Do you know why Yankee candle stores have little cups of coffee? If you smell coffee beans after smelling a candle, it will act like a pallet cleanser allowing you to smell other candles. That might be why it got so hard for you to smell each subsequent candle. I would recommend smelling some coffee beans after each candle to see if your ranking changed.
I was actually going to say the same thing! I was so upset that in all their research they didn't come across any references for a nose pallet cleanser.

I've always wondered why I can never find a coffee scented candle that doesn't smell sweet like "caramel macchiato" or "vanilla latte"
When my father passed away 8½ years ago, he left behind a truck. He was, regrettably, a heavy smoker (related fact, I'm sure you may have guessed). The truck reeked of cigarettes. One of the things that was recommended was to leave a cup of coffee grounds open in the cabin. Unfortunately it didn't help, it just made the truck smell like an old-fashioned truck stop diner.

Unless he spilled a jar of maple syrup in his car, he had a coolant leak somewhere. When coolant leaks in a car, it smells like maple syrup.

Also, Katelyn should be a sommelier. The way you smell the weird mixtures and immediately describe it as "hamster shavings!" or "if you spilled detergent on freshly cut grass" is just top-tier scent analysis!
I just heard "hamster shavings" and my mind just went to wondering what it would smell like shaving a hamster. I'm assuming she meant sawdust (the stuff made for animal cages), but no, my mind thought of just shaving up a hamster.
@@AlexaFaie I think that ironically the “hamster shavings” would probably also smell like sawdust/hamster bedding, hair holds the smells it’s around, and a hamster cage smells like sawdust, so by the transitive property so would the “shavings”.

Fun science fact: metal doesn't actually smell: the scent is created when the metal reacts with the oils from your skin. It's some complicated chemical that I don't remember. NileRed has a great video about, and he tried applying that chemical to other, non-metal objects. (That's where I learned that fact, since I'm no chemist myself.)
I love that video! His videos are all interesting but that one really sticks with me.
I also pull this fact out all of the time. People hate me for it.

Hey this is an Austrian (if you are German then you will know where and how close they are) 😆😉

Black is actually a very dark green. That’s why the black looks greenish. How to prove it is watering out an acrylic paint. *Some of them* will look green.
Yes, that one was green...but theirs is also brown, red... back in the day if we wrote on or black notebooks with a black pen the mark showed up red. LOL and if you’ve ever git ant bleach on black items you get to see which black it is...

If you're getting a headache from all the scents, sniff some coffee grounds. They act as a pallete cleanser like how pickled ginger us for foods. Just a little fun fact that I found out while testing perfumes at sephora!!
I've actually heard that sniffing your arm is more effective (obviously not if it's got perfume on it), because the smell of your arm is even more neutral than the coffee beans, and it truly cancels everything out

Really awesome to see the note about cooling the wax before adding the oil. I make things like beard butter and have learned the hard way that adding oils to something too hot just kills the scent.

I know that the workshop is only partially set up, but I would just like to comment saying I think it is important to keep the 'workshop' vibes. It makes projects feel like true projects, not just some people doing something in their living room. I think the shelves and storage containers in the old set really added to that theme.
