Keep your scooter running right with these basic maintenance tips.
came here to check if i could change my gfs scooter oil, decided its better to pay for it
Really good helpful tips and thanks for the video.
So No oil Filter ?
Any good recommendations on an aftermarket exhaust on a 21 Lance Cabo 200i? TY
Not sure that scooter needed an oil change lol
I've watched this ending a dozen times and I don't understand, you're saying that the oil level on the dipstick should go above the small criss-crossed lines at the bottom of the stick and then another half way from the top? Why is there no indicator on the stick? I feel like this is going to be way too much oil
oh shit! i just put in Red Line 90W! The label by the dipstick on my Shanghai JM Star simply said use GL-3 gear oil. Like there is only one weight. well i'm going to go with it. WELL DOUBLE SHIT. this is just for the engine oil. and it has to be 10-40. i'll drain it out and put it in the rear diff (aka transmission).
thank you . very helpful .
Thank you!
i have genuine roughhouse 50cc scooter it cranks for few sec and shut off new battery new plugs can you recommend some thing or any advise

Fill up the gear oil until it starts leaking out the fill point, I use 80w-90 gear oil and use a bike tyre pump with an inflatable bed nozzle
Thank you
Watch a guy fumble with an electric screwdriver 😂
Thanks for showing how to unscrew a filter housing... We need to know how to clean the filter not how to unscrew things and look at things...
I was going to ask you how much oil and you said 750ml. There’s another yt video and they said to put the whole quart. That didn’t sound right bc I’ve had many Yamaha scooters and they all been like 2/3 or 3/4 and not the whole quart. Oh and another yt video says to put 850 ml and I guess it doesn’t hurt to put too much? Or maybe this is a 50cc and the others were a 125 Zuma and needed more oil?!
Also how often to change the oil? I’ve heard 500 and 1000 miles,
I been told to add 100cc of 10/30 sym gear oil in my 2016 125 jet S
Thanks.
Hi I found mine got dirty with engine oil. Should I replace it? If no, please can you tell how to clean it?
can i use a 20w50 its a 150cc still summer somewhat in nyc
Guys five seconds away from saying ah fak ya queer go get me a slice in heavy long island accent
How often does that gear oil need to be changed? In the manual is this the same as Final Transmission Oil?
Thank you
That looked like some clean oil
What type of gear oil ? Can I use 75w90 ? 100cc?
My Chinese Sinnis uses 15W40 as stated on the crankcase, and every 1000 miles too. 👍
Thanks a lot
NOOOOOOOOO.....most scooters have the gearbox oil quantity printed on the gearbox housing, my sym fiddle 3 says 170ml so thats what it gets, different scooters require different quantities, on a Honda I had it said to fill top hole until it came out again and that will be good for most scooters if the exact amount is unknown, also always use proper gear oil not engine oil as they are made to do different things, the gearbox on a scoot is separate from the engine unlike on a motorcycle. Motorcycle oil has to run around the gearbox and the wet clutch as it works so isn't as slippery as car oil as it contains less or no friction modifiers, on my scooters I always use good semi synthetic 10w40 car oil as it's cheaper and better than overpriced motorcycle or scooter oil.
And what gear oil do you use?
Castrol 80/90 axle/gear oil about every 5000 miles. A 1 litre bottle of gearbox oil will probably outlast a scooter even with 1000 mile engine oil changes.
NOOOOOOO......the screws are self tapping and the housing is plastic, undoing it is ok with an electric tool but re fitting it you MUST use a handheld screwdriver, put the screw into the hole and turn anticlockwise as if undoing it until you feel a click as the screw drops into the previously cut thread the screw made, not doing this will result in difficulty doing it up as you will be cutting a new thread into the plastic and it will feel very tight, doing it the wrong way will cause the thread to dissappear meaning the screw wont tighten and will be loose. These SYM filters are not designed to be cleaned, one side has a non removable metal mesh and the other a thin foam covering the corrugated paper element just like the ones on cars which are also just meant to be thrown away. Some scoots and motorcycles have a foam reuseale air filter that you wash out then re oil in the way you might wash out a cloth with water and then squeeze most out leaving it damp. Most scooter air filters have aftermarket patterns ones that are much cheaper than the original ones £10/$10 instead of £20/$20 and are just as good.
NOOOOOO.......... Don't use mineral oil use semi synthetic. Really easy to remove filter screen housing on new bike but a few months of road grime and salt will soon make it hard to remove so don't bother, the mesh size of the screen is so large everything will pass through. As someone else said just use the 17 mm bolt at the side on this SYM model and also tilt the scoot towards you as more oil will come out. AND NEVER have the oil level checked on the dipstick just after filling, run the engine for a minute then leave it off for a couple more then insert the dipstick so it just rests on the filling hole, do not twist or waggle it about, the oil should just reach the top of the cross hatched area, this is the maximum fill level NOT I REPEAT NOT as indicated on the smooth part of the dipstick. I have owned and still own two models a Jet 4 125 and a Fiddle 3 so have done many recommended 1000km oil changes. Manuals for most scooter models can be found online for free giving extensive information on maitainance , manuals library being just one.
Great video if you want to kno how to open air box!
What is tight? Everything with threads is designed for a specific torque value! 🙄
Isn’t the seal already compressed & needs to be replaced? 🙄🙃
What ever the id tag says… front & rear on mine are different
what is the rcmmwnded vscosity for gear oil?...
Braddah from the islands. Yessssah
My scooter has an opening at the front of the transmission case on the cover I was wondering if that's supposed to be covered up or not
It's for ventilation.
Where is transmission oil cap😫
How often should we change the scooter gear oil?
Every around 620 miles. At least that’s what it says for my Lance Havana Classic. Basically with your normal oil changes
Last time I did a oil change it was at 1100 miles it’s now at 1800 miles should I do another change ?
Good video. I've been doing my own oil changes on my scooter motorcycle hybrid forever and it has the same setup. A lot of people say they always change the oil filter on their motorcycle with a new one but with the scooters it seems like they only have the reusable metal ones. Do they make disposable filters for the scooters and are they any better than the metal? Thanks
Good frower
Hi I have a Tao Tao 50cc is the dipstick suppose to be screwed back in to check the level thankyou
I have a couple questions. How can I tell the oil is clean? Other question would be that how would I know when to change the oil? I am new to having a scooter, and have no idea to how to maintain a scooter. I just got a 2020 Yamaha N Max 155, and it keeps flashing oil on the indicator, but I don't see anything wrong with its performance. Please reply as soon as you can. I will really appreciate it. By the way if there's anybody on the comment section that can help out and have some knowledge for this topic it will be much appreciated as well.
Do not ride if it needs oil change ! It can mess it up ! Every 2-500 miles you oil change ! Check screws regularly and when you put gas to light sprays so the fizz from gasoline doesn’t overflow from tank
Do you sell body parts for the atm50a1 scooter?
Thank you. They sure make it hard to add gear oil. Older scooter had a well cap on the top of the gearbox.
Hello, I have a problem, I have a Peugeot Speedfight 1 100cc that recently seized up/heat seized. It was not tuned. I then changed the cylinder, piston etc. It now starts up right away, but after a while it dies all of a sudden (as if you had turned off the key) and then I can start it right up again, this usually happens when I go over 60 km/h or uphill. When I changed the cylinder etc, I also cleaned everything thoroughly, such as the carburettor, intake, new air filter, new fuel filter (there was no fuel filter before) new spark plug. I also removed the oil pump and put a metalplate with a gasket over the hole instead, I now mix the oil directly into the gasoline. Some other info that might be important. - When I drive over 60 km/h, it starts to make a noise from the variator (CVT), it´s sounds quite a lot. - When it died, I tried to start it again while it was rolling and then it started right away, but it made a noise from the variator, like something "let go" that had been seized up, like a rubber sound, maybe from the belt. - The variator belt touches the variator cover on the inside and has grinded a cut in the metal. - In the variator, where the weights are, the belt does not go down to the bottom of the wheel. - The clutch bell had turned blue from the heat. - The place where the connecting rod attaches to the crankshaft had turned blue from heat. - There was no fuel filter on it before. But i now saw there is an internal fuel filter in the gastank, can it affect the vacuum if you now have 2 fuel filters. Please help me. Regards Andree.
did you ever find a solution? sounds like I have a similar problem
Is the gear oil/ transmission oil bolts both gold in color?
Howmuch oil do you put in?
Fuck cleaning a dirty filter. For like 10-15 quid (15-20 bucks) just replace it with a brand new one
