@K W to me, i last played it maybe 8 months ago, and it's still a great game, it's problems aren't the game itself, the technical side of things is the problem
K W i frequently replay GTA:SA the only real problem with the game itself is the slow start up but i prefer a slower start than having giant shoot outs within 20 minutes of starting the game like in V
Yea those were disappointing, you'd think rockstar would put out a better port instead of running on emulation worse than it originally did. They could have at least put all 3 maps together (3, vc, sa)
I feel like the name of this video should be "Saints Row the Third Remastered is ACTUALLY Remastered." When you take into account all the half-assed ports going on these days that call themselves "Remastered," this is one of the few that legitimately deserves the title.
I wish GTA IV got this treatment, they really should remaster GTA IV Complete Edition so that it includes Episodes from Liberty City dlc but with this kind of effort!
Man it's so bad, frame rate drops all the time, game is terrible. They should be ashamed to release a game in the state that it is in. I want my money back!
They're actually making a sequel right now. 5 is apparently in development they announced this year, and if it's using this kind of graphics it should be pretty cool! I just hope they use some of saints row 2's features though
First I thought your comment was just a funny comment, but then I checked and they actually gave us that heavenly experience. 10/10 would click on 9:27 again thanks
I think the point IGN made was very well made. This is a visual overhaul. A visual overhaul of a very stylized game. Yes, it makes major improvements, but it does not change or add anything new to the game, and the game itself didn't have anything that broke it to cause a "NEED" for a remaster (at least for PC that is, technically it is brought up to current gen, but it waited until the end of the generation to do this, rather than the beginning of the next). Its a welcome upgrade, but with a very unwelcoming price tag if you've already gotten most of the fun out of the game previously, or still own the old one. Also, don't forget that the IGN guy mentions he had recently played a buggy switch port of the old version, so he had already gotten all of the fun out of the game, then pushed past that, and then played the same thing 'but shinier'.
I know it's easy, low hanging fruit to mock IGN online, but did anyone actually READ the review? It made complete silver, and was entirely fair. It got a 7.0 btw, which means "GOOD." I'm sorry it being called a good game bothers you? I hardly think some improved visuals make it a "GREAT, " or "AMAZING," game.
@@corey2232 I read the review and while I can unterstand the points made, they very much downplayed the effort taken to improve the visuals. Comparing a remastered game to remade games is just not fair. But in the end the 7/10 (or 70% if you're so inclined) is a fair rating. However keep in mind that the original release of Saints Row The Third achieved a 8/10, meaning the game lost somehow 1 point for including all DLCs now and being visually improved. At least... well... stick with the old rating when the game didn't get worse? Idk, just my two cents.
I played through it via Xbox Back Compat a couple of months ago straight after GTA5. I don't mind GTA5 but I'd had more fun with SR3 than that in the first couple of hours. Do it.
Saints Row 5 is literally confirmed. That's probably exactly why they remastered their best game in the franchise (arguably). Basically the best kind of promo you can do.
2 is the best the problem is most people didn't seem to care for it because GTA was the king back then is these type of game. You had San Andreas out GTA 4.

Same here.. 3rd is the best saints row. I remember when me and my buddy played. 3rd for the first time. We raced each other across the city in airports shults. The beat 3hours ever. Then we started our first mission lol. Good times
Yeah, the rain's not great, but honestly that McCaffrey guy is just disinterested or something. He's expecting the original vision to change drastically and has no appreciation for the advances in rendering.
Exactly what I was thinking. That IGN reviewer may have been making a good point, but I tend to put more stock in a Digital Foundry analysis than a 5 minute IGN review.
You speculated that they might be working on a new Saints Row game...... They all but confirmed it on their Twitter a few days ago! In the replies on the trailer for this remaster, someone asked them if a new one was coming out and the official Saints Row account replied with "a new Saints Row is in the works"
Love these videos. Ive learned so much terminology after watching these for over a year that I was able to somewhat understand Mark Cerny's presentation. Thanks for the breakdown of SR3
I do still dislike the actual design of Steelport though. Stilwater was so much better. It had a university, Chinatown, Barrio, Red Light district, airport, a mountain, an underground facility, a huge shopping mall, a prison, a suburban district, a boardwalk with casinos, a museum district, a downtown district, a nuclear power plant, and of course ye olde Saints Row. It also had more customization and interior locations. And at least the city actually changed between SR1 and SR2.
@@therealpizzagirl I actually think steelport was better suited to Saints Row 4 due to the fact that you're going so fast even if there was any detail you wouldn't be able to notice it.
I prefer the cash grabs if it means I'll actually be able to purchase the game. Unfortunately you either need a physical copy or a pc to get this one. Thousands of copies wasted in selling potential.
I dunno. You can tell it was rushed when you get a heap of unmentioned graphical glitches like lamp posts hovering in mid air and grass clipping through the freeway. Its still a fantastic effort, but if I can encounter those glitches in just the first hour then its clear they didn't do anything like as much checking as was needed.
The passion DF has for games and CGI in general I feel, is so refreshing, in videos like these you can clearly see that they fully understand what effortgoes into it even if they may not fully grasp what something does exactly, which they don't have to. They go above and beyond to explain in easy to understand language what a given technique aims to do, and what makes it difficult to render or outright taxing to use. Keep it up! It's highly enjoyable!
The only thing the special edition gave you was all the DLCs. It wasnt a remaster whatsoever. This remaster is literally just shiny new textures on a decade old game
pollutedcrimson Skyrim se has a completely updated engine and is now 64 bit instead of 32 bit. These changes are far more than what’s done here, although this is still a good remaster
@@pollutedcrimson That's not true at all. Special Edition has a fuck ton of engine updates and entirely reworked lighting and fog as well as massive improvements to foliage.

I think it helps to have a direct comparison to see the original. I saw he improvement but after seeing how the original work damn they went hard on this remaster.
That's kinda a low bar tbh. I have never seen ambient vehicle and pedestrian systems of an open world game nearly as defective as in CP2077. All those mid budget open world games from 10 years ago, like Saint's Row series, Mafia 2, Sleeping Dogs, even extra low budget ones like Wheelman, are more functional. Going back even further, Midtown Madness and Driver 2, all these late-90s games running in barely a couple MB of RAM manage their limitations better and have actually passable artificial city life too.
@@SianaGearz cyberpunk's world doesn't feel as alive compared to other open world games from previous generations like some of the ones you listed but you're pushing it with midtown madness and driver 2 lmao like c'mon now
@@evryfckinnameistaken Oh i'm not saying the artificial life in these games from 3 generations ago was comparable or strictly better, just that they played their cards right and did something cohesive with their limitations, it was simple but it felt good, because the games were designed against the capabilities they were able to deliver. Cyberpunk just pokes you in the eye with how insanely inadequate it is. They failed at the basics. Midtown actually had people and they would just jump out of the way of the car, that's nice.
I didn't know there was a remaster of this game. It's welcome news since I played that game a lot and always thought the graphics were a bit outdated even when it was released.
Digging this up, two years after the fact... They were, indeed, readying a new SR behind the scenes...... And done a better job on this remaster than a brand-new game! Go figure!?!?
Probably because they spent most of the effort on remaking the 1st mafia game? They are essentially developing a new triple a game while also remastering and reworking 2 more games.
They'll only patch it (fix bugs like the speed bug) and add the 360 DLC for free. It also will use Steams online services to allow coop again. But don't expect a remaster like Saints Row the Third. Though hopefully they will released mod tools so modders could have fun with it as well.
Really cool remaster. Hope to see a next Saints Row game based on Saints Row 1 & 2. Those games were awesome at the time, especially Saints Row 1 when it came out. Was impressive technically.
This makes Skyrim Special Edition look like they just took Skyrim and ported it to the slightly updated creation engine and called it a remaster. Oh wait, that is what they did.
And? That's exactly what they advertised it as, a port to a new engine (hence the "Special Edition" name instead of "Remastered"). I don't get why you brought it up.
You say that like it was a bad thing to do. It’s called the Special Edition, not the Remastered Edition. The performance, engine improvements, lighting changes, and being FREE are all well worth it. You sound like a moron complaining about it.

Meanwhile at IGN HQ: "Eh, nothing special"
It got a 7.0 btw, which means "GOOD."
I'm sorry it being called a good game bothers you? I hardly think some improved visuals make it a "GREAT, " or "AMAZING," game.
@@corey2232 I've seen you in so many replies jesus christ calm down
@@corey2232 I read the review and while I can unterstand the points made, they very much downplayed the effort taken to improve the visuals.
