If you found this video and have a 2016 ford fiesta S/ SE the sensor does not need to be wrenched out. There is a retaining pin you pull out with pliers and then pull the sensor after that.
the sensor will just free spin if you wrench it on that model.
thanks for the video it was very helpfull.

Got a code a couple of months ago to change the sensor and I honestly forgot all about it. Now my car has a few more codes which indicates most of the other symptoms mentioned in this video. I have the sensor at home and will be changing it today right after work. Thank goodness to the TH-cam algorithm Gods for giving me this video to watch HAHA! Me too. Checking fan relay its showing the right voltage to fan . Hot wired fan it works. So the cooling sensor is next . But its behind the alternator and unter the intake. Sooo gona just remove alternator change it and put new belt on .Hopefully thats solves it being the fan relay module is $160 vs temp sensor at $20.

Is it bad to run with a bad sensor ?

  • @user-hq7ff6kx6b

Hello, my car is a fiat bravo 2 2008 1.6 multijet diesel. Since I have it from the last summer the car does not have a stable idle. In the winter that problem was gone. This summer it is here again. I tried a lot of things but nothing is helping. Now I have error codes P01EA and P0487(for EGR). P01EA looks like very generic code but it looks like the ones for engine coolant problems. So I am thinking is it possible for a faulty coolant temperature sensor to cause an unstable idle when the car is warming and hot? For example, maybe the coolant temperature sensor is sending wrong information to the ECU that the car is still cold and the ECU is pushing the wrong air-fuel mixture as if the car is cold? Thanks in advance!

The coolant sensor was changed before. My scan tool says that it is runnubg a few degrees over normal temp! I pulled all the plugs today to find that engine oil waspushing up into the plugs. Two plugs had a lot of oil on them. I cleaned them and re installed them. Nexdt week I will remove onlt those two plugs to see if they are wet with oil. If so, the seal gasket must be broken under the cover. In that case I would need to replace that gasket that prevents engine oil from spashing up onto the plugs. Anyways thanks. The ECT sensor was replaced some time ago with a OEM part. Maybe it is still bad!

Hey man. My 07 Accord got the P0128 code. I replaced the thermostat and refilled (all OEM). The same code came back. The mechanic tested the coolant temp and said it's within the normal range. He thinks it's the fan switch/sensor and the coolant sensor near the engine are to blame need to be replaced? What do you think? Is it possible that both sensors go bad at the same time? Why not replace the fan sensor first and see if that will resolve the issue?

I got it too after installing an aftermarket fuel pump. the stock fuel temp sensor had a resistance 2 ohms at around 70 deg the aftermarket was around 1k ohm at 70 degrees. pull the bac seat remove the panel and disconnect harness from the fuel pump. you'll then be able to test the two pins going to the fuel temp sensor for resistance/continuity. if that checks out check wiring.

Have you tried remodulating the inducer valve conducer spring? All you need is about a ½ gal of used gas, couple toothpick halves,
Get someone to lend you a 10-20 gal fish tank (preferably with fish already in it), take it to the closest pet shop and have them board the fish for however long you'll need. Soon as you get home its imperative that you run in as fast as you can with the tanks remaining contents to prevent the aquarium rocks from dissolving cause you'll need those to filtrate the coolant immediately once it reaches room temperature upon your return. Make sure you prop the hood 1st to cut down your clean time tho. Once the hoods secure, dump the tank water and its remaining contents over the radiator fans at a slow drip pace. Yeah your arms will get sore holding the aquarium up that long but once U see the end result you'll be all like: hell yeah bro😎. U don't know this but
the fish oil has healing properties you can use to budget fix any all terrain vehicles internal components. Although you'll have to repeat the process every 398 to 11,492 miles or 14.3 months, whichever comes 1st. Just don't forget to soak the alternator in some organic pickled bologna juice for 46 hrs before you try to start it back up or you'll have to replace the whole windshield. And U already know how long those take to make this time of year smh.

I think this might be what's wrong with my car. Does the ECT sensor failure always throw an error code and turn on the Check Engine Light?
My radiator fan looks like it never starts spinning, and the coolant hoses are very hot. However, I don't get the engine overheat warning light.
Also, sometimes it takes a long time to start the engine. So these are two of the signs you mention.

A complete failure, in ECT sensor always cause the check engine light to show up. However, a change in sensor reception can cause altered values which could be the reason radiator gan don't turn on. Also the engine temp should be around 90 to 100 degrees to turn the fan ON.

Hi, the gauge shows cold if the sensor is damaged or the wire to the sensor is faulty. do check the reference voltage and ground at connector. if you have good 5 or 12volts and good ground, it's probably the sensor. The sensor should be an oe. Aftermarket sensor might have different resistance characters which might cause altered reading too.

If you disconnect the sensor, the engine goes to safe mode and fan runs contiously neglecting the real time temp of the car. Check the coolant temp with an external temp guage and check if the fan or relay gets power after coolant crosses 100 degrees. Note. if the coolant crosses 112~115 degress, nd no fan, stop the engine.

Is it normal that the computer doesnt let me start the car when ECM fails? Because my car suddenly drops its temp reading to 0, and RPMs start to rise. Then when I turn the car off the fan starts. If I try to start the cart, it won't. My workaround has been to unplug the fan relays, plug them back, and then the car starts again. I tested the relays and they work properly, so I assume it's the ECT.

@@jun91671 Yes. The water temperature sensor was failing and the ECU prevented the car from starting. I just changed the sensor and the problem was solved

How long does the car drive with a bad temp sensor

    • @dailyhandsdiy
      @dailyhandsdiy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It's a bit risky driving with bad temp sensor...if it reads low temp and din signal the ecm to switch on rad fan....you may end up overheating engine and may distroy the engine.

My car is starting to over heat and seems like the Fans act up they don’t really kick on and if they do it like really late they don’t turn on time which causes it to over heat and it can be over heating fans won’t be on but soon as I shut the car off the fans will kick on and cool the car down right away but start the car again fans will be off and car will over heat again …… if anybody had similar issue and might know what could it be let me know please thanks
