US style lowboy with jeep and booster "Trailer Tr4 MkII 8258" build with LEGO®

- Model "Trailer Tr4 MkII 8258” and both models included in ”Trailer Tr4 MkII 8258 Add1”, the jeep and the booster, are build with LEGO® in scale 1:17,5 and motorized using LEGO® Power Functions. It is not build after a specific brand or type of trailer. This build represents a three axle detachable gooseneck lowboy trailer with liftable third axle and the additional two axle jeep and a two axle booster.

This specific version of "Trailer Tr4 MkII” fits and works perfect with LEGO® Technic set 8258 Crane Truck. This LEGO® Technic set 8258 Crane Truck needs to be slightly modified. Free instructions on how to modify your set are available!
The lowboy trailer features: solid axle suspension on all axles, one set of lights, kingpin, mechanical parking brake, gooseneck frame support, remotely controlled liftable third axle, remotely lowering and lifting of the deck and this model has many details.
The jeep and booster features: solid axle suspension on all axles, one set of lights, the jeep has both a kingpin and fully functional fifth wheel and both have manually operated landing gears.
Different states, different regulations! Depending on the combinations overall weight, so the total weight of the truck, the trailer and the load, more axles might be required. Adding axles however is not that easy, it's not that you go to your local dealership and ask them to add an extra axle to your truck and trailer.

I am from the homeland of LEGO, Denmark, and I have just started my interest of Lego Technics - last time I touched Lego it was Lego Space from the 80ths of wich I have tons at my attic. Well, no I haven't actually build any of the self engineered models yet - I was just recently inspired by your work. The one I am looking into is your low boy with jeep and booster. But I am still not sure how you guys get alle the bricks needed - since I can't build this stuff out of my old Space Lego from the 80'th of wich I have tons ;) So I need to buy the bricks. And if I click on the providers that picks them according to your charts, then something like 160 bricks are always missing, and I'm not sure how to get around this? But maybe I'll take it easy and have a chat with you face to face in February :-)

In February you can look them up close. Maybe we can even agree on which one you would love to build...
About the missing parts, that is the challenge when building LEGO models. Most parts are very easy to get and some aren't. Knowing your way makes it possible to get them after all...
Engineering and treasure hunting at the same time doesn't seem to make it less intriguing :D Looking forward to see you in Feb. for more inspiration and tips & tricks! Have a great Christmas Ingmar. I know what I'll be asking Santa for this year :-)

Well that kind of depends. The cheapest is to collect all the parts yourself from different locations. There is no store or what so ever that supplies all the parts needed at once.
At the moment I am gathering the parts for a customer and charged him Euro 670 for the lowboy trailer parts alone. If you would collect the parts yourself as I suggested above you might be able to save Euro 150 to 200. Don't forget this asks quite some of your spare time to achieve :-)
So another couple of hundred for the Mack Granite's parts pack, so you can do the math yourself.

Hi, thanks for your message. Basically there are 4 major steps for you to take but not necessarily in this order:
1) Obtain building instructions for both the lowboy trailer "Trailer Tr4 MkII 8258” and ”Trailer Tr4 MkII 8258 Add1” jeep and the booster. Links to these instructions are provided in the description of this video. Also can you find there links to a better model description.
2) Start sourcing the parts required to build both models "Trailer Tr4 MkII 8258” and ”Trailer Tr4 MkII 8258 Add1”. Parts lists are available all you need to do is get familiar with how and where to buy parts.
3) With the building instructions and parts at hand you could start building these amazing models. My advice would be not to hurry the build. Pay close attention to what’s in the building instructions, it is easy to miss some important information and most of all enjoy the build.
4) Get your hands on LEGO® Technic set 8258 Crane Truck. New if available, but you might search the web for a decent second hand instead. This truck needs little modification to fit the lowboy trailer with jeep and the booster. For this there is another building instructions available it is for free.

Hi, I understand your situation. Luckily these days no credit card is required to get a paypal account. I don't use ebay or anything like that because building instructions are often stolen these days. I do want to protect my stuff...that's why... :-)

im building this trailer now with the jeep and booster too, you can find bulk deals for % of parts on brickowl, dont even think about tying to look here in the states for this stuff, everything comes from over the pond. the booster and jeep kit i found was about 81% complete for $121, rest of the parts costed around $200 and the plans $21 just have to take the time to sort everything out

It is indeed fun to collect the parts and good to know that you like what I build with LEGO®. You think the instructions are wel layer out, good to know! A lot of effort is put into and knowing it is noticeable is rewarding!
You already have a 8258 set? No I have no conversion instructions for the 8258. What I do have is the instructions how to give it a fifth wheel to couple the trailer easily. There are quite some people who actually converted there 8258, so I think searching the web would be the best thing to do...

At the begining that was cool, now that was a bit boring, plus the seeling at very high price for only the trailer. Have you any plan to build something else than trailer ? D'ont be upset, I like your creations, they are good, but a little bit always the same. Bye !

Ingmar Spijkhoven , wow tbh I did not expect you to respond , but this is true , I'm going to go through my box of random legos and see if I can replicate one close to yours , how long will you have the instructions up for sale? Maybe in a year or so I'll look back into it. But you do make some nice designs , keep up the good work!
