About bloody time that-Alton Towers are now having a tradtional Dark Ride, As Derren Brown's-Ghost Train is a Dark Ride/ Simulator
I really like the detailed sets, etc
Was disappointed they didn't mention any Animatronics for the Dark Ride!

I should of said: Duel + Hex(Madhouse), I mean they are good Dark Rides but I mean traditional DR with big/really big set pieces, Animatronics, etc immersing yourself in every scene you come too

Appreciate that AT are introducing a new ride, but I couldn’t help thinking as I watched that video just how out of date the technology is compared to what goes into some of the Disney/Universal parks. For those fortunate enough to visit some of the parks in the US, I’m sure you’ll agree that this just doesn’t cut it. Anyway hope it’s a success!
They're doing their best with the space, budget and time that they have, I think when its done its going to be a great ride! and a perfect addition to the park.
You need to remember that Universal and Disney attract millions and millions of guests every year (sometimes upwards of 10 million to each park) whereas Alton Towers only attract a little over 2 million. Therefore, they make far less money. This ride will definitely be one of the UK's top dark rides, and I'm sure it will be a huge success for the park.
Would be good using a trackless and motion base
I have been to universal studios, and yes of course they have better quality dark rides. They are a billion dollar company. Alton is not.
Alton Towers isn't Disney or Universal scale, yes they make millions but Disney and Universal are also Movie Studios

The UK parks need more of this thing if they can get the theming right. UK has awful unpredictable weather, if it has dark rides that can be used regardless of the weather they'll see more people going. Surprised Warner Bros haven't tried to create a UK indoor Harry potter ride like the one in Orlando

this ride looks so intence the air time is incredible and the theming is second to none and the inversions are insane how many are there like 20 the ride makes nemesis look like a kiddy coaster

The people being interviewed. Are the Merlin magic employees? They literally have no buzz or excitement. I miss john wardley's excitement and enthusiasm. It's like there Is no passion. The park has lost its magic I think
The main guy they interview seems very enthusiastic! even more than john at times, of course if it was john he'd put on a whole show for them! 😂
I feel that the park is still very magical. While Merlin have ruined it in some ways, it's still an incredible park with a fantastic atmosphere ;)

So it’s a slightly updated 1930’s Pretzel Ride, of the type used everywhere! Whilst it’s the theme ing that makes them, the world has moved on. Trackless dark rides are the way to go, allowing the rider a different ride experience on each ride.
Note that this new ride is a SMALL-MEDIUM Investment for the park, they do not have the budget or space for a trackless dark ride and even if they did it would be cool and all, but wouldn't increase visitor numbers just because it was trackless

If anyone has watched the film I'm guessing the ending is stritly come dancing because of the lights in the back

Yeah we brits are weird sometimes 😂
My problem with dark rides in this country is that the money and the care are not put into them. Merlin are MASSIVE in the entertainment industry and SHOULD be competing with Disney and Universal. But that being said, you don't need to put Disney level money into a dark ride to make it incredible and amazingly immersive. Look what Chessington did in the mid 90's with 'The Terror Tomb' or very early 90's with 'Professor Burps Bullbleworks". They had world class stories and themeing with Animatronics. Not projections or TV screen animating what's going on. That's lazy themeing. Unfortunately Merlin doesn't put the effort in and therefore dark rides in this country are disappointing. Anyone too young to ever ride 'The Terror Tomb' at Chessington before they lazily turned it it a light gun ride should watch the ride on TH-cam to see what's possible even on a budget in the mid 90's! Search 'The Terror Tomb Chessington'
Next time I go to Alton Towers I’m going on that ride

I was here a few days ago and the queue moved reeaaallllyy sllloowwwllyyyy. And as it was a warm day it was very uncomfortable
More dark rides and flat rides are definitely needed at Alton Towers. Hopefully this ride is just the start of a new investment push, followed by a nice welcomed announcement of SW9 within the next few years.

This does look pretty good, but I'll be sad to see cloud cuckoo land go! My favourites were always the driving school, froghopper, wobble world, and the ice age 4d experience.
Edit: I can remember the cloud cuckoo land theatre before it became ice age themed, but I cant quite remember what the show was called. 🤔
I also remember the charlie and the chocolate factory ride, it terrified me as a kid! Lol!
That Area was my childhood too!
and as sad as it is to see it go, In its last few years it was getting really tired looking and out of date, so I'm really looking forward to seeing the are bright and vibrant again!
@@DomDoesCoasters Yeah, the David walliams theming should be pretty interesting! I think they should keep the driving school and especially the theatre, as it's an iconic part of Cloud cuckoo land/cred street/land of make believe thats been there for a long time!
Also, I looked it up, the first show at the cloud cuckoo land theatre was called the Go! Go! Go! Show and it was only on for one season of 2011.
It also had Nickelodeon Outta Control which was awful :-D

The new area, including the ride will open in "spring 2020" according To Alton Towers, it could very well open with the park in a few weeks but personally I think It'll be a few weeks after the park opens that the new area opens

its not a major investment for the park, its basically just something they've done with the money from Wicker Man and to make the former Cloud ckoo ckoo land area look better

It just looks cheap and tacky, it will struggle to put up against competition, Pleasure Beach is already beginning to overtake them...
