and I wish they had gone MORE into getting this team of rivals to becoming REAL allies. No instead the fans seemed to want to see action-I think this show illustrated the Federation absconded with photo torpedos from the Klingons. Yes it IS more exciting seeing explosions but I would have preferred battles of the mind the heart. Too boring I know

While I think Backula did a good job of acting. The character was hilariously stupid. Daniels "I am a time cop here to save you and my timeline". Archer "FU Daniels get out of my timeline!!!" It was just so bizarre and idiotic I cant think of another starfleet captain that would react that way.

@@theyux1 To be fair he had no 'directives' for these matters, and every time he thought he was done with Daniels, Daniels would drag him into another life threatening event.
Not to mention Daniels screwed up a couple times and only made things worse, leaving Archer to fix it.
Archer was not qualified for Temporal matters, nor was he prepared to do them. He was just yanked into them constantly.
Anyone would get fed up having the weight of the the future put on shoulders that have next to no clue what is going on.

    2) I can't help but notice the way Archer seems to doubt (respectfully) a second before turning to Malcolm (which is almost to understand at the way Malcolm seems to actually move back from his glance, out of his reservery)
    3) Disturbingly, we see through Archer's eyes everyone nodding, still shaken up, except for Travis, who is too occupied by the screen to nod, and two man in the background.

Didn't really care for the themesong either.(trivial I know but still) I really liked the uniforms at first but over time I thought there was too much blue in it and didn't contrast right. The show had such a good premise. The start of Starfleet before the federation. But the ships and everything else is so starkly different from TOS it's hard to even imagine the technology progressing to what they did in TOS (granted TOS is much much later in the future). In short It just kept missing the mark. Also Backula was the best part of the show.

It contained nothing I wanted. I wanted to see what came next, it decided to invent what came before. I was invested in the galaxy of TNG/DS9/Voyager. I was less invested in humans as space-yokels. I'm sure if I stuck with it, I'd have found some good episodes, maybe some great ones. I just... wasn't interested.
And the opening didn't help. And no, I don't think that's a petty complaint. The song reminds me of a low-effort post-9/11 country tribute song. The visuals are sappy, trying to be somehow inspiring, trying to draw a connection between now and the optimistic future-vibe of Star Trek, but ultimately serving only to remind me that First Contact was a good movie, and perhaps make me yearn for expansion on events and time periods previously established in Trek canon.
*shrug* if Enterprise was your jam, I'm not here to make you feel bad. I mean it. It just emphatically wasn't mine, and I lost interest quickly.

Starfleet wasn't realized until way later I think. They barely developed warp drives, weapons and didn't even have shields. This was at a time when Earth was so prude in their interstellar development they couldn't rage a war with aliens.
By the way, the series indicated if Enterprise failed or Earth never confronted them it ended up being warfare inside a treacherous engulfing galactic-wide nebula and singularities. So every faction in many centuries of war were annihilated anyway, you just wouldn't get the same timelines as all the other series.

    • @davidcovey3001
      @davidcovey3001 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@coeusdarksoul2855 Not at all.. The issue with the "New Trek" (Discovery, Picard), is that it goes against everything that made Star Trek, Star Trek.
Gene Roddenberry himself intended Star Trek to be a Utopian future where the Crew never fought against themselves, unless they were overcome with some outside alien or biological influence.
He wanted to show what humanity *could* be if we all worked together for a single goal. If we put aside petty differences like skin color, or religion and worked together like one people.. this is what we *could* do.
Now, contrast that with Discovery. It's a Dystopian future where everything is always messed up. Where there is constant in-fighting, and human's are using disgusting 21st century language.
It's been 3 seasons of that terrible show Discovery and I STILL can't name a single member of the Bridge crew outside Mikey and Saru.
Enterprise didn't destroy what came before it, or put down what once was to build itself up. Discovery does that all the time, which is why it's a terrible series.
Discovery destroys everything that made Trek Great. TNG for example had many episodes that would evaluate a moral issue. Even if you disagreed with the issue, the show tried to give you a perspective, but didn't beat you over the head with it. (Discovery does). TNG Episode "Outcast" is a perfect example of this. It evaluates, but doesn't "Preach".
Discovery preaches, and cusses, and shows a horribly dystopian future where humans still don't work together.. It's not a future I want to see..
EDIT: To be clear, I didn't watch Enterprise when it was new.. I didn't give it a chance. I didn't like the idea of a "prequel". I didn't like the idea of an unknown ship called Enterprise being injected into the Trek Universe. (And truth be told, I still don't. The ship should have been called something else)
After watching the Enterprise a few years ago, I realized especially in the second season Enterprise isn't a bad show.. sure the ship shouldn't have been called Enterprise, but that's the worst thing I can say about it after watching it.
Discovery is just... really, really bad and not Star Trek according to the creator of the show, and what came before it.

I’m like what the heck, someone really screwed up at the effects house. Steamrunner class ships won’t exist in Star Trek canon until the 2370s/DS9 era, first introduced in Star Trek first contract during the battle of sector 001 and later played a pivotal role in final months of the dominion war. This scene takes place in 2154 a full 215 years prior to the start of DS9 witch takes place from 2369 to 2375 I like music towards the the end with all those ship welcoming the enterprise NX-01 home it gives the sense of hope and triumph over adversity

I love most of this series. I am still livid they kill off a character, last second, in a friggin fake out dream sequence but still actually dies canonically.

Interesting that the approaching vessels include an equivalent of DS9. See 2:18. How does that work? Traveling station?
