    Sorry, but while the specs are good (would have preferred AMD+Linux like the Steam Deck though), the price is utterly insane for UK users at least: £1,149 (almost $1,600). This is over 3 times the price I'll be paying for the Steam Deck, so this will be a very niche, low-selling product IMHO. About the only thing this had that I wish the Steam Deck had was a fingerprint reader. Also, the screen res at 2560x1600 is typically what you see on 10" tablets with large batteries - I think thay should have used a 1080p 8.4" screen myself, which would have been easier to drive a native res and use less battery.

      Valves always tried to make PC gaming mainstream the steam controller for the steam machines failed the steam link was somewhat successful and now they are making an effort for everyone to be able to have a base level experience that's affordable. This will help quite a bit with making the market more accessable and less of a niche. And also I would never pay 800 or higher for a handheld just because it's a unique hand-held design. The biggest problem I've seen with these machines is that they don't have the hardware to fully take advantage of their features. What's the difference between me literally having a PC at home and using steam link or splashtop or moonlight.

      Also the ONEX Player 1S is a lot more expensive, probably will thermal throttle a lot, probably be very loud, and the battery life is likely to be crap. It's also hard to make a quality mobile device so long-term reliability could be questionable; Valve is far more likely to pull that off. The 1S has a much, much higher resolution but that's going to factor into battery life (depending on battery capacity).

    • @madmatt2024
      @madmatt2024 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Something must be wrong with yours because there is NO WAY that it can't run A Hat in Time or Spyro Reignited when it clearly runs Witcher 3, Forza Horizon 4, and Doom Eternal at over 60FPS, all of which are more demanding. Though personally, I would still go with the Steam Deck or another AMD based handheld if I wanted one.

    The 1195 is not enough of an upgrade from the 1165. It just seems like it because Intel is dropping some of the most compelling driver updates over the last month. Even with this last update, i have not once used turbo on my 1165 and all emulation is upscaled to crispness and running at 60fps. Its insane. Again... No turbo and getting 4 hours battery life. And this is on an 1165.

      @@mightythistle Yep. There are not enough advantages with the 1195g7 for it to be a worthy upgrade. The gpu is pretty much the same with only a slight increase in mhz. If you already own the 1165, stay still till they offer a build with a discrete gpu in it. Like the nvidia mx450 or the mobile rtx2080 max-q. One netbook screwed over the 1165 owners by offering the 1195 before their shipments even arrived- and at the exact same pricepoint. That was their core audience too. They dont even offer motherboard upgrades like GPD does.

I’m confident that playing nearly everything 720p/800p will at least hit 30fps , and that for a portable laptop powered hand held is amazing. It could even be my main PC if I dock it to the razer chroma egpu. Much more practical than a gaming laptop on the go for travel or hotel stays.

    I know it's not the same thing but the point on all of those random portable PC gaming consoles is the less expensive material they get the pricier they seem to be FFS...
    It's like hey do you see our 1000€ device with 1KG of pure copper just for cooling? And the 2nd goes hey and you see our 500gr of copper cooling device it cost 1500€ because size matters and the less material we use we increase the price and the suckers will buy it :)
