The thing I didn't get with Sauer's arguments was that if the Senate acquits then double jeopardy applies, but if the Senate convicts it seems that double jeopardy would apply for criminal charges as well. Someone can be sued civilly for the same conduct that they were acquitted for criminally and double jeopardy does not apply (think OJ Simpson).
How is Criminal -> Civil retrial different in this way from a Impeachment -> Criminal retrial progression?

8:20 not every defendant benefits from delay. A lot of defendants are jailed leading up to trial and not given the extreme special treatment offered to Trump.

If that story is true she should be held accountable and then her replacement can refile the charges against Trump.
It really isn't that hard to want accountability for ALL wrongdoers, chief. If Willis acted inappropriately, it doesn't excuse Trump's crimes.
That has no bearing on Trump's crimes. If the allegations are true as they are stated, she deserves to be held accountable, but it has no effect on the facts of Trump's crimes.

How is the entire office compromised? Are they all in on her personal life? And why new charges? The process that got the indictments was by the book. It reminds me of Lansing Michigan years ago. Our current Governor was suddenly elevated to DA because of a scandal involving the old one when a VERY serious politically charged case was in the works. But his scandal did not change the facts in the case, or require going back to a new grand jury. At worst it seems that having gotten the indictments Fani might have used her budgetary discretion to help a boyfriend and get some perks for herself. It changes nothing about the legitimacy of the charges or the need to proceed to trial. It just means she might need a good spanking of her own.
