecones, palm frawns and ground garbage all the time. I did have to resort to a training collar that I pretty much only beep and vibrate. This was due to her busting out of a leash and being able to chase cars at 35 miles an hour. She is a gorgeous runner regardless of me being petrified watching her chase cars on a busy street. Her static level is the lowest 1 out of a 100. I used it on myself to make sure it wasn't painful. I might have to use shock once every two weeks if that to remind her that my voice is the leader. I take this collar choice very seriously, it was hard for me. The beep and vibrate are an extra long hand that reminds her that I am here, I got this. She now checks with me instead of nearly yanking my arm out of the socket when cars pass. She now listens 99% of the time when I tell her to heal or stop. She has always been social with people and other dogs that I usually have to gauge the other human and their dog's body language. Very slowly she is becoming a chill dog. You can find many beep, vibrate, sonic, and static options. Never ever use static on aggression. I use it on her car chasing obsession. FionaClaire actually huffs at me now as if to express 'fine' with voice commands.

Hey Will, with the chnage of direction technique I find my German pointer ,Greyhound cross puppy gets frustrated and starts to bite at the leash and starts to chew it and try to pull it away. Any suggestions on why this is the case or how to manage it?
Try rewarding more! If you command: "Pointer come" and make the turn. -If you didnt need to pull, praise and reward! Make sure he/she knows how to heel walk in the first place before you try these techniques. Also only use these slipleashes/collars if you know how to propperly use them, its not recoomended to use them on puppies if you aren't trained well using it. Make it exciting for your dog to listen to you, start teaching heel walking without the leash first and bring it outdoors afterwards.
I have a 1 year old Aussie who has 6 different incidents of attacking other animals out of fear. I know it's my fault and I'm doing what I can to work with her. I get upset when she's labeled as a bad dog because it's not her fault, it's on me.
Too many people acquiring dogs that they have no idea how to train...with incidences of dog attacks on the rise people really need to do their research before they choose a breed....shame about the cropped ears, barbaric in my opinion!....well done Will, you know your breeds....🐕

Love this video. I have a 14 month old Cane Corso (the sister to my male) that was sent to me from Ohio because they couldn't handle her. It was that or probably a rescue. She has the same problem. And is worse behind a fence or barrier. Including a crate. She is coming along great now. I've had her since December. I'm one of your students in your academy and looking forward to having her be a full rounded canine.
I have a Pomeranian and will not use a pronged collar. My Pom has been attacked by a large dog as a puppy on a walk and now has developed a large fear towards dogs. She will chase after and bark hysterically at them. She’s close to 7 months old. Any advice for training in this sort of way - without using collars?
I have a question, how would you deal with a boxer dog obsessed with eating bees? Every time I approach the issue seems to get worse. And my dog is getting stung in dangerous places more and more often.

In 95% of problem situations it’s the human that’s the issue. He’s 199% correct. I know that in the issues I currently have with one of my dogs it was me that was the issue. We’re now all doing great. So please people, do not be offended by constructive criticism. Take it. Learn. And change. Your pup will love you for it!

I got a 2 1/2 years old Cane Corso her problem. I got her when she was about a year, so her training is kinda late. She don’t like loud noises and passing trucks or cars. She tries to attack them.. She don’t know that’s dangerous.. I think it started by lawnmowers and other loud motors when she was younger.. how do I stop this?
How can I make my dog not be aggressive with dogs or friends/ family but still guard me against strangers? Right now it’s more fearful reaction and I don’t want that but I also don’t want her to be nice to everybody. Anyone have resources? She’s a Border collie/ Lab mix
I do wish breeders/importers would stop cropping and docking! I get docking in working gun and such dogs due to injury but why mutate their ears? My 5 month old puppy has beautiful floopy ears and it is part of her character. Beautiful corso in video and I'm looking forward to seeing my pup, Ouija, when she's fully grown
Our nacho is as big as her if not a bit bigger , he is a cross between a dog de bordeaux and a scotts American Bulldog and he is an excellent guard and family pet he went through a stage of being a bit growly with other dogs but more we socialised him with the right dogs he is turning out fine . Your videos are helping me out though so thanks .

Cane Corso are not for everyone. Just lost my 11yo girl (90kg) and she was the sweetest best dog ever even if she was crossed with Presso canario to create a fight dog ( story short she was seized by the police at 7mo) adopted her at 9mo. But Cane Corso are trend dog, fashion dog and here it is. 10 years ago no one ever heard of Cane Corso now they are everywhere (just my office when I left I had 5 colleagues who adopted one,... including one brought from Moscow by private jet... cough cough mr ceo). This said, this dog is not for her.

I have a very big cane corso that goes 63kg, we need some advice as she was 8 months old when we got her she is now 5 years old, was never socialise as a puppy and the owners was keeping her with a male but they started to flight well we was told it was dad and the male pup so she need rehoming as he wanted us to have her, she is so good with us but I can't walk her because she is to big for me, we have a problem with her she doesn't give any warming she just attacks, she had a go at our 6 year grandson so they don't come and vist any more, she pinned a small dog when out because we think it spooked like because it came out from some brushes, she has attack my daughter dog, and again attack it last weekend she doesn't give any warming signs she just attack we don't let her of lead any more because she just jumps and pulls when we see other dogs, its not nice walking her I don't know what the best thing to do, as the next time she might really hurt someone, People say once a dog attack it will always attack, and with no socialising we do try but sometimes she just wanted to do at them. help won't the best thing to do .

Their a dominant breed so you have to lead these dogs & be the alpha
If not yr going to get into trouble & as such give the breed a bad name
Breeders have to take responsibility also by placing pups in the right environment & owners
But sadly most breeders are in it for the money not the betterment of the breed
I know Corso faces - as soon as I saw this dog's intense crazy eyes you can see the magnitude of her fear (even though she looks and probably would be dangerous)

Hello Will. My girl goes for my cats when they are feeding on the side. This is after she has been fed. We have been acting on and following your guidance.

I’ve had major improvements following your guidance and regaining our connection. Aisla is so intelligent and not what I expected at all from an old thyme bulldog. I’ve worked with a variety of mastiffs for 23 years but I’m not sure how to resolve this issue.

Hi Will, just picked up my Cane Corso from 4 wks of board and train, trainer said I need a behaviorist, thats she's not a usual Cane Corso, meaning she's unpredictable..do you know anyone I can contact here on Oahu, Hawai'i?? Trainer said it will get worse and I may have to put her down...she just turned one years old.
shes not aggressive shes anxious and fearful. prong collars are not needed
Wrong dog breed for the owners ability maybe? In reality, many people buy the wrong breed and usually a working dog breed, wanting it to just be a pet. Working breeds are highly intelligent and need a certain level of ability to keep them balanced. That said, it's usually owners that need training, as demonstrated here, to get the best out of the breed.

Have a Corso that is fearful and protective. Some serious corrections really helped.... but he will still attack the other dogs in our home.
You need to work on who is in charge. He needs to work for everything he gets. Nothing in his life is free. No free petting. No free food. He works for it all.
He needs tons of structure. You set the rules. He cannot exit or enter the door without your full consent. He cannot come out of his crate without your approval. He cannot go down stairs without you allowing it.
And limit his interaction with the other dogs until he has his attitude adjusted.
That’s good stuff but that’s not enough, you have to make the dog have positive reinforcement with people do desensitize the human reactivity.

So this is what they mean by firm hand/handler..i never understood..theres also a great vid on american standard training on a great dane just walking all over her owner..i believe she even injured her owner by dragging her..once uncle garret put her on a prong it all changed and poor lady even starts crying on video..but she followed through and apparently she now has lovely walks as she comented on the vid..will i wanna thank you..i believe you and ol garret(american standard training) are the best out there
