    I remember this game well, but watching from the Celtics broadcast. Antoine Walker was certainly NOT overrated that season! That was definitely the best season of Antoine Walker's career by far, he was still slim and agile, fantastic ballhandling for a man his size and there wasn't a shot he was afraid to take. The guy was a lot of fun to watch, and yes could be frustrating to watch at times too. Michael Jordan wouldn't have scrimmaged with Antoine Walker as much as he did if Walker was truly a bum like people made him out to be. He was playing with full confidence that 2002 season but I think he let too many naysayers get into his head in the seasons after about shooting too many 3s. He was a good player in Atlanta actually, but nobody really got to see it.

      The Celts made it to the ECF that year before losing to New Jersey

    • @TRJ2241987
      @TRJ2241987 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still one of the biggest letdowns of my sports life. Going up 2-1 in the series with the biggest comeback in playoff history, and then not able to capitalize from that point on. Going from being a lottery team all the way to the ECF in one season was a hell of a ride though. Antoine Walker & Gary Payton's final game with the Celtics (2005 Game 7 vs Pacers @ Boston) was another huge letdown on the heels of an incredible Celtics comeback (Game 6 @ Indiana, Pierce ejected for shoving Jamaal Tinsley to the ground, Kendrick Perkins bricks the game winning free throws, then Antoine Walker took the game on his shoulders and saved the team in Overtime after a brutal 1st half)

    explosive and fast
    this guy only averaged 20 plus a game 4 times in his career. Great example of how much harder it was to score in that era.

    it was december 2001, the day after jeff van gundy resigned. sprewell missed one of two free throws that could have gotten him an even 50 late in the game. antoine walker made the game-tying three to force overtime, and the knicks eventually lost.

      Very talented player. Perhaps a historically underrated player. A terrific competitor on both ends of the court. A multiple time all star. With all that said, I don’t think he was quite a Hall of Famer. The standard for getting into the Hall of Fame is way too low IMO. So certain guys have made it into the Hall of Fame that quite frankly I think Sprewell was probably better than. But honestly I think Sprewell was a really, really good player and a star, but not a superstar.

      @@chrisisslick Sprewell and Melo are 2 of my all time favorite players. Sprewell was very underated for the era he played in. Lots of low scoring games in the playoffs with teams playing hard defense. If Ewing was in his prime I think the Knicks win a championship with him and Houston. When he first came into the league with Golden State he was more in a uptemo offense which fit his game more in my opinion so he had to adjust with the knicks. Than you have melo who is who is among one of the best purest scorers in history. Crazy he never one an MVP but that just shows you how much talent is in the NBA.

    Man. I want Latrell Sprewell to coach the Knicks, man. Fire Phil Jackson, Jeff Hornacek, Kurt Rambis, and get rid of all those bum players and send them back to L.A to the Lakers. Have Jeff Van Gundy be the Knicks President of Basketball Operations replacing Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson doesn't know what the fuck he's doing. He's like 70 years old, he should go back to L.A because all he's doing is fucking the New York Knicks organization up. Praising his old team, the Los Angeles Lakers. And for the last four seasons, the Lakers have had a worst record than the Knicks. To make the New York Knicks great again, I want Latrell Sprewell to be head coach, his assistants and staff, Allan Houston, Mark Jackson, Kurt Thomas, Marcus Camby, and Larry Johnson. Get rid of mostly the white players like Vujacic, Kuzminskas, Plumlee, and Baker. But keep one, and that's Porzingis. Get some veterans and young guys and a Japanese cat and have the New York Knicks get black players. Bring Ghetto Ball back to N.Y. And go choke people literally like a brutal basketbrawl, especially people such as Lebron James and Kevin Durant. Have the Knicks play like a bunch of thugs. And I don't know what to do with Carmelo Anthony if the head coach of the Knicks is Latrell Sprewell. Spree would show Melo either the door to take his talents to Cleveland and suck Lebron's dick or play Thug Ball from both sides of the court. Offensively and defensively. And Melo should let his braids grow back.
