Look, I get the idea of inflating a reputation to deal with enemies, if they run away that's one less fight you have to have, but it's really bad when you start believing the hype yourself.

Rule #1 of the doctor is that he always lies. He probably had a million other ways he can win just by thinking on how to without his companions. But he really does take into account and makes a calculated move always.

The Doctor is an odd combination of compassionate and heartless. You never knew exactly which one you will see from him. That's what made the pre-season 11 Doctors so good.
Honestly, he comes off quite autistic, and I'd say that's a great way to do it. I'm personally autistic, and some days I can't believe I'm a human myself, that I'm the same species as the people around me, so a being intended to be seemingly human, but all wrong inside, hardwired a different way, but still close enough for most to believe it is the same, acting like they have some level of higher functioning autism is perhaps the best way someone could ever write them.

I was noting the similarities in mannerisms, while noting that if you're gonna make a human-like alien, but want his mentality to be the tell that he isn't human, then having the actor act vaguely similar to such autistic mannerisms is a fantastic way to deal with it.
I'm just gonna say that whenever the Jodie become the doctor the series went to shit, and it's not even her fault. I'm pretty sure that she's a good actor, it's just the person who took over after Peter turned it to shit (I forgot his name).

We really don’t know how old the doctor is. He said over 2000 right after 11 regenerated into 12 and has never said anything different right up until twice upon a time when 12 was regenerating. He spent 4 and 1/2 billion years in the confessional dial, but the doctor doesn’t seem to count that time. To make it more confusing, 11 said he can’t remember when he’s lying about his age when asked in the day of the doctor. As far as we know the Doctor doesn’t know his own age

not entirely true. modern who seems to want to ignore classic, and classic had three ages locked in, 2nd was 450, 4th was 756, 7th was 950. Making 8th at least 1000 years old, and how long did he help before he snapped and became the war doctor. The time war went for about 400/500 years, making him at least 1500 years old, 11 is 400 years older than him, making him at least 1900 years old, how long was he on Trenzalore to become an old man? Another 500/600 years? Making him about 2500 when he changed. And if was so traumatised by the time war he wanted to forget he is STILL at least 1400 years old as 11 and 1900 years old as 12!

Oof. His strong peptalk to Bill in Thin Ice is one of The Doctor's best moment. That is when I know he has grown as a person. I can't help comparing it to when he called back the Atraxia, when he's in Demon's Run, or the last time he's in Gallifrey. "Be kind" is really the theme of Series 10.

William Fazey worst part is though it’s not early. She’s had an entire season. Christopher only had one and bought an entire complex character to the show. Unlike Jodie.

If you would show this to someone who doesn't watch doctor who, they would think the Doctor is the villain in the story.
But even for me, who watched every episode, it was hard to remember all the good stuff the Doctor has done, because if you look at all his actions, most of them arent good.
Unless they were informed of who the Doctor is which different actors that are playing him and why he changes face and stuff it would just be weird because they would never understand from this video who those different people are and how they are connected (especially not that they're the same person)
Personally i dont think the doctor is a villain. He gave people chances but then those people abused it so the doctor feels guilty. Imagine letting someone go then that person massacres a group of people . You will feel guilty. Its choices like kill someone to save a bunch of people or save someone knowing they will kill which the doctor makes and no mater which one he chooses he will always be seen as the villain

I absolutely love this aspect of the doctor, that rage and hatred and darkness inside a man who hates violence and killing and refuses to use a gun, and yet he is soaked in the blood of galaxies, and this amazing depth and darkness is completely absent from the 13th doctor and s11, and frankly, it’s a tragedy
The "they hate you so much" from the Dalek Clara sounds so good.
God 9, 10, 11 & 12 are all incredible doctors.

I think I now understand why the 13th Doctor doesn't feel like the Doctor. From what I've seen of her, she hasn't had any "terrifying" presence that the Doctor has had so much before. She just seems like a normal woman who's kind of quirky and weird. 9-12, as well as others before them, always carried some kind essence or "presence" that felt like they were much older and more dangerous than was let on. There was always that sense that, like that whole speech about "Good Men don't need rules," the Doctor was just holding back or something and only his companions really managed to give him humanity.
So far, despite the 13th apparently already having plenty of episodes under her belt, hasn't showed any darker or wiser side to her. She's too normal and not commanding enough to be a Doctor.
I think she's actively trying to reduce her impact. After everything Twelve went through, Thirteen wants more than anything to rest. The Flux is showing that under pressure, her instinct is to preserve, which I think is admirable against what we saw as the instinct from some of the earlier incarnations and it vibes a lot with the Third Doctor, who definitely could and did bring the slap down, but he was a scientist first and foremost. Thirteen is the most approachable, which I like. Honestly, I think she, Nine, and Twelve would get along fairly well. As well as several of the early Doctors.
13 isn't necessarily a bad character, she just doesn't feel like the Doctor. 9-12 all have their own distinct personalities but it's still clear that they're all the same being and you just don't get that with 13. I think you're right in saying she's too normal. She's missing the underlaying darkness and trauma and the feeling of someone so old that you get from previous Doctors, those dark, scary, emotional moments when the mask slips and you see what the Doctor is truly capable of. She's just all happy all the time and it doesn't fit with who the Doctor is.
I REAAAALLLY hope we get to see this side of 13 soon.

God, you captured everything I love about the Doctor so perfectly. Honestly, this is amazing. I LIVE for seemingly goofy, yet smart characters with a deep, underlying sadness and bitterness. I think this side of the Doctor doesn't get appreciated enough sometimes

It's amazing how with just one season (the ninth doctor) they got everything they needed right, and then they polished it season by season. Long live Russell T Davies and Christopher Eccleston, who over and above their differences managed to take this off so that it later became the most epic series I know.

If you really think about it the Doctor is so freaking terrifying. Even though he is kind and charming there is a side to him that would make you go into a ball and cry.

My two hearts are beating so hard after this! I can only hope I have someone half as talented as you to edit tribute videos to the characters in screenplays I write one day. I adore your rendition of our oh so precious Doctor and his god damn God Complex. He never learns. So is he a good man, after all? I tend to agree with Clara, I don’t know, but he tries to be and I think maybe that’s the point. Tricky though when you remember him transforming his children of time into himself. Only time will tell.

When Bill asks the Doctor how many people he's killed, that was a truly incredible bit of acting from both Capaldi and Mackie. I have one objection, though: I refuse to believe that the Doctor ever lost count of how many people he killed, no matter how old he got.

To quote 12, I lost count, but lest we forget, the Doctor's REALLY darker aspect, the Valeyard represent the opposite of the Doctor stands for, and destruction is his..... and soon to be HER ally... which thank goodness HE / SHE is not. This video shows just how scary the doctor can really be, you could hide on the most obscure planet in the universe, and the doctor would still find you. But he wouldn't kill you, oh no, he'd let you live, with the knowledge that no matter how hard you try he will find you.

I feel like when the doctor first set out to c the universe he didn't expect it to be so crazy and now it's slightly made him into a darker character.
This is what the 13th doctor is missing. The rage and anger they had after the time war. The way they hide it with hunour. The fear that they will descend back to the ways of the warrior hiding inside of them. The makers are trying to make this doctor more like the originals. Something that they cannot do because of the time war.
