Daryl is a joke based on the Bob Newhart Show with a character named Larry that had 2 brothers named Darrell and Daryl. He would always introduce them and himself by saying, hi my name is Larry, this is my brother Darrell, and this is my other brother Daryl.

I wondered why he used that name. I could have thought of another spelling of Geoff for the now named Daryl.
I doubt that anything will come of this; however I nominated Geoff's version of Ghost Riders for a Academy of Country Music award. This was awesome. Easily his best video yet.
Geoff ain't a Country-Singer, but THIS is definitive more "Country" than anything we've heard at the CMA- oder ACM-Award-Shows over the last 10-15 years... 😀
Geoff deserves multiple awards for his videos....this one and his others as well. There really should be an award for online videos since many of them have millions of views.
I think the "Daryl" reference may be to a 1980's sitcom. Three guys walk in: "Hi, I'm Larry. This is my brother Daryl, and my other brother Daryl."
I have loved this song since I was a kid, especially The Sons Of The Pioneers version. Geoff did an amazing job, definitely among the best.

"Ghost Riders" was written and first recorded in 1948 by Stan Jones, made famous by Burl Ives one year later. Today, it had been recorded more than 300 times by artist inside and outside of Country Music. Including Johnny Cash, Christopher Lee (!), the Blues Brothers, Spiderbait and The Outlaws. :)
And Geoff's Version is among the best (as far as I know the many verious versions ;))!
Geoff killed it with this one! It rounds out my top 3 versions of this song, the other two being Johnny Cash's cover and the cover by Spiderbait from the movie Ghost Rider.

Without even looking at the many versions of "Ghost Riders in The Sky", my two favorite versions are Johnny Cash and Geoff Castellucci. Superbly great voices of the 20th and 21st centuries. 😉

Spiderbait version too man from the ghost rider movie
This song was written and performed originally by Stan Jones in 1948. It has been covered by way to many exceptional artists to even begin to count here. Some of my favorite versions are by Burl Ives (1949), Marty Robbins (1984), & Johnny Cash (1979). Spiderbait did a metal cover for the Ghost Rider movie which is very cool. Geoff definitely did it justice. But its hard to beat the Burl Ives version for the sheer etherealness of his high tenor voice on the chorus.

Song gives me some fond memories. I remember how we sing this song in music-class, we were not even mediocre singers but whole class did sing it with passion. Of course song was translated to our language.
In the Blues Brothers 2000 movie, Dan Aykroyd and John Goodman sang this song and it is definitely one of my FAVORITE versions of this song. Top 3 for sure. But great job to Geoff. Great version as well!
This song is in the second Blues Brothers movie and although the movie is somewhat ridiculous the version of Ghost Riders is really well done

I have always loved story songs. And this song is a great classic for him to do.
I remember this song from Frankie Laine way back in the early 60s. This is certainly very different. The clones, back up singers, are some of the ways reactors pronounce his name, Not sure where Daryl came from though. :) My favourite is Jeoph, with the moustache. He looks well wicked. :)
OH...so that's how he came up with those spellings - by the way his name is mispronounced? Someone above gave a hypothesis of why Geoff came up with Daryl....don't know if that's accurate though.

Of all the versions of this song, Johnny Cash, Marty Robins, and Geoff are among the best.
One of my favorite "ghost riders in the sky" versions was performed by "The Outlaws", which was released in 1980. One can definitely hear the resemblance between that version and Geoff Castellucci's version for sure:

There is a cover of this song by a group called Spiderbait. It's a more rock version that was used for the first Ghost Rider movie starring Nicholas Cage. It isn't bad actually, in my opinion. Fits the early 2000's comic book film genre quite well.

My guess would be that it's because she's been doing a "Face of Horror" Contest and has a full face paint costume. I think she shaved them off and drew others on for the Contest. Might have just forgotten to draw some more on before this reaction.
