- I met up with the hilarious Adam Carolla to test our racing skills at World of Racing in Pasadena. Adam plays my dad in our new animated series, “Mr. Birchum”! In real life, Adam has extensive racing experience, while I was brand new to the world of racing.

All eight of them
F1 is so boring. Come to Super GT where it's still fast*, cars actually pass each other, and the victor isn't determined before the first race day.
*Fastest closed wheel cars in motorsport, now that LMP1 was abandoned for silly "hypercars". Previously, they were on par with the non-hybrid LMP1s.
this is why the motorsport community is horrible, we all love fast cars lets leave it at that
Oh come on now, they should've raced Mini Cooper and Toyota Corolla.
😂

@@jessmark763The Corolla is made by Toyota - so Japanese. MINI has British origins but it’s now developed by BMW Group - so it’s German.

15 years ago, I listened to *The Adam Carolla Show* daily. Now I listen to Brett Cooper regularly. Seeing Brett and Adam together feels like young me and old me having a conversation. it's trippy.
That's awesome man! Must be a very strange lucid dream-like nostalgia!

Fr, that corner was so hard for me😭
It's Casio Triangle at Suzuka for me. That slow sequence is so anticlimactic... it's a lot of throttle from Spoon onwards, and you're about to get full on it past the grandstands.... except for this one stupid pair of corners. I hate whoever designed that bit. They have stolen my dreams and childhood.

Adam says he’s done a lot of racing but the way he keeps moving his hands around to a million different positions on the wheel makes him look like a beginner.
Fr
Yeah, real weird. Maybe the force feedback setting was too high for him so he needed extra leverage or something. Can't think of another reason for the hands dance.
Not surprising. I think Adam relies on what he feels through the seat to tell him what the car is doing. Sim racing is much more visual. Even top of the line motion sim rigs can't communicate all of the kinesthetic information a driver gets in the real car.
I'd be like having one of Brett's videos playing, but you can't see anything and you're only hearing every third word.
@@shaggysocal I’m sure that’s true (I only race in a sim) but this doesn’t have anything to do with hand position on the wheel. Constantly changing your hand position on the wheel doesn’t give you any advantage as far as feeling what the car is doing. If anything it would hurt more than help in that regard. I’ve never seen an irl racer or any at least somewhat serious sim racer do that.
@@ViaticalTree I see him doing a push/pull technique where, for example, he moves his left hand to the top of the wheel before turning left. If anything, it might help him manage the weight of the wheel in the corner. If you watch his onboards in Paul Newman's GT1 car, you'll see him do it the same thing to lesser degree.
Watching Brett Cooper not checkup and rear end a previous GT class driver then proceed to understeer into a wall 🤣🤣🤣🤣 did not know I was missing this in my life. Makes me want finish one of my cars more now and get back to the autocross or hill climbs.
Oh and she actually did not do that bad... allowing yourself to be a beginner is a big deal, she can do it if she really wants to pursue it.
1000% more entertaining than the 2024 Monaco procession we just had.
Outside of the outcome I agree
Well when you only really have two maybe 3 viable passing spots this is what you get. I love Monaco but the current size of F1 cars make it one of the more predictable races in the season.
You expected entertainment from f1? Why
It’s only in the calendar for the historical significance, not because it’s an interesting race. Better to watch the highlights but all of the celebrations. Qualifying is always a good part of the weekend though.
You prefer watching geezer and mite compared to pro drivers? You like putt putt golf champions and kids basket too? We all need trophies and head pats

Very happy for Charles!
Glad to some people other than Verstappen winning in F1. Big congrats to Lecerc for winning in his home country.
LOVED IT. Completely made up for the lack of overtakes we get at Monaco
Brett ACTUALLY MADE IT through the Laguna Seca corkscrew maybe not on the first try, but still within relatively short time. Thats quite impressive actually 😄. I have a budget wheel but I only use it for truck sims, not racing sims. Unless I have a full setup with motion controls which I probably won't get anytime soon, I need that handbrake to get my turns down. I never race to win, I race to have fun improving my own times around whatever tracks I go cruising on. Sim racing is fun, and a lot more forgiving than risking an accident or other damage in real life. I appreciate how the sport of racing in general helps us to push technology forward and improve aerodynamics and efficiency.

From a simracer, Brett you did actually fantastic. You picked up on his instruction really well. Great job!

Sim racing is my absolute favourite hobby, i was very pleasantly surprised to see brett make a video about trying it out
Video Gaming Brett is back!!
This was really Cool Brett !
I love Sim Racing so seeing you and Adam get into it was awesome ..
Simracing is always hard for people who drive fast irl, not because the physics don't match, but simply because of the lack of forces you feel. I do both, and I can switch between feeling with my body or feeling with my hands and listening to the sounds. You gotta adjust. Once you've done that you can practise anything driving related in a sim rig.
I’d love to see more videos like this! Great stuff as usual.
Sim racing is my biggest hobby I'm obsessed with it, nice to see you try it!
this is something ive wanted to see for a while
This was such a fun video 😎 It's great to share these moments with you Brett, away from the work station and microphone ❤
I love how everyone is totally calm and focused at 10:03 and then there’s Brett just getting thrown around every direction and screeching
Very cool to see you giving this a try. Sim Racing has been emptying my wallet these past few months. So much fun, and also incredibly competitive.
Yay... I was just doing some sim racing in AC and saw this. Sim racing is awesome and Brett Cooper rocks so both things in one video, wow now thats someting.
Just shows how big sim racing is getting, I myself own a simagic ultimate and a dd+ and love sim racing so do much!
The problem is older guys who don't make like him they come in thinking it's a game si they don't even hold the wheel like when they drive. Look at him holding the tip of the wheel its a mental disconnect. When if he would just drive he would do fine. It's the scope of view and everything that throws them off then you get into it pretty quickly snd start relating it. But he didn't even use the braking points which are identical to the resl track. He wasn't acceleration through like he would in a real car. It doesn't make sense lol which tells me again it's a mental block he wasn't taking it seriously so he wasn't pushing seriously.
Then he starts laying on the throttle all the way turning in and just kept turning in unlike a real car. Lol
I love Brett, these things where she´s trying lots of stuff is nice to see!
Brett was such concentrated chaos in this video and I loved every second of it. The commentary and banter from all three was hilarious too.
Good stuff and it's nice to get a silly video once in a while to get away from the nonsense that is our country
Brett should do an episode on an actual track. There are several racing schools around the country, might be good content.
great video! love this "field trip" format :)
That was fun. Adam is a roar. Give the show time, it fits a successful model. It'll pick up.😊
This was the perfect video to watch during the Indy 500 rain delay today 🥰

Brett, you did much better than you think you did! This stuff takes a lot of practice, simulator or not. Sim is better because you WILL crash and then you learn from it. That looked like so much fun!

I am actually impressed with Brett's progress. Adam had surprising amount of trouble.
I have done laguna seca thousands of times on forza 4. I actually think that the last corner is the hardest to master. The corkscrew is really unnerving at first because the turn in is blind. You have to know your braking point and the turn in feels way too early, but if you miss it you will be in the sand.
Fun segment.
You have no idea how happy I am to see this video. Assetto Corsa is like my favourite game ever.
thats actually an impressive time! good job

@@Univaryy Says the one regurgitating the same replies to just about this whole comment section.
I laughed so hard during this one, being a motorsports fan myself and IMSA being at Laguna Seca a few weeks ago! 😂😂😂
What I noticed is that Brett learnt from her mistakes and the feedback she got and by the end was a lot better than when she started. The best examples being turn 2 the hairpin (Brett kept braking too late and going off into the gravel but by the end she seemed to be improving), and the infamous turn 8 Corkscrew which Brett was doing reasonably well with towards the end.
The Corkscrew is a nasty corner in sims, Top Gear did a sims vs reality segment many years ago and the Corkscrew always got Clarkson in the sim but not IRL.
That was fun! Thank you.
Thats it shes hooked now. Shes gonna go get one of them super expensive P1 racing rigs, a fire suit, gloves and helmet. 😂
No way 😂 as someone who’s always sim racing, thanks Brett!

Who ask you
brett actually got the hang of it pretty fast
It's surprising how much you can learn from these sims the physics might not be the same but the way you drive is close enough
Wasn't expecting this crossover
Very cool Brett, kudos to you for trying something completely outside of your wheelhouse. I've been teaching performance driving 30 years and to me, the simulators are more difficult to do than in a real car on the track. If you ever want to give real-world performance driving a try, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction. Keep up the great work.
The video I didn't know I needed I love sim racing, I'm glad it's getting some much-needed exposure. I mean it's just as entertaining to watch as real racing and cost a fraction of the price to participate!
