I'll never forget this movie. My mom won't watch it because she was raised as a child by a black nanny. She says that woman loved her more than her mother ever did and it killed her inside watching her mother treat the only woman who really loved her like trash. This isn't that far back in time. In 1986 there was still a food take out place near where I lived that had separate windows to serve colored and white.
One scene of the movie that breaks me heart is when Hillys mother got disoriented and tried to go outside and you could see Minny was scared and concerned for her
This movie is based off a book. We down deep south have to read it in high school among many others along this line. "The way to prevent history from repeating, is by always teaching it"
Yes. Hidden Figures is a must watch and a perfect next movie. Taraji killed that role as always, but something extra special. Janelle Monae did incredible and Octavia Spencer did great as always. It's a really great movie!
Hey Juli! This is one of my top 3 favorite films. I also read the book. The movie is a very good adaptation. I remember hating Hillie in both, not just for being racist because that's the way she was raised. No, it was more for her being a stuck-up vindictive liar. Bryce Dallas Howard was excellent in this role. To be honest, before this movie, I didn't think Viola Davis had any real stand out roles. THE HELP was to me her 1st stellar role. The same goes for Octavia Spencer. The actress that played Hillie's mom was Sissy Spacek, who was Carrie in the 1976 movie CARRIE. That scene when Abilene is leaving & little Mae Mobley is crying & yelling for her to come back, breaks my heart every time, even seeing it as a clip in your TH-cam reaction. The same goes for what happened w/Constantine. Anyway, this was a really good reaction & commentary from u. I like how passionate u became commenting on this movie.😊👍👑
This movie has you going through so many emotions it was really a good movie but that last scene when Mae Mobley was crying for Aibileen not to go gets me every time I mean snot crying 😭🥰
Yea thats kinda the point tho, something’s from history not say this movie was very historical accurate but something’s from history are uncomfortable and it’s important to acknowledge that and grow so we don’t repeat history.

this movie is legendary especially with the pie scene 😂
Run Minnie, ruuuunnnnnn!!!!!😂😂😂

25:31 The Terrible Awful 🥧🍫
It wasn't a Terrible Awful, It was Karmic Justice.
I recommend the book if you love this movie. You get more in-depth with the characters and more stories they cut out of the movie.

Now why you got her cross eyed in the thumbnail🤦🏿♀️😂
The overdramatic reaction to hearing nigra was annoying. 😂
Why? It wasn't an appropriate word for white folk to be using then and it isn't now. 🙄
No offense, Meryl Streep is overrated
