Just remember this is for four stroke scooters not two stroke. Another step missed is to check oil for a metallic sheen or debris. Where it is normal for a new engine as it's wearing in, it's not for an older engine and indicates you have issues usually the oil pump. On most air cooled scooters there is no oil pressure warning light so you need to be able to read your oil

kheiry mekni thanks for the comment. this was a Lance scooter which does call for you to screw in the dipstick because otherwise you could get an inaccurate reading. Other scooters I agree with you

Seems there's different views on this and both have very good points and it all depends if you have had it sitting for months and months Vs just a regular oil change. They say don't run the oil warm if it's been sitting for many many months as all you're doing is spreading all the shit around the engine again rather that drain it cold.

Do not ride if it needs oil change ! It can mess it up ! Every 2-500 miles you oil change ! Check screws regularly and when you put gas to light sprays so the fizz from gasoline doesn’t overflow from tank
Thanks jeyzee691 and good question. It really depends on your driving conditions (dusty area, climate, etc) and the age of the scooter and mileage. On this particular scooter (it was a new Lance just for the video) it’s recommended after the first 300km (186 miles) and then every 1000km (621 miles)
I change oil every 280 to 320 miles on my Honda metropolitan, that's usually when it begins to darken, I depend on my scoot ALOT , & just gives me peace of mind knowing she's full of clean oil, 14 oil changes in 4,000 miles but, I'm hoping it'll benefit in the long run ✌️
Probably doing it way more than you need to. But it's better to do it too frequently than not enough. Only consequence of too frequent is the cost of oil. Better than the consequence of not enough

Hey how do you start a Lance Cabo 200I that doesn't wanna start? I turn the key and it doesn't even light up. It has gas left it full when last used 5 months ago.
You probably figured it out by now, but because batteries slowly drain you won't have any juice left. If you have a kickstarter you can use that, if not you will have to take it for a little walk. Another option is to charge the battery a bit with a charger or by hooking it up to another battery of the same voltage.

Gumout carb and choke cleaner. (Any carb and choke cleaner should work) This is recommended over specific brake cleaner as it has fewer chemicals and therefore may leave less residue when you’re cleaning the filter.
Good video. I've been doing my own oil changes on my scooter motorcycle hybrid forever and it has the same setup. A lot of people say they always change the oil filter on their motorcycle with a new one but with the scooters it seems like they only have the reusable metal ones. I've watched this ending a dozen times and I don't understand, you're saying that the oil level on the dipstick should go above the small criss-crossed lines at the bottom of the stick and then another half way from the top? Why is there no indicator on the stick? I feel like this is going to be way too much oil

NOOOOOO.......... Don't use mineral oil use semi synthetic. Really easy to remove filter screen housing on new bike but a few months of road grime and salt will soon make it hard to remove so don't bother, the mesh size of the screen is so large everything will pass through. As someone else said just use the 17 mm bolt at the side on this SYM model and also tilt the scoot towards you as more oil will come out. AND NEVER have the oil level checked on the dipstick just after filling, run the engine for a minute then leave it off for a couple more then insert the dipstick so it just rests on the filling hole, do not twist or waggle it about, the oil should just reach the top of the cross hatched area, this is the maximum fill level NOT I REPEAT NOT as indicated on the smooth part of the dipstick. I have owned and still own two models a Jet 4 125 and a Fiddle 3 so have done many recommended 1000km oil changes. Manuals for most scooter models can be found online for free giving extensive information on maitainance , manuals library being just one.
Alvaro Sánchez is a 10w 30 car oil ok and do u need to undo the bolt on the other side to get all the oil out or does enough come out with the filter bolt by the exhaust if u warm the engine first. . Thanks
@@matowixunplugged7927 you need motorcycle oil, this engines run harder, cools down the engine and need the aditives on Motorcycle oils like anti foaming and anti shear properties. Any MB or MA motorcycle oil will work fine, better a know brand semisynth. every 4.000 km or less. Take a look at tour manual, if missing sure you can find it on the web
4 stroke engine so oil is changed; 2 stroke typically with direct oil injection doesn't need oil changes (just add high quality injection oil). Just pointing this out - thanks for doing video.

Another missed step. don't drain it cold, operating temp is best and let it drain for 15 min.

there is 10w40 gear oil. gl4 semi synthetic. Yamaha use 10w40 on neos 50 .Follow recommendations ALWAYS.

Alvaro Sánchez also scooters don't have a gearbox in with the motor so there is no shearing but yeah they get hotter being aircooled.

without wet clutch you can use if it is jaso ma2 compatible and not energy conserving type of oil. Do not use mineral oil.

The only thing that I’ve used on all the scooter and motorcycles I’ve had, is to use 10W 40. I wouldn’t use any other type.
