    Like your setup but during winter you may want to change the tile out for a piece of wood the tile will get cold faster. But love your setup keep up the good work I need to work on my chicken pin lol

    John -- you and Mary never cease to amaze me with your ingenuity! Gawd -- those are WAAAY better than any commercial rabbit cages I've seen. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Those look like they would be pretty heavy-duty predator proof too. Just put some sticks in the cages for the rabbits to chew on and they *should* leave the mesh alone. Maybe.

      ***** Did some quick calculating. If I had to buy new you are into about $60 per hole. Sounds bad. But wait. TSC is asking for $50 a hole and their materials are flimsier gauge. If I go DIY with regular rabbit wire, I am into $40 for the wire alone. I still have to come up with a support system.
      So lets see. self supporting just screwer to the wall. heavier gauge materials so the life will be longer. Easy construction it appears. All in all if I was going to build a rabbitery from scratch this is the way I would do it. Again impressive.

      BeaverRick the poo falls threw the wire so there is very little cleaning that needs done,sawdust would just fall threw the bars,we will be putting in some hay and nestboxes this winter so they can stay cozy

    I like your cages much nicer than any I have ever built or owned in the past. I used to raise a new zealand/california mix. I put chunks of wood in the cages to give them something to chew on also mounted the salt blocks on wood. I noticed you dont have salt blocks in your cages, do they get salt in their feed?

    I wonder if shelves from an old fridge would work too? Great pens for the rabbits and chicks, but do you think they would work for like ducklings?

  • @Brainchild69
    @Brainchild69 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have tried the board-for-their-feet approach a few times. I do feel sorry for them regarding their feet on that wire all the time, but it's been my experience, 100% of times, that they will sit on that board when they pee and poop and sit in the pee and poo all the time and get urine burns and infections. Rabbits don't seem really bright. It looks like you have a good set-up though.

    I watched your other video first then this one. I was wondering how you were going to hang the grow out cage in the barn, until I saw this video. I have been looking into replacing 8 of my home made cages, this design will give the rabbits a little more room, and after pricing the wire shelving materials I will spend less than I would on all wire cages at the feed store. and these will last a lot longer. thank you for shearing these videos
