      Hi Tosin, Congratulations on your admission 🙂. For renting an accommodation, most landlords are looking to see that the tenant is employed and can afford to pay the rent. Typically, you can go to www.zoopla.co.uk or rightmove.co.uk and search for house or flat to rent in Edinburgh and perhaps Livingston as well, and then submit an application for the houses/flats you are interested in. The landlord will then choose the tenant they want from a number of applicants. But since you will be renting as a student and currently out side the country, I will suggest going directly to estate agents. I can recommend the one we have rented with which is Knightbain. You can check out their website (www.knightbain.co.uk/) and possibly send them a message detailing that you are an international student looking to rent. They however cover mostly Westlothian but since you are coming in with children, I will suggest looking for a place in Livingston or Bathgate. Both are Towns in Westlothian just outside of Edinburgh but very good for family and very much accessible to Edinburgh. Do let me know how it goes and you can send me an email on menvicmusicstudio@gmail.com

      It's still broadly applicable but you will have to make some adjustments and cuts to make the overall money still accommodate the expenses. The figures in the video gives some wiggle room. We haven't really increased our family budget but we made some cuts to make the budget still work.

    • @menvicstudio
      @menvicstudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Odegua,
      Congratulations on your admission :). Since you are coming in with a family, I think there are quite a number of things you might be looking to consider. To give you a wide option of places to look, I will suggest you input the postcode of GCU in an online letting platform like rightmove (rightmove.co.uk), then select a radius of about 10 to 15 miles so that the areas that come up are still accessible to Uni. When a number of options show up, depending on your price range, pick the accommodations you are interest in and look up their postcode on (simd.scot). On the Scottish index of multiple deprivation site, you will be able to see all the important information about an area ranging from crime rate to heath care and education.

    Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you’re investing into can’t make good use of that capital. The way I see it if you have a $1 million at some point, that’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 50k-70k in dividend income...

      @bahijarhafiri 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not difficult, but you have to learn and handle. Another thing is that if you can't manage your home, maybe you shouldn't invest on your own. If so, you should hire a CFP to help you diversify your assets to include ETFs/index funds/mutual funds and stocks of companies with consistent cash flows, rather than betting on penny stocks.

      Hi Ruthybeauty, all I can say is to perhaps check out the ranking of the universities you are considering (general global/UK ranking as well as employability and student wellbeing rankings). Then check the ranking for the specific course you want to study across multiple universities and compare the course contents of the universities and maybe even research who the course convenors/ lecturers are. I would also try to find people studying at the universities to hear first hand experiences. Some universities have virtual tours available so you may want to look at that to see what the universities facilities look like. Finally, if you are wanting to stay in the country after studies, also research how likely you are to get a job in the field.

    Good day Ma, pls, how is the job market like in Scotland? Can one with a dependent visa get jobs with good pay to help cater for the family? What jobs can a student easily get there on graduation? Also, are children of international students entitled to free primary and secondary education? Thank you ma

    • @menvicstudio
      @menvicstudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Hope Ukaonu, all children are entitled to free primary and secondary education. The schools are good and well equipped. A spouse dependant can work full time. With a full time job, one will get a reasonable income at the end of the month even if the pay is minimum wage. With the dependant working full time and the student working the allowed amount of hours, you will be able to provide for you and the family. There are jobs if one is not picky. If you are able to, do watch my video "job hunting in Scotland". It will throw more light on the sort of jobs available and how you can plan towards getting one, depending on your situation. With regards to the job you can get after graduation, I will suggest you take a look at the "UK shortage occupation list" (just type this in google and click on the government link to read through) and choose your course accordingly if possible. This will provide the best chance to land a job in your field of study upon graduation. If this is not possible, you can work in just about any field after graduation.

      If you have a student visa, you can only study full time and work 20 hrs a week.

      Hi Eucharia, there are so many options depending on what you are looking to study, if you are a mature student and the sort of student life experience you are looking to have. I will make a video on this🙂

      If you work full time, then nursery/daycare is roughly £1000 a month for 10 hrs a day, Monday to Friday.

    It is funny to find out today that I don’t even know the visa to apply for when travelling to Scotland. I know Scotland is one of the for countries under uk but, can I travel to london as a student schooling on Glasgow without a visa?

      @Adaobi Okoli, I completely understand. You just need a UK visa to travel to Scotland. You do not need a separate visa to travel to London if you are a student in Glasgow. Once you have a UK visa (student visa inclusive), you can travel to anywhere in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England.
