- This is the story about the Doctor, about the lonely god... He has seen so much, maybe too much. He has lost so much, maybe too much. Does the universe owe him? Do we owe him? he is the Time Lord, he was lost in the universe, trying to get back home all this time, but eventually he found it, isn't he lost again?

I love how this truly brings out the best in each Doctor.
Whenever the Doctor regenerates, he becomes a different person, and we find that hard to accept and get used to. But at the end of Eleven's time, he said, everyone changes, and it's very true. We change in ways that are hidden, but he changes in ways that are much more obvious.
My favourite has always been David and Matt, however, this has truly given me a new appreciation for Christopher and Peter.
The Ninth Doctor had just come out from the war, and to see the enemies who he spared continue to cause trouble to the universe, he feels anger, rage, and sorrow. Only towards the end, does he accept that the war is a part of him, and that he has done what he believed to be right.
The Twelfth Doctor, is slightly bit more arrogant, he's really revealing his age, and no longer hiding his pride as a Timelord. Having finally accepted his past at the end of Trenzalore, he has become whole, and has finally become the Doctor.
What this show is trying to teach us is that. We should believe and have faith in our actions, and that we need to accept the past, because only by doing so will we be able to become whole.
This literally just made me feel like typing up this up. I felt like it was one of those English assignments where you have to analyse literature :')

This is what the new Doctor is missing; Jodie Whitaker isn't a bad actor, but she's missing the unpredictable and dark side of doctor who, she is either nice and compassionate or she's witty. She misses a whole dynamic of his character, and that pisses me off so much.

One of the most relatable foundations of the doctor is his intense, deep loneliness. Loneliness is a feeling everyone can relate to and feel.
And hes a man with more guilt on his soul, more loss, more pain, more loneliness in his heart than anyone else. And he moves forward. Jokes around and smiles in the face of it. The doctor loves, despite what he has been through.
I love that about him. And i want to do the same thing.
The death of Amy and Rory affected the doctor more than anything. They were the best.
The only TV series which not just survives the change of the main character, but thrives on it!
Well, it's still the "same" main character, just in a different body... that changes his personality... and his clothing... and his opinions... and the general tone of the serie- It's still The Doctor.
Unfortunately, the show seems to be nosediving due to bad writing and bad decisions... Jodie could have been alright, but there is some rubbish material behind her, so...

That clearly puts the doctor 100x higher than Disney
They really chose brilliant actors for each iteration. Ecclestone really gave that "war-weary veteran" feel, still dogged with the instincts and hate. Tennant had the feel of someone trying to be a new man but was still haunted. Matt had that manic alien-ness of the Doctor in full. So similiar to humans but it was the small things that set your alarms off. Capaldi had the wrath.

Same man… I feel the same way. I come back here to watch and appreciate for like the 1000th time what this show was, what made it so incredible. It’s this Doctor Who that keeps my love for it so fresh and eternal. 12 really was the last of the greatness, I miss him so much, we were really blessed then, honestly. I never felt there was enough of his doctor. It’s a shame.

Jordan Nelson I bought series 1-4 box set with extra material. But they left out the four 2009 specials. They left out the 10/11 regeneration. I mean...what were they thinking??
matt smith will always be my favorite doctor but man, every doctor from this era had something extremely special about them. what a wonderful edit. reminded me why i spent so many years passionately loving this series.
He is always destined to be alone, a true legend who is as timeless, as the actors who shared his journey with us.

Can’t believe most of these scenes were a decade ago
It’s heartbreaking to see the double digits and have it become further and further away. It feels so close though, like I was just watching most of these on TV for the first time or even still a recent fresh rewatch. Yet this show is still held so closely to my heart. It’s so odd.
I'm reminded of how Amy described the star whale: "All that pain and misery. And loneliness. And it just made it kind."

So simple but complex at the same time. Simple words, but enormous feeling, enormous beauty.
The 13th Doctor is just missing all the layers and trauma and darkness and complexity that the Doctor has and it makes her feel like she's not really the Doctor. She has a few moments that could be good but she's missing all the stuff behind them that makes them so memorable and meaningful for the other Doctors. We've only seen 13 as happy and excited, but we need to see her get mad and be unpredictable and show us what's beneath her vail because the Doctor isn't just happy and excited and that's why we love them.
Still one of my favorites motivational edits I listened to this in 2017 and it’s still an incredible feeling this Brings! 😂

Very much enjoying most of DW, I have to admit that I don't think it's a good show overall. But there are quite a few good episodes, and even some masterpieces. But most of it ranges from bland/enjoyable to just bad.
I greatly enjoyed watching the original doctors back in the day, and was mildly looking forward to the reboot of DW. However as I watched, I liked it less and less. The doctor seemed more petty, a touch sexist towards men, and a LOT more mary sue.
The mary sueness just made me too nauseous. The episode where the master was going to destroy the earth and the whole planet prayed to the doctor so he could break free was simply beyond disgusting. I stopped watching.

Man, as a fan of this show since the reboot I fucking love this. The song is so beautiful but the well edited clips bloody make it by showing the Doctor's pain and heart break. Definitely your best work by far and I shall continue to watch it three or four times a day for the rest of my life.

David Tennant is such an amazing actor, he brings so much emotion and for me he is the best Doctor ever
Dr. Who and Star Trek -- two series that opened my mind to the world of science fiction, and I can't possibly choose between the two because their approaches are so radically different
I may be 6 years late but can we pls appreciate the beauty of the montage + music and how freaking emotional it is? I haven't even finished watching the doctor and it still brought a tear to my eye
If there is one entity that I admire in the fiction world
It would be "The Doctor".
He's the last of the time lords, he has saved and he has destroyed, not a hero nor a villain, one who understand pain more than anyone, one who wanted to live and at the same time wanted to die, the being that is feared throughout the universe with just his name alone, he's truly a "Lonely God"

I will never get over how much potential Peter's seasons had but yet didn't live up to. To me his delivery was the most inspirational as someone who has always wanted to be an actress and he isn't even my favourite Doctor (not only because of storylines). Don't get me wrong, there were some great incredible moments in his seasons but as a whole it could have been so much more. But then I guess after Eccleston and Tennant and after Amy and Rory, there were always improvements to be made with Smith too. Smith being my favourite doctor and Clara my favourite companion.
I learned to play that song on the piano after watching this...
And everytime I play it, Clara says in my head "There's a man... called the Doctor He lives on a clound in the sky... and keeps the whole world safe."
And it's BEAUTIFUL.

I like to imagine that the doctor checks all his past friends when he has a new face but never tell them who he is, he just watches to make sure there ok.
I love that Davros tries to literally destroy the fabric of reality, but he names the doctor "the destroyer of worlds" because he blew up the Dalek crucible ship.

I think doctor who is a great example of the part of heroism that no one really sees, they save all these people, do their very best to help everybody but in reality it never works out perfectly, and they blame themselves for everything that goes wrong even if it was impossible to avoid, this breaks some heroes but then there are those few that realize that if they stop for that reason only more people will get hurt. They push through because they couldn't have it any other way
except the doctor is a fuckng timelord who killed more men than anybody else, lost more men than anybody else and suffered more lifs than anybody else

I miss Peter Capaldi soo freaking much. He was the most heartbreaking one. He was soo lonely and he felt humble.
He tryed to help everyone..he accepted his fate at the end.

to me he was outside the box... not what i was expecting, the first episodes i really didnt like him, but them i realised it was part of the concept of this new doctor, he was getting his bearings on things. And by the time his time has a doctor ended, he was in my top 3.
I agree wholeheartedly with you , Peter capaldi’s Doctor is when I started to properly watch it , I absolutely loved his doctor and the depth and layers he brought to the character , he could do anything he wanted and yet chose to be a force of good, we should all strive to be like him , never cruel nor cowardly.

Imagine being The Doctor for a second. All the pain he's suffered. All the deaths he's witnessed. All the people he's lost, from his planet and people, to Rose, Donna, Martha, Amy and Rory, Bill and Clara, and River and all the previous companions too. There must be so much pain inside him that he keeps hidden.
