Moana is based on polynesian culture and people like the maori of newzealand, samoa , tonga , Hawaii , tahiti etc. And polynesians were voyagers and that's how our ancestors discovered different islands and spread across the sea on different islands
I love this movie! It’s based on a mix of polynesian cultures and myths (mainly Samoa, Tonga, Tokelau, New Zealand, Tahiti and Hawaii, I believe!) Maui is a common mythical figure in many polynesian cultures: he was fishing with his older brothers one time and pulled a huge fish out of the water, which became the North Island of New Zealand! (Also, his brothers immediately started eating the fish and cutting big pieces out of it, which is why it’s so mountainous and hilly now) And the canoe they used to go fishing became the South Island of New Zealand. He also brought humans fire from his Grandmother’s burning fingernails, he lassoed the sun to make it slow down and make the days longer so humans could farm/hunt for more hours in the day, etc (basically everything he bragged about in “you’re welcome”, and more). He’s a really famous mythological figure. Obviously this movie isn’t quite historically accurate, but there is actually a period in Polynesian history called the “Long Pause”, which is still somewhat of a mystery. Basically, people started voyaging and settling on the pacific islands around 3-4000 years ago (most likely starting from Taiwan and island hopping, making their way south east), but around 500BCE, they stopped voyaging for about 1000 years before starting again, and no one fully knows why. So this is one possible explanation I guess? :) I love Polynesian history, and I’m so happy this movie made more people curious to learn more and research. It’s really not well known enough in most places around the world, even though Polynesia was at one point considered the world’s largest empire (because it spanned almost the entire Pacific ocean, with people on each island still keeping in touch and their languages mutually intelligible, travelling back and forth across thousands of kilometres. So so cool and impressive. Sorry for the essay haha, just wanted to share
FUN when you learn that in polinesian mithologhy Maui was abbandoned by his parents because he was ugly. And even while he was helping humans to build and improve their colture and lifestyle they Stil hated him because of his face
Omg hey! On the topic of other recommendations,,, I also haven't seen all of the recent ones. Coco is really amazing. But it could also be fun to see a reaction to an older Disney movie if you find one that you haven't watched yet. (And it'd probably get you some nostalgia views lol)
"Old" Disney movies I personally love, that would be fun to watch with you: Robin Hood, Winnie the Pooh (the oldest one from 1977, so underrated imo) The Sword in the Stone, Mary Poppins (even though Dick van Dyke's English accent was,,, questionable lol) and Atlantis (my fav Disney movie).
No. Moana's father is Jango Fett and his clones from the _Star Wars_ prequels, and the adult Boba Fett. That's Temuera Morrison. Korg is Taika Waititi, another Māori actor and director. He wrote the first script for this movie, though apparently pretty much nothing was left of it by the time it got to production. He's also one of the creators of the _What We Do in the Shadows_ franchise, along with Jemaine Clement who voiced Tamatoa the crab in this movie.
Aww. I stopped the vid because even though your about to watch the best Disney movie. But. Aww its ok. Don't worry....as a suicide survivor it really is ok

COCO and Luca I can't wait to see your reaction to!
I don't think it's based entirely upon a myth or such, but there is a mysterious time period where these people stopped traveling and settled down.

When I was younger I thought Moana was a scary movie cuz I never watched it but all I saw were pictures of Te ka
This is the first movie I’ve watched you react to
Subbing
Te Kā = “The light.”
The “ How to Train Your Dragon” trilogy is the best also!
Moana is 16, Maui just did a really bad guess.
It wasn't even a guess, he was straight up dissing her.
Have you seen Tarzan The Fearless? It's a movie set in the jungle. It can be found on TH-cam
HELLO MY QUEEN
hey loser
Ahhh king and Queen vibes. 💞 But we all know the Queen would be ruling the Queendom
I’m sad she didn’t see the mid credit scene with the crab
Afterwards. Yes its so fucking good.. Before this my fav was Hercules.....new ones? I would say Zootopia
You can't kill people this is disney me: exactly the point disney kills

React to"coco" the movie you might like it it's about a Mexican tradition please 🙏🥺
Have you not learned to not do extensive makeup for Disney movies yet? Disney/Pixar can yank tears out of a marble statue.
Foc
