hello
Those new gearbox pieces are about a 1:1 replica of a real motorcycle constant mesh sequential gearbox parts. The blue parts called shift drums, they drive the orange shift forks which are then connected to dog gears to interconnect with the slotted gears. Exactly like real ones.
I love the new gearbox bits, those alone are tempting enough to consider the set, even though i dont really like naked bikes, and i think these 1:5 scale bikes look a tad odd so far. The AR app really cracked me up with the "crossplane crankshaft" note, since all lego ever do is single plane, and incorrect ones at that.
Im extremely excited to see what next years hypercar can do with these new gearbox bits.
I agree. Quite expensive, though.
SUPER impressed with this build! Love the way the frame comes together in bag 1 and then the whole engine/gearbox assembly is constructed and mounted into the frame. Just awesome. Can't wait!

💜💙🖤💙💜
I love how complex the build is!
Végül köszi szépen a magyar feliratot is!
Üdv, Unoka!
Kudos on that gearbox with those selector drums and forks.
Those blue wheels wouldn’t look bad on the BMW bike. Specially in combination with the gold shocks.
Oh and those yellow/gold-ish shocks, they must resemble Öhlins.
The new gearbox parts make me wish I was a MOC creator, I would love trying to squeeze everything possible out of the new pieces. Unfortunately, though, I tend to be someone who just sticks to the sets as they are supposed to be, and I am satiated on Technic motorcycles at the moment. Still, I can't wait to see how these pieces are used in future sets and others' MOCs!
Can't wait to put this together.
Super cool set!! Love the new gearbox parts!
As a motorcycle rider myself, that is nice. The shift mechanism is great. It looks like it shifts a lot smother than the BMW. I'd like to add that to my bike collection. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.
Realy nice set! The new parts are so cool! Nice review as allways! I watch your channel from the very begining.
Wow, new gearbox pieces, let's goo!
This is a must set for me. Will sit nice with all the other bike sets i have.
the big 4x8 inverted tile piece has been released in a few new sets and I think the first time it was pointed out was in the recent UCS X-wing, the black one in this video also exists in a new beach party-themed friends set
Having seen the building process, I like it even better! I love this new 1:5 motorcycle series and each new model will likely only get better, both technically and aesthetically, so I’m sure we’re in for nice treats the coming years. As always, wait for those special days where you can get discounts up to 35 or even 40 percent, and you’ll have a great building experience on your hands I’m sure.
as a Yamaha MT-07 owner im excited to see the MT-10 getting into LEGO! Im definately gonna buy it.
I LOVE the headlights
15.6 cents per piece is just insane for a set without any alternative builds, motors or electronics. It even costs the same with the BMW motorbike with 500 more pieces, itself hardly a bargain too. Lego has really gone off the deep end with their greed. And the absurd color vomit makes it look more like a Duplo set than a 18+ set. Hard pass from me, and it's a pity because that gearbox looks interesting even though it's azure, green, orange and yellow.
Yeah the price of Lego drove me away ages ago I used to love them, now I build model cars and rebuild engines for fun
ill end up just bricklinking the new peices
Half the pieces are pins with technic
Not sure it's a "hard pass" for me.. might get it. But I will probably wait for a sale or something.. 240 bucks is very pricey for what it is and will be; an immobile dust collecting monolith. Especially compared to the BMW, that can be found for 180 bucks or less these days, with 500 more parts. This set should not have been more than 199.99 new.
The new gearbox elements aren't enough to justify anything more than that. Same for the wheels/suspension, as clearly they aren't "one time" parts and will be used in many future set... Also the AR shouldn't increase the price, as it is just a gimmick.. AND it doesn't even come with a spec sheet like the BMW.. or a paddock stand..
@@PilotPhtevenit doesnt come with a spec sheet because of the AR and doesnt have a paddock stand because it got a kick stand 🤦
4:44 thank you for that, I was thinking I did something wrong 😂
Finally LEGO made pieces for a transmission that actually look like they are designed for a transmission.
Its a good thing that Lego create different size of clutchable gears.
Like a real manual gearbox, with forks to clutch the gear. A real gearbox has a synchronizing gear, here it is the grey ring who make the job.
Old gearbox needed an extra shaft to reduction and lot of friction.
3 different gears, we just need 2 more and it will be just perfect.
Finally.Set that it has the real building steps as in the real motorcycle.
Wow, tye new gearbox parts are amazing! It's interesting to see them return to a 2l driving ring, but improved for less slack.
The sliding forks make this VERY similar to real gearboxes, I wonder what kinds of gearboxes in cars can be made in the future.
And also, the bike looks cool.
Yeah, with A LOT OF clutch gears now it we really can build 4-5-6-7-8 steps gearbox in way limited size!
As an owner of a '23 MT-10 i simply MUST have it, it's so cool!
Seeing the building process changes between the BMW bike and this one is really interesting! Love the fact that the air intake grill behind the front wheel is much more secure than on the BMW, I always had troubles with it popping off. Interesting that it has the engine built in phase 2, excited for the new parts! I wonder how difficult it'll be to convert the engine in the BMW to use the new parts...
It's a radiator
it's beautiful.
Finally! A realistic sequential gearbox!!!!!
The new gear boxes I hope will be more available in small scale builds and sets
This Yamaha bike is the most magnificent set Lego has ever produced !! imho
It's really beautiful, huge, practical, cool and all.
I'm not into motorcycles at all but the new gearbox parts finally look like real gearbox parts
I would have liked to see new parts to make a Crossplane crank. It's an important selling point of the original bike, it's mentioned in the AR, but it's not there in the model.
The piece for the plaque was introduced in the ucs x wing
Oh it‘s nice. But it‘s too expensive
You've gotta be kidding me 1400 pieces for $240 c'mon the Ford was 1400 pieces and it wad $120.
Edit : Dang this is the most likes i have ever had
Depends entirely on what the pieces are. Are those 1400 pieces mostly beams and pins or plates and other larger or more complex pieces? Different geometries need different manufacturing processes, including different molds and and sometimes very complex molds. Supply/demand for each part also greatly affect the price. The set design/licensing process may also have been more complicated, leading to a more expensive set. Using piece count alone to compare prices is a terrible metric.
@@ernestuy7128it annoys me when people don’t understand the back end of things. Though I can understand the frustration a little bit
@@ernestuy7128 yeah but please don't talk about lego production like if it's a sort handcraft making
@@ernestuy7128lego takes that into account with the price of sets but they know they charge twice the price of manufacturing/handling.
and in Canada, the lego bmw bike costs less (just by 10$, but still) and has more pieces than this one (1921 vs 1478), LEGO and their business model, find the error and in Hungary, this bike costs less (94000 Ft vs 104000 Ft).
Absolutely stunning price
0:33 Yes it does, it has the side mirrors.
i realy enjoyed building the BMW but found the gearbox a bit flumsy. looking forward buidling this Yamaha. I realy like these scale bike models. And i'm not a bike freak but i like these more then the cars
Price is absolutely crazy imo, I bought the BMW bike at launch for €200 (250 now) and it has 500 more pieces than this? Why are they charging so much is it the licence?
Thank you for the review. I would have the same critique I had for the BMW... You can't see any mechanical part working. In the end it just becomes a very expensive toy that you had to assemble yourself, something to display, rather than play. Not much to enjoy on the technic side once you build it.
A very colorful gearbox 😂
Since I don’t see anyone that pointed that out: the “indicator” is not an indicator at all, thus why it’s covered. Its main purpose is simply to allow for only 4 positions of the gearbox. It “stops” you from shifting when it’s at either end
I’m surprised when it comes to the colouring… didn’t expect that
Not a fan of the new gearbox pieces until I see them working with the old manual changeover catch. Especially those new wave shifters are way too huge and it doesn't help that they come in such a gaudy color.
Also, I've said it before and I won't stop saying it: a model where you need an AR app on your smartphone to look at how the mechanism(s) work does not deserve to carry the "Technic" banner.
Is it posible to spwap nutral and first gear
Why? Real bikes all have neutral between 1&2.
@@MrAmorti you are right but i prefer sequential shifting
I like Lego technic motorcycle very much too.
About time Lego finally managed to put the front tyre correctly on their bike🎉😅
The new pieces are exciting but is using an axle to push the stepper (yellow) gear good enough? I'm wondering if they could have added a better piece for that too... A bit unfortunate you have to use the app to see a virtual version of the mecanism, or even the model's documentation, not sure how long this app will be maintained... Nice review!
The parts for driving the switching of gears look a bit over complicated, I envisioned this kind of part to use existing worm gears, but I guess matching the travel length and making it easy to assemble was a bigger priority here.
Thank you for your review, high quality as ever.
I hope this model is the start of a new trend that I would really welcome: A proper chassis with a whole gearbox and engine subassembly, like in the real world. Along with the new gearbox parts, this set comes as close to the real thing as nothing before.
To all potential customers: Please, please, please buy this to show them that this level of effort gets apprechiated.
this has the AR feature i had thought the BMW should have had.
I'm so excited for the Audi RS E Tron I,m going to have the Audi RS E Tron
I'm in awe with the new parts
This Yamaha gearbox system are way more stable & mature than BMW. Big thumbs up for designer.
Wish they made the older MT-10 aswel. 🙏🙏
I just bought one of these, managed to get one for $279.99 AUD
Looking forward to building it
This looks beefy and imposing, i like it a lot!
I'm really waiting for a 1:5 cross bike.
Great review. I might have messed up something, but when changing the gearbox from neutral to any other stage and turning the wheels on the lego stand support, the engine makes crippling sound, and also the chain part stutters. The same happened to me with the BMW set.
From my experience, slightly lifting the front of the set seems to decrease the stuttering.
Also it doesn't happen when rolling the set on ground.
Did anyone notice this kind of deviation?
I’m a motorcyclist and love the 1:5 BMW being a sports bike rider. I don’t find this model very appealing unfortunately either the real or Lego version. Would have preferred the R nine T as a naked Lego version but glad to see more of these large scale motorcycles well done Lego
I hope Lego will make more sportbikes.
Looks like lego's starting to make motorcycles now. Hehe... If yes, i'm really hoping for a Ninja H2 or a new, big wheel version of the Panigale V4R. And if not that, then at least a dirtbike like the Crf 450, Klx 450 etc.
Out of all the more realistic bike sets which one is the best
Damn…. Another must have….😂
Love the technical parts and new pieces! A shame it's THAT expensive...
3:47 How do you align the blue gear same line with letter F and G same as manual? Are you able to follow or align the gear because I can't do that. Need help
im not a motorcycle fan, but it looking amazing
if they did the Honda NM 01 then I might consider buying it
I'm glad Lego is finally starting to make proper gearbox selectors, but I don't like the design of these specifically. Having what's essentially the old design with an intermediary portion just doesn't feel right to me, it feels lacking, especially with the space the new assembly requires. Personally I'd rather see a slightly longer shaft with discrete steps along it, and also a way to limit steps so that if you have an atypical design that requires a certain amount of steps between two clutch gears it's still fully possible with the same parts. However I do recognize that this design does have some flexibility in use when multiple selectors are stacked and clocked differently, but I also think this is a very specific range of use compared to a more proper part that just let's you have more selector positions along a longer shaft. I also wonder about the longevity of the new yellow cogs, the way this set uses them also doesn't really feel correct either, having a beam to lock one in place when a ball joint could've sufficed, having an axle push-rod also seems a bit odd. I'd be curious to see how these new parts are motorized in the future, I'm assuming Lego has an interesting implementation. For example on my complains about the new selectors not having discrete stops, etc., at one time I had a design of the old style of selector (the red ones) in combination with a geared auto-reversing linear actuator, this setup allowed for the driveshaft to be extended linearly which allowed for horizontal tessellation of clutch gears to allow for an automated sequential switch of a very large number of gears; of course this assembly was large on its own, but it also demonstrates the fact that selectors shouldn't be so inherently limited, and especially not when you want to expand beyond four or eight (which in the new selector's case is still 4 but with an intermediary pause) selections, technically even odd-numbered selections were possible thanks to the newer 3L axle connectors in combination with the older 2L ones while using the old 2L selectors. If the previous could ever be miniaturized in any way, which would be difficult and would rely on custom parts if not having it fully motorized with multiple motors switching inputs instead of being fully mechanical with a singular overall input method, then I'd prefer that over what Lego is currently doing; I just think Lego's system, while simplistic, is also inherently heavily limited in usability, at least in sequential uses, as fully selectable uses (such as an H pattern box) are a much more complex issue that really isn't possible anymore with the current system not having a proper slider like the old red selectors were.
I also wonder if any MOC creators have any plans of taking a couple of these and making a Yamaha Niken. The coloration is mostly correct, the branding is mostly correct, I'm sure paneling is adaptable, the major hurdle is the leaning mechanism and its cowl.
Do you think this gearbox will hold up under torque of a heavy model, say a tracked vehicle? I am interested in testing it but the price is a bit high since you need two for a tracked version.
I have the BMW motorcycle myself and I perfer that to the Yamaha bike....keep up the good work my man.
I agree, the bmw just looks so much cooler
So maybe 16-speed gearbox in 1:8 supercar next year?
I like the design, but the price is just insane. I like this bike category, but I really hope they make a harley-davidson someday.
been supporting your account since 30k, just didnt have an account so i couldnt sub Iol anyways thanks for the great content, youve saved me a few hundred
These days your videos feel a bit rushed i.e., you could have expressed how do you see/feel the new gearbox setup with all those new parts. A comparison to BMW or all the previous transmission systems could have been helpful with a few more words. As much as I like your detailed build narration I also miss the past slow paced text only videos. You talk to us moar it helps all of us undertsand the set better.
This is a 12+ minute video where I literally don't stop talking about the details, I'm not sure how could I squeeze in more information. Creating such a detailed building review video takes days, compared to a speed build that everyone else does and literally takes zero extra effort to film the building process. I could of course add more comparisons, talk about my views and stuff, but that'd be a 20 minute video that I'm not sure more people would watch, and would take my time away even more from creating other videos.
Btw, if you prefer a review with text only then Sariel is still doing his reviews, you have great content over there.
@@RacingBrick who asked you to do a 20 minutes long video? It's been prolly 7/8 years we watch your videos. And both reviewers (Sariel and you) have their own specialties. iirc you did not even have to prepare 20+ minute videos to tell a bit more in any of your previous videos. LOL, I just pointed out telling a bit more would help all of us a little more and that's that. Chill 😆
I would have watched (and preferred) the 20-min. video. :)
@@CyanideTipped same from me. No problem with a bit long videos. Lego don't release every set evolutionary. Talking a bit more for those ones would always be appreciated
@@reza42145 so no one asked me to do a 20 minute video but you'd prefer that one, ok :) I'm totally chill by the way, just tried to point out how much extra effort would be required from my side to add everyone's favorite extra topic, comparison and whoever knows what piece of information. Making the video in this format already takes days, and would be even more if I made all of them longer. I need to find a balance, otherwise I would have 2-3 videos per month. And no, TH-cam does not pay enough to compensate the missing views in that case so I won't go that way, sorry.
Yeah
May be picking it up in a good sale. I'm still not sure I like it, though looks abit better close up than the pictures 😂
I just have one important question…..what’s to become of the orange wave selector!?!?!
The last time that 40 tooth gear appeared in a non-bike Technic set was 2004, some random information that I found out.
Mable they can make it a half click for neutral.
Do you think i shiuld get the bmw or this
Overall the set looks great. I own a Yamaha R1, so I'm rather biased. Wish this would have been a R1 rather than a MT-10. Maybe someone will create a moc of it.
You aren't the only one
Id like to see lego do a gen1 hayabusa
Is there a point where you can input a lego motor? Not to drive around, just to sit behind the stand o something and drive the gearbox. Would be nice to be able to shift gears and actually see the ratios at work, rather than spinning the wheel.
Bmw motorbike has a georbox flaw that causes to gearbox can stuck and you cannot change gears. I hope this new parts will fix this issue.
❤
As I expected, Yamaha license is too expensive... not a surprise...
It’s alright I think
Watching this has shown me I’ve got Technic ptsd 👹
Now seeing it in OFFICIAL pictures I think it's more successful than the BMW in looking like the act model plus it has better functions, looks more accurate, is cheaper and has greater challenge. Maybe it's my bias as do I like the New MT-07 but I think the set looks great I'd get this but it's still a bit pricey I mostly buy the £109 priced Cars I wish LEGO Went back to the Ducati Pinigale V4 scale as more bikes within that size would be preferable At £70 or have the BMW size bike line be £170.
Edit i Thought this was the MT-07 didn't know it was the MT-10 LOL
I dont know if I saw correct but the engine is not moving as a BIG BANG. Can you confirm?
Can you please tell me what are the parts numbers and design numbers for the new Lego gears?
You can find them in the instructions - www.lego.com/en-us/service/buildinginstructions/42159
I've been contemplating lubricating my gears for quite a long time, but i'm too worried about chemical reactions with the ABS and the tendency for lubricants to Get clogged up with dust and debris.
Does anybody have a suggestion for the best lubricant To use on these plastic gears?
Something that won't react chemically and stays relatively clean?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You could try mineral oil
So what other models can you make with this set? For that money I’d like to be able to make more than just one model.
Check rebrickable.com
Why is neutral between 1st and 2nd gear?
Please 42146
I'm going to keep saying it, we need access to clear technic pieces so that we can swap out parts for display. What's the point in putting in all the effort for the gearbox if it's all covered?
Great idea
May i know sir if how many hours you built this Lego?
I don't measure building time as I'm filming and taking notes meanwhile
Is it as wobbly as the BMW? That was my biggest disappointment with that set. If you try to 'drive' it on the table the frame and forks are like jelly.
I like the new shifter elements, way more realistic (I've rebuilt motorbike engines ;- )
The set would be very nice, but the colors of the panels just dont do the original justice. And concerning the pricing, we germans would say: "Die haben doch Lack gesoffen" (aka they drunk paint). The price is ludacrious for 1500 parts
