    In this episode I compare the Ikea Tibast curtain to the much more popular Ikea Rita curtain. I like the Tibast better. #readiysteadiy ‪@IKEAUSA‬
    CHANNEL STATEMENT: This is a channel about my relationship with stuff. We all need to have a better relationship with the stuff in our lives - we have too much of it, and most of it’s junk. If nothing else I hope you take away with you an interest in the stuff in your life - a curiosity for how it’s made - why it’s good or bad - and perhaps even how build new stuff or fix what you’ve got. I’m so glad you prefer the Tibast because I just purchased them yesterday after agonizing over which one to get! Although, I really like the Ritva curtains, I chose the Tibast for the exact same reasons you detail here. I just think they just have a more luxurious look and feel while still not being overly formal.

    Spent an hour yesterday in IKEA to choose curtains for our holiday lodge. Looked at the Ritva's, didn't like them at all. I have linnen curtains at home and to me the Ritva's felt thin and cheap. Didn't like the way they hung from the rail and hated the woven fake linnen pattern. I also looked at the Annakajsa. Beautiful material, but the ones in the showroom looked tattered which tells me they will not hold up well in the long run. Came home with a bunch of white Tibasts for the living room and bedrooms. In addition I bought the Majgull in a gorgeous mustard yellow colour for the hall way. The label says they keep the draft out but I suspect I will have to line them for extra substance and insulation. Anyway, long winded way to say thanks for confirming I made the right choice 😅

    Ok hear me out...ritva pattern turned me off too. At 1st it just looked like a plain sheet I hugh up and I have like 10 better flat sheets in the closet lol. So I was totally confused as to why all the DIY ppl I follow like them. Then I decided well maybe if I pleat the top of the curtain instead of just looping them thru the pole or hanging them on hooks. I have done the pinch pleat on them and they look amazing. They elevated the look and I hugh them close to the ceiling. They look expensive and clean.

    That texture "pattern" in the Ritva is not "sewn in," but is woven in. Same as the texture in the Tibast. This is a pretty thorough review of these products.
    (I would've liked to have heard the costs of the two drapery styles discussed.)

    Wow I wish I could go with the Tibast for all of the points you said, but unfortunately I need my curtains to be longer as I'm hanging them in a track from the ceiling in front of a patio door. I have panels on the second track behind the curtain so hopefully that gives me enough security from onlookers at night lol. Your review was awesome. Especially about washing the curtains first. I must say with the pinch pleat and hanging from the ceiling the Ritva does look very elegant and nice, but I havent had the Tibast to compare. Thanks for the review!

    • @readiysteadiy
      @readiysteadiy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      JYSK is a store here in Canada - sort of like Bed Bath and Beyond…. Only went there because Ikea was out of hooks. If your ikea has hooks probably easier to grab them there when you grab your curtains….

    Ikea used to have 100% linen curtains about 10 yrs ago. Called “Aina”. I have grey ones in my bedroom and i bought an extra panel and recovered my fabric headboard. I put a blackout panel on a separate rod behind them, but i loved the way light filters thru the linen in the daytime. Lr needs much lighter white color so i may try the ritva. Thanks for the review!

    • @readiysteadiy
      @readiysteadiy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. Thanks for the question. The rings in the video were nickel plated and came from JYSK though only because Ikea was out. Normally they have rings in stock at Ikea to buy with their curtains. Hopefully you won’t have the same global supply chain woes I did.

    Is the room still light at Tibast?

    • @readiysteadiy

    WARNING!!
    If you use the ceiling track and you buy 98in (and wash them they will shrink almost 4in ) they will no longer puddle nor touch the floor !!
    It will hover 1in off the ground and to me that looked stupid. Learnt the hard way.
    So I guess don’t wash them or buy 118.
    I purchased Tibast and will avoid washing as long as possible
