    So the era of the 12th Doctor comes to an end. Twelfth Doctor is a mixture of anger, despair, devotion and pain. In the end, he was left alone. That is very sad. This Doctor is adorable. And that's how Peter plays incredibly and talented. And now, for me he became my Doctor, if I may say so. It was the 12th Doctor has become part of me.

    I consider 12 to be the final Doctor, Capaldi completed the Doctor's character arc. Eccelston's doctor dealt with guilt, Tennant focuses on the Doctor's darkness, Matt Smith's Doctor focused on running away from his problems. Capaldi's Doctor stopped and asked himself "Am I a good man?" and chose to be kind.

Actually, the first appearance of this number in the Bible is associated with rebellion and we can see it in Genesis 14:4. It is said in the Bible that number 13 is a symbol of all governments that a man has created and that Satan has inspired....charlie burkett MUST become 14...The number 14 represents deliverance or salvation and is used twenty-two times in the Bible. The term "14th" is found 24 times in scriptures.
      The fourteenth day of the first month is the Passover, when God delivered the firstborn of Israel from death. Some 430 years earlier, on the night of the 14th day of the first month, God made two covenant promises to Abraham - one of the physical seed, Isaac, and his descendants, and one of the spiritual seed, Jesus Christ, and the sons of God who would come through Him, who would shine like the stars of heaven (Matthew 13:43). On the day portion of the 14th, God confirmed the promises with a special covenant sacrifice.
      "After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, 'Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.' But Abram said, 'Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?' . . .
      "And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 'This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.' Then He brought him outside and said, 'Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.' And He said to him, 'So shall your descendants be'" (Genesis 15:1 - 2, 4 - 5, NKJV).

    One of things I absolutely love about Peter is the way he can portray the tortured soul of the Doctor. He has been alive for thousands of years,
    has fought terrible wars, lost almost everyone and everything he loves. The idea of a troubled Doctor, exploring the moral dilemma of whether
    he is a good man, while being terrified of the answer, seems more in line with a being who has lived that long. His decisions, his speeches and his moments of happiness and silliness all feel far more meaningful when told in the context of an old but powerful being who has lost more than anyone. That also gives much more depth and meaning to his relationship with Clara, his connection to the ordinary, his hope for redemption.

      The Bible is truth. Please read at least Genesis Mathew and one book you chose yourself. The important part is combining the reading with the inner work Jesus Christ taught. Forgiveness is the thing that makes it all click. To be forgiven we must forgive. The key is our parents. They’ve loved us to some degree, feeding raising clothing, etc. we all build up grievances there. Actually dealing with those issues, and genuinely forgiving from within is what makes it all click. The doctor is probably one of the most difficult roles to play from an actors point of view, all of the conflicting personality traits and alien like thinking whilst still being human like, but almost every actor that gets this role plays it perfectly, Peter really brought out all of those things and highlighted his vulnerability

  • @mekonta

    Peter Capaldi is brilliant as the Doctor, a traditional Doctor that displays more of the classic character traits of the Doctor from the original series just how he should be, rather than the 'boyfriend' types of recent years many have probably only been used to. Peter has definitely been the best of the new bunch. He echoes the mysterious alien characteristics of the Doctor we all grew up with in the 1960s and 70s or caught up through DVDs and he absolutely nails the character to the core.
    I will truly be sorry to see him finally go come Christmastime.
    Thank you, Peter and bless you. [manly hugs... sod it, loving, holding hugs!]

    God I miss his face. He just looked like The Doctor, it's that simple. Looked, walked, sounded, felt like - he was The Doctor, and will remain The Doctor to me. Yeah, the show was somewhat inconsistent throughout his era, but Capaldi himself was nothing but consistent. In fact, he only got better over time, and was always an absolute joy to watch. He made me smile, he made me cry, he made me angry, he made laugh. I've never felt prouder to own a (Well, three and a special) DVD box-set in my life! Lol

    I miss Capaldi's Doctor so much. He isn't just an actor playing the Doctor, he is the Doctor. Tennant's incarnation used to be my favourite but Capaldi's is just magnificent.
    Seeing the current state of the show sometimes makes me a little sad. Even though there were some writing issues in previous era's, the worst episodes from back then are better than the best current episodes. Whittaker has potential to be a decent Doctor, but will never be better than Capaldi.

    • @michaeldaniels642
      @michaeldaniels642 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      The big problem with Whittaker is they focused to much on the fact it is a Woman Doctor instead of telling the story of The Doctor who is now a woman. The difference being the second would tell us why the Doctor is now a woman? What did he need to learn that required him becoming a woman? Much like how when The Doctor became older when Capaldi took over there was focus on that fact and that his regenerations were trying to teach him something through it which made for a great character arc.

      @@michaeldaniels642 Exactly. The storyline with Missy didn't need to entifely focus on the fact that she was a woman because it focused on the arc between the Doctor and the Master. It focused on her redemption and her friendship, not the fact that she was a her.

    He is not human, yet much more human than anyone realizes. It is his job to stop the monsters, absorb the pain, live the sorrow, save those that deserve saving, and so often, do it alone. "A duty of care". How simple, yet so devastating. He doesn't always succeed, but always carries on. How Peter Capaldi plays such a character, more seriously than David Tennant or Matt Smith, is why he will go down as the best Doctor of the modern era. The performances he gives in "Face the Raven", "Heaven Sent" and "Hell Bent" are about as good as it gets. In the instant Clara dies, he knows he has failed and must save her, tries to do it by the rules, then shreds the rules and betrays himself and all he stands for to eventually save her. But he cannot keep her, that's his punishment, and her last message until his end tells him to carry on. And he fails again with Bill, but is forgiven, then makes a wrong right by helping the first Doctor save himself. He gets Clara back and finally lets the Doctor go with words that ring true. It was an ending in more ways than one: a new and radically different "Doctor Who" was created to follow Capaldi's work, and is struggling to find it's way, much like 1963 and 2005.

      Why do you think people love stories about the chosen one? Or why do some people even idolize superheros. Or even why do people looove WWE superstars? The need for a hero is installed within our souls. And writers, comic book artists, directors have exploited that need for profit. Their is nothing wrong with loving them thou.. But i tell you😭 their is a Real hero who installed that need in your soul in the first place. Jesus christ left his throne in heaven and came to the world he taught he healed people then he was humbled betrayed humiliated killed and on the third day he rose from the dead. As God's sacrifice for our sins. If you humbly honestly pray repent for all your sins(read the10 commandments) and believe/trust that Jesus did all that for you ..You will be saved..Jesus saves you from hell fire🔥.. and gives you eternal life in heaven. This might be the last time you read the gospel..he is coming back soon not as the sacrificed lamb of God🐑 but as the king of the universe🤴 with fire in his eyes🔥. the Judge of all mankind. I really enjoyed a very small shot in the last episode , it's exactly at 9:48 and it's just 1 second long , but that small camera movement accompanied with the Peter's hand movement , sums up for me cinematically all the doctor's traits , the elegancy of his body movement , old style fashion costumes , majestic hair that reminds me of older doctors , and just overall his body language . I liked that , that was the final choice in a cutting room rather than some wide shot . I'm glad it's in this video too .

    Capaldi is easily the best Doctor to me, and arguably objectively too, at least from a character writing perspective. He was the most flawed I think, and acted out his traits in a way that actually caused friction with those around him (at least compared to previous doctors). His role wasn't just to be a Mary Sue type focal point of adoration and superiority in the same way the last couple of Doctors were. His superiority wasn't clad in kids gloves for the benefit of others, his was marred by cynical realism and a total lack of tact.
    Basically, the doctor behaving in a way that actually reflects what he is, acting his age so to speak, made his conflicts more interesting and rationalized. I could probably spend hours talking about Capaldi's Doctor from a writing perspective, I genuinely think he blows the others out of the water.

    • @charlieharcombe7585
      @charlieharcombe7585 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can have your opinion but he is no way objectively the best even from a character writing perspective. That would be tennant. His journey and development right from his first and last appearance was brilliant. In my opinion 10 was by miles the best with Eccleston in second and Tom baker third. However I do think he’s better than Matt Smith. Matt Smith is very overrated

    • @A-Duck
      @A-Duck 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@charlieharcombe7585 You can have your opinion, but there is no way Tennant is the best Doctor in terms of writing.
      He, along with Matt Smith, are the two Doctors that suffer the most from Gary Stu syndrome, acting as pure self-insert wish fulfillment with flaws only surfacing in moments contrived to make the point that he has flaws, usually being immediately forgotten. Through out both of their runs, they only reveal their one or two token flaws a scant few times, with no lasting presence. Capaldi's Doctor on the other hand, never loses his flaws, they're always there and frequently cause tension and problems in a way that makes sense.

    • @charlieharcombe7585
      @charlieharcombe7585 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Duck tennant definitely has the best writing. Capaldi could have been much better had he been given better writing because his was pretty shocking at times. Wdym 10 didn’t have flaws with lasting consequences? He had a few such as with Martha. Couldn’t love anyone other than Rose and it made Martha leave. Or even waters of mars. Tennant showed his dark side a lot better than anyone. There is plenty of tension in 10s run. Also Capaldi has constant flaws that cause issues? That doesn’t make the writing good or make up for the things it lacks. I’m not even sure how that counts as good writing. Season 4 is the best season throughout all of doctor who especially in terms of writing. The build up and hints towards the stolen earth and the daleks was brilliant. Also some of tennants episodes are mind bogglingly good. Midnight was a master piece in terms of everything including writing. Forest of the dead and silence in the library. Stolen earth. Turn left. Waters of mars. Voyage of the damned. There are only two episodes of capaldi that reach those heights (even then they are bottom of the bunch) and those being the zygon inversion and heaven sent. I’m sorry but you can have your opinion all you like but it really doesn’t change the fact that tennant had the much better writing. It’s a massive gap. You’re letting bias cloud your judgement my friend

    • @A-Duck
      @A-Duck 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@charlieharcombe7585 I'm talking about character writing, not the writing for the show in general. You seem to be conflating the two and using that as the basis for your claims concerning the characters themselves. So, I think it is you, in fact, who is allowing bias to cloud your understanding. At least with regards to this specific conflation between your overall impression of a season and the character writing. I would never argue that Capaldi's seasons were the best written, they're not, and it's extremely disappointing considering how I regard his character specifically.
      On the matter of character flaws, what exactly is it about their connection to writing quality that you're confused on? I can approach this from a few angles, but it would be helpful to know where you're coming from. The basic reason why flaws are important, particularly those that are nuanced and/or able to be empathized with, is that they help greatly to create characters with depth, that are believable, and add flavour to how characters interact with the world. A good writer will use character flaws to organically create drama, conflict, and tension by interfacing those flaws with other entities, reinforced by cause and effect. This creates scenarios and interactions that are satisfying to the audience because they're natural. A well designed character should have flaws that are meaningful and present where they should be. And no, romantic intrigue does not count as a character flaw. That's not how that works.
      The reason why Capaldi's writing stands out is due to how his flaws are, to put no finer point on it, more mature. He is not just a perfect god creature with a "dark side" (that's actually just yet more wish fulfillment in the form of a threatening presence) that only surface on rare occasion to add flare or another moment of contrived drama. Capaldi is _deeply_ flawed, as in to the very core, and he acts his flaws out in nearly every interaction he has in a natural way. This is good for a few reasons- the flaws are of a nature that speak to what the doctor is and his history, he is old, he is tired of pretense, and his flaws mirror that interesting facet of his bio. So the flaws are meaningful, they make sense, they reflect his history, and they're symbolized by his appearance, so it's even communicated visually. Excellent, the writer is using every part of the horse, that's very gratifying when done well. Then there's the role the flaws have in his behaviour. In contrast to Tennant or Smith's Doctor, his character flaws have a more active role in the development of events and the perceptions of other characters, because they're actually present. His flaws are always expressed, they aren't just a footnote in the character bio to be carted out in the season finale, or during an episodes high point in the drama/conflict to add spice in an extremely obvious manner. Rather, Capaldi's flaws often create the conflict naturally. You know, the way things usually work in real life. This is not to say that Tennant or Smith's flaws never took an active role in the shaping of events, just not nearly to a similar extent, and usually they're only expressed to make the doctor seem more dangerous or wounded, both of which are hero traits so generic as to be tropes.
      Anyway I've ranted long enough. My basic point is this- Capaldi's Doctor has, in my view, a far more well rounded profile. His flaws are better rationalized, have a greater impact, and result in a more satisfying character from a writing perspective.

Jesus loves you❤

    Doctor who as a show is amazing. Has it faltered? Yes it has, no one thing is perfect. This Doctor was one of the tops because he’s basically at the end of his life, he’s there contemplating what he’s done. What he has achieved and what impact he has had in everyone around him. He fights with his life because he doesn’t want a civilisation or group of people to become like him. But it’s his ‘sidekicks’ that bring him to Earth, that makes him want to fight the good fight for everyone. Imagine a world if the Doctor never went to Earth. Never met Rose, Clara or any other of the companions. He wants to give up, he just wants to die and move on. But he puts on a brave face and a sort of facade so others won’t become as sad or desperate as him, or to reach the depravities that he would. He has the ability, and sometimes crossed the line to be evil. Peter is one of the top doctors out there because if the wide range of emotions he shows and I follow those emotions with him and when he’s sad I’m sad, when he’s happy I’m happy. The original doctors shaped a prior generator but the newer doctors shaped a different generation, and it’s such a shame he never got that much appreciation.

      I'd like to add something to this excellent comment. (I have never seen this show, but I found this video after watching House Multifandoms, I love it!) This line which finishes this brilliant vid is the culmination of my philosophy as it stands!
      Everything ends, and it's always sad! But everything begins again and it's always Happy. Be HAPPY!
      Everyone you have ever met will die, you will die! Does that mean that you should meet less people so that you get hurt less? ...Emphatically NO! Be happy for the time you have together, for what they pass on to you, which you can then pass on! Do not be fixated on negatives to YOUR detriment, if you are weak you cannot serve anyone! If you are aware of severe detriment to your society as I am, know, things go in cycles, this will pass, good will out!!!
      I should like to add more to this in the future, as in a complete dissemination of the entire vid as someone who has not seen the show, but has already interred its knowledge!

    It took me until today. With the same tears in my eyes. To realize that the twelfth doctor is literally just the older version of the tenth doctor living through his sins and his regrets. The 11th doctor was just hiding from what was coming, a youthful escape. But Tenant and Capaldi played the same version at different ages. And it makes everything especially the love story with River so much more amazing.

      Totally agree. While I love the previous Doctors - Capaldi's got something totally unique and different about how his Doctor is portrayed. He seems a lot more soul destroying tortured than his previous incarnations. Just brilliant. Am glad that this video highlights how good he is. Plus he gets to meet my other favourite doctor - the original you might say.

      There were several good episodes in the Capaldi era, but the quality declined by the end.
      I think there were too many resolutions that didn't make sense, plot holes, build ups that amounted to a final disappointment. All fault of the writers, not Capaldi.
      By the end of his last series, I just stopped caring about the absurdity of the story and just enjoyed the performances of Capaldi, Makey, Gomez, Simms and Lucas. All of them brought their A game to the last two episodes.
      One scene missing from this great compilation, when the Doctor yells and stops the regeneration burring his hands in the snow, I got chills. All the rage, frustration, rebellion sounded like a roar, almost beyond human. Capaldi acted the brains out of the script he was handed.

Jesus loves you❤

    Since the "good man" question, 12 is always searching for what defines him. When he says "who I am is where I stand, where I stand is where I fall" he finally finds out what it is: he is defined by how much he is willing to sacrifice for the things he stands for. That's brilliant, that's why he's addicted by distress calls and that's also what makes him an "idiot". As Dostoevskij (author of "The Idiot") said "if a man always do anything with good intentions, then he must definitely be an idiot". I also love how he fights his own regeneration, and everybody can get his own interpretation about this, personally I think his sense of duty is so strong that he'd rather to die in the most painful way than let anybody else (the new Doctor in this case) "have to live like this, [...] feel this pain". Everything he does is a sacrifice for someone else, that's why he finds so hard to regenerate, it's against his own nature. In his last episode he thinks he has to face some evil plan but then he finds out that's no evil plan, because it's the episode when he must win against his own nature, and finally he can let his guard down for once
