Detailing my car gives me the feeling that I have accomplished something. That the forces of dirt and disorder have been dealt a setback and it calms me down. It's the sense of control over the outcome. Thanks so much, Larry!
I always think about how my car will get dirty anyways after a morning of detailing it, but I really don't mind anymore. The calmness and intention I feel after getting a solid clean product if only for a few hours is always worth it
Larry, two days ago I went to detail a fairly large van, complete detail and polish, and doing this properly for the first time, you have helped me so much, now I’m on my way to becoming a professional detailer❤
Whoever ordered this car was a baller, silver with red pin stripe & a red interior, OMG, just a great car brought back to life, great job as always Larry, Rj in Oz
You should start up a giant spare change jar and see how full it can get in 5 years or so with all the loose change you find in your projects. Donate it all after of course. Would be a cool conversation piece or something to see in the background slowly fill up with loose change.
Your positivity and love for cars is second to none. The way you took a 20% bargaining without blinking an eye for giving it a good home is a *testament* to that
Life has been rough for me lately, but this fresh video, vibe and pure enjoyment of bringing beautiful machines back to life just made my day! Thanks Larry!
This is an example of the argument for buying quality and not cheap crap. The interior almost cleaned up to look new again and that can be credited to high quality materials that are used in the first place. A Buick from the same era, stored in the same initial condition, for the same amount of time, would have faded six shades, cracked everywhere, come unglued and just generally fallen apart. Quality lasts. Love your channel, Larry.
Larry - only wish I had your patience! Great find, and I'm glad Axel got the car. 20+ years ago lived in Danbury. Axel always came through, especially when I was young and didn't always have the money to get things done and had to handle things myself. You have a great friend in him! Let him know he's remembered fondly by this viewer!
Nothing in my world beats spending time in my amateur detailing of any car I have owned....got the bug from my father, and the mental break from whatever else can be annoying if anything disappears.....after doing whatever I do...to just stare at the results...Larry, nice work, and immediately to a new owner that will improve it even more
Ahhh you keep saying "Upper East Side" but that is HARLEM, buddy!! I couldn't figure what the heck you were talking about in the BMW video about brake dust from an elevated train LOL Interior and paint came out way better than I expected, incredible work as usual!
Sir, it gives me joy seeing your work, I love cleaning cars, but with your passion for a clear car, no one has it. I love BMW and Porches. BTW your 911 is sick.
L-O-V-E this generation of coupe!! Your videos are near therapeutic to watch! Love seeing these great motors revived! I think the rims on this are from a later generation, but they sure cleaned up beautifully!
I've watching your videos for years now but I wanted to acknowledge the amazing soundtrack to your videos; I've added so many tracks from your videos to my Spotify playlists. Many thanks!
Another vehicle saved. The renovation looks awesome. Watching you bent over cleaning those carpets reminds me of how my back hurts after cleaning my floor mats. It would be great if there was some way to elevate them off the floor of the garage for easier cleaning and back saving.
As the owner of a similar Mercedes (1984 300sd) I have to say that this video was should restoring for me. Seeing these old Mercedes' cleaned up and given the love they deserve is very relaxing.!
This guy is great. I use his products and advice to keep my semi truck and personal vehicles looking great. Take your time and pay attention to detail. Thanks Larry
Seeing Axel’s office space gave me some major ocd triggers 🤣. Awesome video as always! Seriously one of the best channels on TH-cam. Each video is a story into solving a problem, and bringing life into something old and forgotten about!
You make music I normally would not listen to sound good. Thanks for the videos. They are a joy to watch and learn from. I can’t wait for winter to be over so I can wash my cars again.
It always inspires me to get out and get cleaning mine and the wife's car. I just wish it wasn't so damn cold! It's one of my favorite things to do and it's made so easy with the right stuff. Thanks for the awesome videos and products!
I had a 79 280slc. Same color with blue cloth interior and the factory rubber rear spoiler. Straight 6 with the Bosch fuel injection. My grandparents picked it up as a gray Market when it was new .I loved it
SLC 5.0 was a homologation rally car. Very successful. I don't like those stainless wheel arch aftermarket trims. Also prefer stock rims. Beautiful car.
These cars have always had a piece of my heart. I had to do some checking though, I had one a few years newer that also had a red interior, but I could have sworn it was more merlot than cherry. Sure enough, MB changed their colour options for the 1980s. The bright red with the pin striping really pops though! Beautiful final result-it came back to life!
Again another great job. I was excited to see that Pioneer Premiere radio in it, I had one for longest time. Was a very expensive deck back in early to mid 90's.
Hey Larry, do you ever get nervous power washing near the windows and windshield gaskets on old cars? I'm sometimes afraid it'll blow through and get inside the car especially if its dry rotted. Thanks !
Low production unicorn known as a complete and utter rust bucket. How did you ever get so lucky to find such a complete and solid example ? And I see a huge difference in the Mercedes paint after you threw some magic and sweat at it! Lol. Congratulations, another home run
My husband and I just found your channel and have watched several episodes. We were wondering where is the drain in your shop? We were thinking surely it doesn't go down in the lift area. Love your videos.
These videos are just the best, picking old cars and getting them clean and running... I hope some day I can do half of what you do, this is my life long dream and it just got bigger and bigger since 2008, so the time to act is coming 😁 All the best wishes for you Larry and I hope maybe some day we can meet in a random car meet and exchange detailing secrets 🤫
That diffuser is awesome on those nasty rugs. Amazing how much the carpets bounced back. The interior in general looks like it came out of another car. Well done Larry!
Love the piano music during the mat cleaning. It sounded like something from Only Murders in the Building. Never seen a third brake light like that on an SL/SLC. Must have been a State specific requirement for that model year.
Question. I dont remember if you ever went over how you deal with little rust spots like the ones on the edge of the trunk of this car. What do you do with them?
Greatings from Portugal, Larry!!! :) Once again, its absolutely delicious to see your detailing jobs and "extras", as come to deal with the injectors in this episode. I'm following your channel since 7 or 8 years ago, and now its my first post... :) Here it goes teh question... Are you still working with clay bars? or not? Not seing you in the last series of recoverys with old cars, full of dirt and so on... I Know that clay is a bit "agressive" to paint, to the clear coat, but... As a bike detailer, I'm wondering... Soft paint, not many layers, single stage... it varies a lot... Right? Cheers Larry and the full team of behind the scenes :) May the "power of polishes" be with you :D Have a nice day!!!
The best thing I’ve found to remove stubborn adhesive is Ronsonol lighter fluid. It evaporates and not oily, so it won’t stain like some solvents or household adhesive removers.
Larry, I gotta ask. Have you ever done a flip that didn't work out the way you envisioned? I ask because my first flip (last year) is turning out bad. The interior was like a homicide scene but I cleaned it up beautifully. The engine on the other hand...I think it may be seized. Waiting on a mechanic buddy to come give me a hand. What would you do if you find out your flip is a flop?
@@geoffreylippold thanks. I figured as much. My issue is I don't have the logistics needed to part out a vehicle. I'm still running ideas through my head.
There is something so refined about the SLC 450. My friends Dad had one in highschool. She actually snuck it out and drove me home one night. I felt so cool in that car.
Idk maybe it's because I had an old 89 ford thunderbird turbo coupe with red interior but I love me some old red interior. Side note. What CANT vinegar do lol axels the man too.
Astonishing job on this one, Larry! As usual. Love the matching woodgrain remote and faceplate on the very uncommon mid 1990s Pioneer KEH series radio (I have a few non woodgrain models).
This interior color fits so freaking good and looks amazing after getting cleaned. Always great to see how you spending your time and love to those classic cars Larry. Glad to know your channel. I am a very huge Mercedes-Benz fan. Keep doing what you doing Larry ❤
Hey Larry this forum is outstanding..I love watching you work on these cars and bring them back to life. You are definitely an artist at car detailing. I have a question...in this video you stated you purchased both this Sl and the classic beamer for 5 Grand???? What gives.... you can't touch these sl's under 13 grand in the condition you found it. Is it just knowing people or do they give you special deals ? Also the price you sold it for was a bargain in a half...👍
Axel is a real gem. Love any video that he's in. Another terrific video as always, Larry!
Indeed! Always learn something cool from him :)
Why cause he refuses to clean the outsides of injectors and considers that detail work? Or is it his messy desk ..lol
Axel needs his own channel! What does he do with all these cars!
Detailing my car gives me the feeling that I have accomplished something. That the forces of dirt and disorder have been dealt a setback and it calms me down. It's the sense of control over the outcome. Thanks so much, Larry!

Well said! Here too. Welcome distraction from the other disorder these days.
@@javierreyes786 Yes, I'm the guy that cleans the car I'm about to drive even if it's just to the store or wherever and back...😊
Yeah I have my car a nice bath including the wheel wells and so much mud and dirt came out but it made me happy I did it
The American bumpers ruin every car. Whoever get's it must replace them.
I was thinking the same thing
Thinking the same thing. Beautiful car but the BUMPERS 😩
The wheels also look out of place.
That was the desirable look of the time. Don’t get a vintage car if you have modern tastes lol or YOU will be the one ruining it doing that.
I was boutta say the same thing. Their laws butchered our beautiful cars 😅

Awesome, keep it up!
@@AMMO-NYC thank you so much, I absolutely love my job, I will always mention you to my boss
Hands down my favourite type of your videos. Acquire/Clean/Flip
I freaking love how the interior of axel's office looks, its cluttered as hell but I bet you he know's exactly where he put everything
organised chaos
Yeah gave serious hoarder vibes. But i know the minute he throws away something, he will find a use for it. Love when he is in the videos!
I cringed at it, but my preference is for things to be tidy.
He’s probably a hoarder. I’ll pass thanks

axel is a fantastic guy. he gives insight on the problem and educates us. i love him.
